Title: EDM Operator / CNC Machinist Location: All Division: Manufacturing Department: Technician Reports to: Operations Manager  Exempt  Non-Exempt  Full Time  Part Time  Temporary

Position Summary: The EDM Operator / CNC Machinist will program, set up, operate and adjust various types of conventional or automatic machines including CNC EDM machines, various grinders and other precision equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

EDM Operator

• Wire EDM operators operate and set up one or more electrical-discharge machines to shape metal to specifications, following standard charts or from job order, blueprints and process sheets. • Wire EDM operator performs scheduled maintenance duties, including tool sharpening and machine cleaning. • Mounts specified electrode in preset holder on spindle, secures on machine table or places it in . • Moves controls to align electrode and workpiece and to set electrode feed rate, depth limit, electric current and turns on flow of dielectric coolant, and observes operation. • Inspects work visually or with measuring instruments. • Performs G-Code programming to run wired EDM machines. • Works with toolmakers and designers to establish proper manufacturing methods and inspects finished work pieces to ensure compliance with accepted manufacturing tolerances. • Marks and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on work material for future production. • Writes or edits programs for precision machinery and monitors machines during production runs to adjust machine controls to prevent errors.

CNC Machinist

• Plans by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock. • Sets-up mills and lathes by entering code, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs; indicate and tramming mill heads. • Operate and set up mills and lathes by maintaining three- and four-jaw chucks, cutting tools, attachments, , bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. Make jigs and fixturing. • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards. • Maintains specifications by observing , grooving, and cutting, including , , knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. • This position is responsible for adherence to all safety rules, regulations and the required personal protective equipment/ testing set forth by the employer. • Utilize tools and technology provided in an effective and efficient manner • Willing to attend on-going training to further professional development • Ensure communication with customers, suppliers, vendors and co-workers are professional and appropriate. • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends and work well with others • Fit for duty in clean and presentable manner • Able to travel within and outside of the continental US • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Experience - • Required 5 years’ Machining/Manufacturing experience • Preferred knowledge of power industry Language Skills – • Ability to read, write and speak in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers, vendors and the public Skills and Abilities – • Must be customer service oriented and have excellent hospitability and guest relations skills • Excellent math, verbal/written communication skills and attention to details • Ability to multi-task and use of judgement to solve problems • Extraordinary safety focus • Ability to perform routine duties involving use of various procedures and applications to clearly prescribed standard practices Technology, Tools, and Equipment – • Computer, Telephone, various hand tools, both power and manual • Must own wide variety of machinist tools including calibration ready measuring tools. Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations – • Valid Driver’s License • Passport
