Fourth St., Rochester, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Tuesday. January 4, 2005 Gloria M. Fellers Alber Oct. 20, 1931–Jan. 2, 2005 Gloria M. Fellers ALBER, 73, of 705 E. Fourth St., Lot 16, Rochester, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Sunday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she was a patient since Dec. 28. Born in Rochester to Harry and Marie Barter Sr., she lived most of her life in the Akron and Rochester communities. She was first married to Charles Lee Fellers on May 12, 1950, in Akron. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1988. She then married Joseph Alber on Dec. 28, 1999, in Rochester. He survives at home. Gloria was a 1949 graduate of Rochester High School. She was employed at Chamberlin Products, Akron, and later retired from Hart, Schaffner & Marx. She was a charter member of the Manitou Moose Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 36 and was current chaplain. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She attended First Christian Church, Rochester, and loved spending time reading and being with her dog, Janie Lou. Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Susan and husband Jake Smith, Middletown; one daughter-in-law, Eileen Fellers, Rochester; three grandchildren, Lori Fellers, Rochester, Brad Fellers, Indianapolis, Cory Fellers, Portland, Ore.; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Fellers. She was preceded in death by a husband, Charles Fellers; one son, Stephen; and two brothers, Harry Barter Jr. and Gale Barter. Her funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with the Rev. Junior Bose officiating. Burial is at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. No visitation is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship Fund. Gary L. Howe Feb. 5, 1938–Jan. 2, 2005 Gary L. HOWE, 66, of 3129 Southeast Lakeshore Drive, Macy, passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday in Peru. Born in Red Bluff, Calif., to Harold L. and Lucille Foley Howe, he worked for 30 years as an inspector at LaSalle Steel, Hammond. Mr. Howe was a U.S. Air Force veteran, attended St. Charles Catholic Church, Peru, and was a member of the Moose, Rochester, and the Literary Aid Society, Peru. Survivors include one daughter, Lisa L. Colgrove, Hot Springs, Ark.; one brother, Phillip Howe Duranham, Bofkona, Calif.; three sisters, Donna Skinner and husband Walton, Roseville, Calif., Deanna Roberts, Boise, Idaho, Carol Howe, Cecile Allen and husband Jim, Cheryl Miller and husband Fred, all of Red Bluff, Calif., Judy Howe, Modesto, Calif., Wanda Stout and husband Perry, Corning, Calif.; one grandson, Jacob Smucz; a friend, Elizabeth Rohn and her children, Robert Frye, Karen Winfrey, and Kelli Smith; her grandchildren, Tom Frye, Cressie and Chad Deskins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ron Howe; and two sisters, Audrey and Arlene Howe. His funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Peru, with the Rev. Francis I. Kilcline III officiating. Burial is at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Peru. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. A prayer service begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Esther H. Klinefelter May 15, 1919–Jan. 3, 2005 Esther H. KLINEFELTER, 85, Kewanna, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Monday at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Rochester. Born in Clayton, Ill., to Tilden Stone and Malinda Crabtree, she married Verlin E. Klinefelter Sr. on May 18, 1940, in Quincy, Ill. He passed away on Aug. 2, 1993. Mrs. Klinefelter was a homemaker and attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She was very active collecting antique buttons and glassware. She graduated from Versailles High School, Ill., in 1937, and moved to Kewanna in 1958. Survivors include two sons, Verlin Klinefelter Jr. and his wife Anita, Nick Klinefelter Sr. and his wife Markeeta, all of Kewanna; one daughter, Linda Gottschalk and her husband Bill, Bonita Springs, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna, is in charge of arrangements. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 Patricia M. Barden Blomquist Jarvis March 6, 1943–Jan. 4, 2005 Patricia M. Barden BLOMQUIST Jarvis, 61, of 6444 S. Sunset Blvd., (Nyona Lake) Macy, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at her residence. Born on March 6, 1943, in Phoenix, she was the daughter of Arnold and Thelma Shackelford Barden. On Aug. 20, 1959, in Phoenix, she married Harold Blomquist. