Introduction to Photo Gallery 1.1 Introduction to Photo Gallery Photo Gallery is a dedicated web photo album application for ASUSTOR NAS. After downloading and installing Photo Gallery from App Central, NAS administrators will be able to browse their photo collection on the NAS from any PC along with co-managing and sharing albums with NAS users. Photo Gallery utilizes a modern cover design for albums which is comprised of a large photo with 4 smaller thumbnails of recently uploaded photos. This allows users to easily organize their photos and keep track of the latest changes by simply viewing the album cover. Photo Gallery features a clear and crisp interface with an easy to browse photo wall along with a built-in thumbnail accelerator that allows users to quickly browse all photos. Administrators are able to configure privileges for users allowing users with sufficiency privileges to freely manage albums and upload photos. Photo Gallery also makes it easy for group collaboration with the message function that allows users to interact with one another. Additionally, Photo Gallery provides a tag function allowing users to add tags to photos in order to make it easier to search for them in the future. Furthermore, social media integration allows users to conveniently post content from Photo Gallery to popular social media platforms. Key Features: . Customizable album covers . It can be downloaded and installed from ASUSTOR’s App Central. ADM version: 2.1 and later versions Installation: Download and install from App Central Cost: Free Models: Available for all ASUSTOR NAS models ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 4 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery 2. Using Photo Gallery 2.1 Installing Photo Gallery STEP 1 Log into ADM and then click on [App Central]. STEP 2 Search for “Photo Gallery” or find it under the “ASUSTOR Apps” category in the left hand panel. Click on the [Install] button to install Photo Gallery. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 5 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery STEP 3 You will be able to see the Photo Gallery icon on the ADM desktop after it has been successfully installed. STEP 4 In order to enable access to Photo Gallery for other users, the NAS administrator must first enable App privileges to Photo Gallery for the users. This can be done by selecting [Access Control] [App Privileges] from the ADM desktop. Under App Privileges, the NAS administrator will be able to configure access to Photo Gallery and all other Apps on the NAS. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 6 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 7 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery 2.2 Creating a new album When creating albums, administrators will be able to configure access privileges to the album for other users. The following steps will guide you through the process of creating a new album in Photo Gallery. STEP 1 Click on the [Photo Gallery] icon on the ADM desktop to open Photo Gallery. Once Photo Gallery is open, click on [New Album]. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 8 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery STEP 2 Enter a name for the new album. You can also enter a description for the album, configure overall privileges of the album (Privilege) and configure privileges for specific users (Edit Privilege) along with uploading photos to the album from your NAS or PC. You can also upload photos to Photo Gallery via “drag and drop”. Administrators will be able to configure the overall privileges for the album. In the graphic below, you can see the different privilege options that can be configured for albums: Public, Password and Private. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 9 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Album privilege descriptions: Public: Anyone with a link to Photo Gallery will be able to browse through the contents of the album no matter if they have logged in or not. Password: Anyone with a link to Photo Gallery will have to first enter a password before being able to browse through the contents of the album. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 10 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Private: Only administrators or users specified by administrators will be able to browse through the contents of the album after logging in. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 11 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery 2.3 Album and photo management 2.3.1 Album Management After opening an album, you will see the following options on the toolbar towards the top of the interface: Share to, Upload, Edit, and Slideshow. You will also be able to edit the album description and set an album cover. These options are described below in more detail. Share to: Can be used to share the link of the album to Facebook, Google+, Twitter or Plurk. Upload: Can be used to upload new photos to the album. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 12 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Edit: Can be used to edit the album name, description, overall album privileges and user privileges. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 13 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Slideshow: Can be used to view the album photos as a slideshow with options for full-screen viewing. After entering into slideshow mode, you will be able to adjust the time interval between photos, enable or disable descriptions, and view the photo count/total number of photos. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 14 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Adding or editing an album description: You can add or edit the album description in the area under the toolbar. Setting an album cover: In the upper left-hand corner of each photo you will find an icon that lets you quickly set the photo as the album cover. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 15 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery 2.3.2 Photo Management Inside each album, you will be able to manage single or multiple photos. After checking the checkbox in the upper right-hand corner of a photo, you will see the “Select All” and “Deselect” functions in the upper right-hand corner of the interface. The following functions will also appear on the toolbar towards the top of the interface: Download, Delete, Move, Copy, Add Tag, and Rotate. These functions are described below in more detail. Download: Download the selected photo(s) to your PC. Delete: Delete the selected photo(s). Move: Move the selected photo(s) to a different album. Copy: Copy the selected photo(s) to a different album. Add Tag: Add tags to the selected photo(s) in order to find them quickly. Rotate: Rotate the selected photo(s) clockwise 90o, counterclockwise 90o or 180o. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 16 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery 2.3.3 Search Photo Gallery features a search function. You can enter keywords into the search box located in the upper right-hand corner of the interface to search for photos. You can also click on the drop down icon for advanced searching options that allow for additional search parameters such as time taken, time uploaded, and tags. 2.3.4 Viewing photos individually and via slideshow Viewing photos individually: After opening an album, you can click on any photo to view it individually. The arrow on the left of the photo allows you to view the photo before it and the arrow to right takes you to the next photo in the album. Towards the bottom of the photo you will find sharing options for social media sites, along with options for downloading, deleting and rotating the photo. In the right-hand panel beside the photo you will find the photo description, tags, EXIF information and a message section. Slideshow: Please see section 2.3.1. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 17 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery 2.4 Co-managing albums The NAS administrator is able to configure album privileges for all users. When a user has “Upload” and “Manage” privileges for an album, they will be able to co-manage the album with the administrator. The different privileges that can be assigned to users are Browse, Upload and Manage. These privileges are described in more detail below. Browse: Users with the Browse privilege can only browse the specified albums after logging in. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 18 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Upload: Users with the Upload privilege are able to browse and upload photos to specified albums after logging in. ASUSTOR COLLEGE / 19 NAS 137: Introduction to Photo Gallery Manage: Users with this privilege will be able to browse, upload and edit photos in specified albums after logging in.
