All taxa are new records of ammonoids in Thailand. They comprise the Devonian ammonnoid ?Parawocklumeriidae gen. et sp. indet., the Carboniferous form Goniatites cf. eganensis Korn and Titus, 2011, the Permian ammonoid Cyclolobus sp. indet. from Satun province, on the western part of the peninsula, and the Triassic ammonoid Ceratitina gen. et sp. indet. from Phatthalung province, on the eastern part of the peninsula. Barcelona, 19 (2013): 59-149 La col·lecció paleontològica Gómez-Alba del MGB-MCNB Jaume Gallemí1, Vicent Vicedo1, Gregori López2 i Luis Troya2 Abstract GALLEMÍ, J., VICEDO, V., LÓPEZ, G. & TROYA, L. The Gómez-Alba palaeontological collection of the MGB-MCNB. We present the catalogue of the palaeontological collection belonging to the late Dr. Julio Gómez-Alba, former curator of Palaeontology at Barcelona’s Museum of Geology, now integrated in Barcelona’s Natural History Museum Consortium. He proposed the donation of his collection to the city of Barcelona in November 2010 and the Barcelona’s Institute of Culture (ICUB) accepted it on the 11th February 2011. Formed by 4.990 specimens and 25 batches, it is not the col- lection of a palaeontological researcher but that of a general palaeontologist. Many items in this collection were figured in a field guide authored by Gómez-Alba (1988) dealing with the fossils of Spain and Europe. The catalogue is, apart from some minor corrections, the literal transcription of the database originally associated to the collection that –since its acceptation– has neither been updated nor revised. Key words: catalogue, collection, palaeontology, Gómez-Alba, MGB-MCNB. Resumen GALLEMÍ, J., VICEDO, V., LÓPEZ, G. y TROYA, L. La colección paleontológica Gómez-Alba del MGB-MCNB. Two species of Aalenian Tmetoceras have been identified on the basis of morphological, bio chronological and palaeobiogeographical data: T. scissum and T. regleyi. T. scissum was dominant among the Tmetoceras populations developed in the Betic and Lusitanian basins during Opalinum, Murchisonae and Bradfordensis biochrons. Popu lations coniposed by evolute individuals of T. scissum inhabited shelfal or oceanic envi ronments. A chronocline, from rectiradiate and primitive forms to flexicostate and derived forms, can be recognized in these populations of T. scissum. In contrast, shallow epiconti nental platforms were inhabited by involute individuals of T. regleyi. This second species was phyletically derived from T. scissum, representing an adaptive radiation from popula tions of shelfal or oceanic basins to populations of epicontinental platforms. It must be considered simply as a provisional list, embracing the results of the most recent and approved researches into the systematic relations and anatomy of those animals, but from which innova- tions and peculiar views, affecting materially the classification, have been excluded.

Possible func- occurring in a number of ammonoids, but its function is tions are discussed and the most likely interpretation for still debated. Here, we describe, from Moroccan material of the structure is ‘fabricational noise’, which is related to the the Early Carboniferous species Maxigoniatites saourensis coarsening of the shell ornament of the terminal body (Pareyn, 1961), the most conspicuous wrinkle layer known chamber.

  • Evolution of the Goniatitaceae and Vis6an-Namurian Biogeography
Evolution of the Goniatitaceae and Vis6an-Namurian biogeography DIETERKORN Korn, D. 1997. Evolution of the Goniatitaceaeand Vis6an-Namurian biogeography.- Acta Pal eontologica P olonica 42, 2, 177 -199. Evolutionary lineages within the Carboniferous ammonoid superfamily Goniatitaceae can be recognized using cladistic and stratopheneticanalyses, showing that both ap- proaches lead to coinciding results. In the late Vis6an and Namurian A, ammonoid provinces can be defined by the distribution of lineages within the goniatite superfamily Goniatitaceae. The first province corresponds to the Subvariscan Realm (where the superfamily became extinct near the Vis6an-Namurian boundary), and the second em- braces the majority of the occurrences,e.g. the south urals, central Asia, and North America (where the superfamily with different independent lieages continued up into the late Namurian A). In the Vis6an, the superfamily was, in two short epochs, globally distributed with major transgressions, which probably led to migration events. The first is at the end of the late Vis6an A(G. fi.mbrians and G. spirifer Zones, when the genus Goniatites had a world-wide distribution with various species),and the second at the beginning of the late Vis6an C (L. poststriatumZone, when Lusitanoceras is globally distributed). • The Graphoceratid Ammonite Succession in the Aalenian and Lowest Bajocian (Middle Jurassic) at Horn Park, Dorset, UK ROBERT B
The Graphoceratid Ammonite Succession in the Aalenian and lowest Bajocian (Middle Jurassic) at Horn Park, Dorset, UK ROBERT B. CHANDLER Riddlesdown High School, Purley, Surrey, CR8 lEX Summary In 1990 Callomon and Chandler set out a scheme of 16 faunal horizons for the Aalenian-Lower Bajocian of Dorset and Somerset based principally on graphoceratid ammonites. One locality, Horn Park, stands apart in displaying strata from almost all the horizons identified in that work. Yet little material from it has ever been figured. Here a section is given together with exhaustive tables of existing nominal morphospecies collected at each level and with figures that allow the variability of the suc- cessive, probably in most cases, monobiospecific assemblages to be assessed. A revised generic classification of the Graphoceratidae is presented. them precludes almost any satisfactory discussion of phyletic relationships and hence of the overall evolution The highly discontinuous, condensed and rapidly of the group. varying development of the Inferior Oolite in southern England was first perceived by S.S. Buckman (e.g. 1891, The biostratigraphy of the Graphoceratidae has now 1893, 1910) during his attempts to correlate sections by been rather well documented, for example by Rocha et means of ammonites. Leading amongst these in al. (1990), Henriques (1992; et al. 1994) in Portugal; the Aalenian part of the succession are the Linares and Sandoval (1990) in Spain, Sadki (1994) in Graphoceratidae, including such well known genera as Morocco. In Britain, Morton (1990; 1994) and Morton Leioceras, Ludwigia, Brasilia, Graphoceras and and Hudson (1995) have described the succession in Hyperlioceras. Scotland and compared it with Dorset (Morton and Chandler 1994).
