Diese sind in Schweizer Fran- ken angegeben. Gebote sind ebenfalls in dieser Währung abzugeben. Die Schätzpreise sind realistisch angesetzt und sind NICHT hohe Startpreise. Der eigentliche Startpreis ist nicht im Katalog angegeben und liegt normalerweise leicht unter dem unteren Schätzpreis. Der Käufer sollte berücksichtigen, dass diese Schätz- preise lange vor der Auktion festgelegt wurden und nicht definitiv sind und jederzeit abgeändert werden können. Die Preisangeben verstehen sich ohne Mehrwertsteuer. Diese wird dem Käufer gemäss 5.2 abgerechnet. Jeder Bieter haftet persönlich für die von ihm mündlich oder schriftlich abgegebenen Gebote und kann nicht geltend machen, für Rechnung Dritter gekauft zu haben. Mündliche und schriftliche Angebote sind verbindlich, können nicht zurückgezogen werden und gelten als Kaufofferten, solange sie nicht überboten werden. Der Versteigerer behält sich das Recht vor, einzelne Lose des Kataloges zu vereinen, zu trennen, ausserhalb der Reihenfolge an- zubieten oder nicht zur Versteigerung zu bringen. Die Gebotserhöhungen sind unter 4.9 aufgelistet. Der Zuschlag erfolgt nach dreimaligem Aufruf an den Meistbietenden gegen sofortige Bezahlung nach Auktionsschluss oder Überweisung innerhalb 7 Tagen in Schweizer Währung. Die Regelung bei Nicht- bezahlung ist unter 5.8 geregelt. Auf den Zuschlag ist ein Aufgeld von 20 Prozent zu entrichten. Die Versandkosten werden separat verrechnet. Die Objekte werden in dem Zustand erworben, in dem sie sich im Moment des Zuschlages befinden. Mit erfolgtem Zuschlag erli- scht die Gewährleistungspflicht des Auktionshauses, Nutzen und Gefahr der Objekte gehen auf den Käufer über. Vorbedingung für das Verfügungsrecht und die Übergabe ist jedoch die vollständige Bezahlung des Zuschlagspreises und des Aufgeldes. Die Beschreibungen der Lose in diesem Auktionskatalog wurden nach bestem Wissen und Gewissen verfasst. Für die Angaben wird jedoch nicht gehaftet. Alle Eigenschaften der Objekte sowie deren Zustand sind vom Käufer während der Ausstellung na- chzuprüfen. Bei Fälschungen gelten die Bedingungen unter 5.10. Mit jedem abgegebenen mündlichen oder schriftlichen Gebot anerkennt der Auktionsteilnehmer ausdrücklich und ohne Einwän- de sämtliche Auktionsbedingungen.     The Hotel Victoria in Rome The history of a hotel and a Swiss hotelier family Visitors to the Eternal City can choose from more than 1,000 hotels, and one of these is the Hotel Victoria. This traditional hotel has been putting out the welcome mat for its guests for more than 100 years – and this remarkable history is mainly due to the patience, perseverance and quality awareness of one Swiss family. In today's world it is hard to find large, grand hotels that are still family run and owned. Hotels with a rating of four stars or more with in excess of one hundred rooms are normally owned by global enterprises. This is also true of Rome – but in Rome there are still exceptions, although you can only count them on the fingers of one hand. One exception, one of these family-run, grand hotels in the city, is located directly next to the Aurelian Wall, a stone's throw away from the Villa Borghese. Two minutes walk away to the south west you will find the cosmopolitan Via Veneto, familiar to us all from Fellini's "La dolce vita". When you enter the foyer of the Hotel Victoria, you will notice immediately that something is different – the walls. Throughout the foyer, the bar and restaurant, in all corridors and rooms, the walls of the entire hotel are covered by an impressive collection of paintings dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The manager of a hotel chain would never dream of making his premises a showcase for such works of art.

    Internal Combustion Engine (Edited from Wikipedia) SUMMARY An internal combustion engine is an engine in which combustion, or the burning of fuel, occurs on the inside. It is a machine that makes large pressure increases inside a sealed box (cylinder). The pressure increase pushes a rod which is attached to a wheel. The rod pushes the wheel and makes it spin around. The spinning wheel is attached to other wheels, such as four car wheels, with a belt or a chain. The engine is very strong and can make all the wheels move. Engines need oil to make them slippery or the moving parts would grind together and stick. Parts of a car engine are measured to 0.01 of a millimeter and some engine parts fit together very tightly. Internal differs from external combustion where the fire is outside the engine, such as a steam engine. Most road vehicles use the internal combustion engine today, and most of those use the four-stroke engine. Rocket and jet engines are combustion engines but they do not turn wheels. The fire in their combustion chamber pushes gases rapidly out the back, which pushes the rocket forward. HISTORY Various scientists and engineers contributed to the development of internal combustion engines. In 1791 2, John Barber developed a turbine. In 1794 Thomas Mead patented a gas engine. Also in 1794 Robert Street patented an internal combustion engine, which was also the first to use liquid fuel (gasoline), and built an engine around that time. In 1798, John Stevens designed the first American internal combustion engine.

Born in Lucca, Tuscany, Matteucci studied hydraulic and mechanical engineering, first in Paris, then in Florence. In 1851 he met Father Barsanti and appreciated his ideas for a new type of engine.     The Piston Engine Revolution The First Internal Combustion Engine G Ricci, P Gasparini, P Lazzerini, R Lazzerini, F Viola Barsanti and Matteucci Foundation Synopsis Two Italian scientists/engineers developed the first internal combustion engine using the free-piston principle. Patents were established in various countries and a working engine was manufactured and ran successfully for several years at a railway station in Florence and before the engines of Lenoir and of Otto and Langen. Other engines were developed but the chaotic political and social conditions during the reunification of Italy created problems in promoting their engine and defending their patents. The death of Barsanti, whilst supervising the production of the engine at Cockerill’s plant at Seraing, Belgium, coupled with Matteucci’s ill-health effectively ended the engine’s promotion and development. Lenoir’s engine introduced at this time was commercially successful but much less efficient than Barsanti and Matteucci’s engine, and it was left to Otto and Langen, using a very similar free-piston design, to establish an efficient internal combustion engine. Abbot Eugenio Barsanti from Pietrasanta Lucca, a gifted mathematician and physicist, was drawn towards his invention of a gas engine after studying a new concept electric pistol, which was originally used by inventor Alessandro Volta to study the behaviour of Marsh Gas. Barsanti used metal instead of glass, completed the pistol with an upper cork plug, with a flexible bottom end, and used a device to create an internal spark (Figure 1). He completed various experiments from which he realized that he had identified an energy source ready to be used practically.
