The DAC Family Highlight

Meet the Barkers After years of multiple memberships and different clubs and studios around Denver, Chris, Rikki and Josie Barker finally decided to make The Denver Athletic Club their all-in-one club in August of 2016.

For several years prior, Chris had been visiting The DAC to play squash with friends. After the birth of their daughter, Josie, joining the club was a no-brainer for the amazing benefit of having drop in child care.

Now, The DAC truly is a club for the Barkers’ whole life. Chris still enjoys the occasional squash match, biking and occasionally making use of the conference rooms to meet with his wealth management clients. Rikki spends most of her time at the club in Studio 4 and 5 taking yoga, TABATA, Barre and MVE classes. Josie just started in Preschool 1 and enjoys the swimming lessons and Hero Kids Sports program. The Barkers can be found taking advantage of Family Night in the Bistro on Wednesdays or having a glass of wine in the Pub after work.

34 WINTER 2018 DENVERATHLETICCLUB.ORG Employees of the Month

October Walt Charles - Guest Services

Walt Charles began working at the DAC in 2014 serving as an attendant at the Shoe Shine/Repair booth. In 2017, Walt joined the Guest Services staff and began working at the front desk. This has been a great fit for Walt as he has wonderful “people” skills and makes members smile. Walt was born and raised in Colorado and graduated from East High School. Walt is married, has three sons, three grandchildren and loves spending time with his three brothers. Walt credits his “Employee of the Month” award to his fellow team members for their support and camaraderie. Walt says “teamwork makes the dream work!” Congratulations to Walt and the team at the DAC thank him for his work ethic and contribution.

November Mike Streno - Maintenance Department

Mike is a native of Colorado and has worked at The DAC for nearly 28 years. Hired as grounds employee, he worked his way into the Maintenance Department by hard work and dedication. Mike’s mechanical ability and “institutional knowledge” of the building are an enormous value to the Club. Also, you will not find a harder working, dedicated, nice guy to work with. He is the Professor of all things mechanical, but often takes a backseat to others and becomes a student when one of the team has an idea or better grasp of a situation. He has earned the respect of his coworkers, peers and management and it is considered an honor to work with him.

Mike is married to Darlene, and has one son. In his private time, Mike enjoys being outdoors and above all being on the open road on his Harley!

December Gloria Bambaren - DAC Restaurant

Gloria Bambaren has been with The DAC for nearly 15 years! She is a Chef in the second floor kitchen where she prepares breakfast and lunch dishes for The DAC Restaurant. She is reliable, and dedicated and is consistent with producing exceptional meals. Gloria is originally from Mexico, and enjoys cooking food from different countries. Gloria has three children and she loves to spend time with her family. In her spare time, she does mission work in Peru. The DAC is fortunate to have such a loyal employee.

Thank you Members!” The DAC Staff would like to thank each and every member for their generosity in supporting the Holiday Bonus Program. You have made a difference in many of our lives by your generous contributions.
