Polish Academy of Canada - 2018 Keynote Speaker: Ian Tyson

HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING: Ian takes a look deeper into personal attitude and how it affects our day to day lives. By looking back at the unbridled enthusiasm of our youth and contrasting to what we do every day in high school, stark contrasts emerge. Ian looks at how we “statistically” spend our lives and whether that is in fact, living. While not advocating blind optimism; Ian instead looks at a more complete understanding; that while life can throw us curve balls – everyone can get through it with perseverance and the right attitude. By citing humorous personal examples to overcome this, and giving hands on tips, Ian shows how letting go of negativity can really improve our outlook. Capitalizing on his trademark style of storytelling with wit and wisdom intertwined, this presentation will leave audiences with a new mantra for life “Hooray For Everything!”

Not recognizing the cultural diversity of Aboriginal Peoples in Canada is one of the most common mistakes non-Aboriginal people make when engaging with Aboriginal communities and visiting Canada. Justin Trudeau (Prime Minister of Canada) “Every year, we […] recognize the fundamental contributions that First Nations, Inuit, and the Métis Nation have made to the identity and culture of all Canadians. The , art, traditions, and cultures of Indigenous Peoples have shaped our past, and continue to shape who we are today.” “No relationship is more important to Canada than the relationship with Indigenous Peoples. Our Government is working together with Indigenous Peoples to build a nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, government-to-government relationship – one based on respect, partnership, and recognition of rights. “We are determined to make a real difference in the lives of Indigenous Peoples – by closing socio-economic gaps, supporting greater self-determination, and establishing opportunities to work together on shared priorities.”