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1965. On June 10, 1966, in Oakford, she married Robert E. Jarvis Sr. He survives. Mrs. Jarvis was a past secretary of the former Nyona Lake Lions Club and Nyona/South Mud Lakes Booster Association and a member of Fulton United Methodist Church. She was an avid Denver Bronco and Notre Dame fan. Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Jarvis Sr., Macy; daughters, Vonnie and husband Bill Sanders, Rochester, and Dena Spradling, Macy; sons, Michael and wife Cheri Blomquist, Rochester, Carl “Archie” Blomquist, Hayden, Colo., and Bob Jr. and wife Betsy Jarvis, Logansport; her mother, Thelma McCarthy, Bryant, S.D.; stepbrother, Willard “Bud” Day, Jacksonville, Texas; grandchildren, Steven Sanders and fiancee Shawnna Wilson, Stephanie Sanders and fiance Tony Hayden, all of Logansport, Maggie Murphy, Patrick Murphy, both of Rochester; Kyle Spradling, Macy, April Blomquist and husband Eric Robertson, Rochester, Kari Blomquist, Kremmling, Colo., and Scooter Jarvis, Logansport; great-grandchildren, Natasha Sanders, Taylor Hayden and Jarrett Hayden, all of Logansport. She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather, Dale McCarthy. Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. George Hapner officiating. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fulton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Nyona/South Mud Lakes Booster Association or Fulton United Methodist Church. Lelah L. Hendry July 22, 1920–Jan. 4, 2005 Lelah L. HENDRY, 84, North Manchester, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Life Care Center, Rochester. Born in Walkerton, to Frank and Marjorie Jamison Ullery, she married Floyd Hendry on May 23, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1988. She and her husband owned Indiana Cafe, Rochester. She later worked at Moore’s Store and Enyart’s True Value Hardware, also in Rochester. After moving to North Manchester, she worked at Heckman Bindery, where she retired after 20 years. She was a member of West Eel River Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake. Survivors include her son, David Hendry, North Manchester; stepsons, Don Hendry, Lincolnville, and Arnold Hendry, Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jim (Delores) Young, Elkhart, and Mrs. Bob (LaVerne) Sonafrank, Somerset; a niece she raised, Mrs. George (Carol) Wilson, Peru; and 11 stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Tinkel officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester. Memorials may be made to West Eel River Church of the Brethren. Mitchell Minix Mitchell MINIX, Sevierville, Tenn., and formerly of Winamac, passed away Dec. 26 at Sevier County Health Center. Survivors include three sons, Paul, Dunnellon, Fla., Mark, Kewanna, Larry, Rochester; four daughters, Pam Minix, Kewanna, Eleanor Frakes, Winamac, Patricia Minix, Logansport, and JoAnn Minix, Rochester; five brothers, RV, AC and Sam, all of Kentucky, and Landon and Wardie, both of Indiana; and three sisters, Marylin Bolen, Kentucky, Carlie Brady and Julephine Mann, Indiana. Funeral services were Dec. 29 at Salyersville Funeral Home, Salyersville, Ky. Thursday, January 6, 2005 Helen M. Dean Helen M. DEAN, 85, of 331 W. Church St., Argos, died Wednesday at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Culver. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Charles Dean, at home; one son, Rev. Richard Dean, Argos; and one sister, Marylee Madden, Battle Creek, Mich. Her funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Bentley Wesleyan Church, Burton, Mich. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday or one hour prior to her service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are by Grossman Funeral Home, Argos. Friday, January 7, 2005 Carolyn J. Davis April 13, 1929–Jan. 4, 2005 Carolyn J. DAVIS, 75, Tallahassee, Fla., passed away Tuesday in Tallahassee. Mrs. Davis was born April 13, 1929, in Rochester. She moved to Tallahassee, from South Florida in 1978. Mrs. Davis was a Protestant by faith. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard A. Davis, at home, and a sister, Peggy Gaiser, Stuart, Fla. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard McDonald Davis. Her memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home - Riggins Road Chapel, 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Fla. Dee Alan Jones March 15, 1950–Dec. 31, 2004 Dee Alan JONES, 54, of 1601 VFW Drive, Rochester, passed away at home Friday. Born in Fort Wayne to Don R. Jones and Alpha O. Jones, he married Jeannine Durocher. Mr. Jones was a service technician at NIPSCO for 15 years.
