Athens and Sparta were two great city states in Ancient Greece. Women in ancient Sparta and Athens led different lives in terms of their role in society, access to education and social and political rights. Based on your research, you will decide in which society you would have rather lived and provide an explanation why.

In this lesson, you will decide whether you’d rather have been a Spartan or an Athenian woman.
Materials
You will need a computer with internet access for this lesson.
What you will do: Research life for women in ancient Athens and Sparta in terms of work, family structure, gender roles, rights, class system. Use both texts and images to help with your research. Be sure to cite the sources (websites, articles, or books). Discuss with your teacher how you will present your findings (collage, Prezi, PowerPoint, video, short story, poem).
