To provide a platform of activities which will allow the youngsters to become familiarized with a set of special characteristics of the area which are not taught in their official educational programme with the support and help of old people who possess the relevant knowledge.

Through this process, the youngster will have the chance to •study their local history and heritage. •take homework and gather information regarding each session, •collect traditional recipes and folklore music, •do research regarding the tradition of the area, former way of life, the historical monuments, the traditional entrepreneurship, agriculture, nature and tourism.

Public event in Kalambaka 14/3/2012: promoted the development of a "Local Action Plan", which is a result of consultation with the local population in order to analyze the local perspectives through opportunities that provide cultural, historical and environmental resources.

Material disseminated to teachers in order to be discussed in class: Big Foot newsletters and information, Local traditional cooking books, DVDs, maps and brocures regarding the natural beauty and the potential of the Prefecture, documentaries regarding traditional customs, lifestyle and techniques.

Women and locals had the opportunity to present to the students the traditional preparation of traditional products in order to:

•Learn about the local products •See how the are produced •Prepare their own sweets •Collect traditional recipes •Be informed about the nutritional value •Discover the nutritional habits and food preparation methods of the past

Through this session the students had the chance to: •Explore the traditional crafts •Watch woodcarving, Byzantine icon painting and traditional costumes •Discoverer techniques and tools from past centuries •Be informed regarding alternative education and career prospects •Learn about the lifestyle of previous generations •Learn how rural and agricultural household equipment from the past were used •Listen old life stories from elder

• Visited traditional watermills of the area • Learned about the power of water and its use in the last century • Saw the procedure of flour traditional production • Visited the famous old stone bridges of the area • Learned from the elder people about the paths and the way of their communication in the past.

Outcomes of the Experiment • To bridge the generation gap through the exchange of knowledge and demonstration of old traditional techniques, traditional local culture, heritage and lifestyle.

• The elders had the chance to participate by:  demostrating the techniques used in the past,  the traditional lifestyle, the local gastronomy and traditional handcraft,  narrating the history of the area,  presenting important natural and historical monuments.

• To highlight the potential of the region with its strong points
