City of Willoughby Hills
Police Department
Swearing in its first two officers in 1955, and growing into a department staffed with 19 full time officers and 09 part time officers, the mission of the Police Department under the direction of Chief Christopher J. Collins is to enhance the quality of life for its residents by providing a proactive and full range of professional police services, enforcing the law, reducing the fear of crime, promoting joint problem solving for safe, secure neighborhoods, and working in partnerships with the community to preserve life, property, and the constitutional rights of all.
From our humble country beginnings to Annual Report a modern fast growing municipality, our dedication to service 2015 and commitment to excellence will ensure that we meet the present and future needs of our community.
Pride ♦ Courage ♦ Service
On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Willoughby Hills Police Department, I’m pleased to present you with our Annual Report for 2015. The report contains important information and statistics reflecting the commitment of our staff in meeting the various challenges of providing outstanding police services to our community. We’re always evaluating our goals, objectives, and law enforcement programs to ensure we meet the needs of our community.
Our top priority continues to be those crimes that affect the safety, welfare, and quality of life in our community. To meet this goal we continue to be progressive in our policing strategies and our search for new equipment and technology to enhance our investigative capabilities. This year we added two new Ford SUV Police Cars and new in-car video systems to aid in documenting activities during traffic stops and arrests.
The police department’s community outreach programs continue to be well received especially our Summer Safety Town Program and the “Kids Print” Identification Card System purchased with funds from our Law Enforcement Trust Fund. This system is used to prints ID Cards for children and young adults at several City events and for our seniors during their “Senior Day” activities. With the Mayor’s support and approval, we were able to purchase an additional Kids Print System that enhances our ability to meet the increased needs of our community outreach programs.
The strength of our department continues to be our police officers, dispatchers and administrative staff. Their dedication and experience leads to the successful adjudication of our traffic and criminal cases, the high compliance ratings for our in-house jail facility and juvenile intervention programs. We’re proud of our strong police-community relationship and the partnerships we share with other city departments and law enforcement agencies.
With a continued spirit of cooperation and teamwork, I look forward to working with Mayor Weger and members of City Council as we continue to make Willoughby Hills a safe and enjoyable community for all.
Respectfully, Christopher J. Collins Chief of Police
