KCETLink is the national independent public transmedia organization formed by the merger between KCET and Link Media. A viewer-supported 501c(3) organization, its content is distributed nationally via satellite on DirecTV and DISH, in Southern and Central via broadcast, as well as through various digital delivery systems.

The combined organization reaches a wide broadcast audience that includes Link TV’s 33 million subscribers on DirecTV and , and KCET’s 5.6 million households in Southern and Central California.

As new technologies continue to make dramatic changes to the media landscape, KCETLink is committed to driving public media innovation with smarter ways to access content that engages all audiences. New programming leverages social media and digital technology to continue to attract new viewers on alternative platforms, such as the Link TV World News app for the iPad that curates the best of broadcast world news reporting from over 125 news outlets.

KCETLink offers a cross-section of vibrant programming that taps into the cultural diversity of its combined viewership. Some of those programs, which have aired on both channels, include BAFTA-winning Borgen, LinkAsia and City Walk. Joint documentary presentations have showcased stories of inspiration and education, such as The Power of Two and Shadows of Liberty.

By exploiting the ability to share resources and programming synergies--that educates, inspires, and entertains--across multiple screens and distribution channels, KCETLink ultimately delivers an interesting intersection of great content that can be developed for a wide public television audience.

KCET distributes three digital multi-cast channels 24/7: 1) KCETLink (28.2) features a cross-section of some of the best global content from KCET and Link TV libraries. 2) V-me (28.3) (veh-meh– from the Spanish veme, meaning “see me”) is a Spanish language channel offering quality cultural, educational entertainment for Spanish-speaking audiences. 3) NHK (28.4), the stand-alone 24-hour, English-language television news and lifestyle network to more than 5.6 million homes.

Link TV offers a wide variety of rich, culturally focused programs, news and current affairs, comedies, world music, film and documentaries that allow its audience to become inspired and involved in the world. Link TV’s programs include Democracy Now, Earth Focus, and Arab Labor, as well as cutting edge documentaries such as The Koch Brothers.
