*Gathering Great Is the LORD Our God #48A Verses 1, 4, 5, 6 Great is the LORD our God, and greatly to be praised. Upon a hill God’s city stands in glorious beauty raised— his holy mountain high, Mount Zion in the north, the city of the mighty King, the joy of all the earth.

Within your temple, LORD, in that most holy place, we on your loving-kindness dwell, the wonders of your grace. Your people sing your praise where’er your name is known; by ev’ry deed your hand has done your righteousness is shown.

Let Zion now rejoice and all her daughters sing; let them with thankfulness proclaim the judgments of their King. Mount Zion’s walls behold, about her ramparts go, and number all the lofty tow’rs that guard her from the foe.

Confession of Faith The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth I believe in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. Confession of Sin

Lord and God, you know what we are about to say in prayer, you know what we ought to say, and even what we need to say but cannot. Our sins trouble us, though they don’t trouble us as much as they should, for, in the final scrutiny of our thoughts and deeds, it is against you and you only that we have sinned. Forgive us for the wrongs we have done and the right things we have left undone; forgive us because we are often so nonchalant when we enter your presence in prayer and worship, thinking that we deserve to be here and have earned your grace. Remind us in our thoughtlessness that the forgiving grace you offer cost our Savior Christ the suffering of hatred and death. But you, God, had a plan we never would have thought of: you raised Jesus from the dead, and now the Lord Jesus Christ sits at your right hand interceding for us. It is that intercession that we need to infiltrate the words and thoughts of our prayer and bring unmerited grace and joyful peace. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We love to have children in the worship service. As parents train their children to worship God corporately, the nursery may be used, as needed, if you feel your child is becoming too restless and vocal.

Fallen Condition Focus: A favorite weapon in Satan’s arsenal is that of “tunnel vision” which leads us to focus on the “stuff” in the “real” world in which we are immersed: challenges, desired outcomes, issues, frustrations, etc. When we fall into this trap, we lose sight of the very real spiritual dimension in which we also live. This brings about a kind of “flatness” to life that is devoid of “awe.”

Main Point of Sermon: Chapter 4 sets the tone for the whole message of the Revelation. In it we see our Holy, Holy, Holy God who is worthy to be praised by all His creatures. The “Sea of History” lies open at His feet such that He is acknowledged as the God of all time, the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. He is truly “Awesome” and our lives and our worship should reverence Him as such.

The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be administered today. We are exhorted in Scripture to be reconciled one to another, in all humility, as we prepare to rejoice together in our reconciliation to the Father through Jesus Christ by one Spirit. Our Mercy Needs offering will be received today along with our general offering. Please designate your check accordingly. The offering this month will be sent to Mission to the World’s Compassion Ministry which enables MTW missionaries and national partners to respond quickly to emergency situations to meet physical needs and sharing the love of Christ. The first Sunday of the month is also a time when we collect nonperishable food items for the food pantry.

Adult Sunday School is taking a break during the month of August. Watch your bulletin for the new classes which resume on September 12th at the church.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT The LPC Session is calling a congregational meeting for Tuesday evening Aug 24, 2021, at 7 PM to recommend congregational approval of certain guidelines for a pastoral search committee as well as a job description for the office that the Session has approved. There will be a general briefing of the general recommendations on forming the search committee and the nominations process. Other items of business will be discussed and will be detailed in the forthcoming formal call for the meeting. Please take steps to ensure your availability for this important meeting.

TIME TO SUBMIT OFFICER NOMINATIONS At this time the nominating committee would like to invite all members of Liberty Church to submit nominations for Elder and Deacon. Candidates nominated by the nominating committee (and approved by the Session) will be invited to attend the leadership class, which will run in the fall of 2021. Candidates who feel the call of God, and successfully complete the leadership class will stand for election in January of 2022.

Please use the orange nominating card located on the back tables which includes whether you are nominating someone for the office of Elder or the office of Deacon. Nominations will be accepted through August 29 and may be submitted to a member of the nominating committee, or placed in the locked drop box on the back table. Please note one new operating policy enacted by your nominating committee: No one serving on the Nominating Committee will be considered as a nominee, nor anyone related to a Nominating Committee member (spouses, children, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, all in-laws, etc.). This policy has been enacted to protect the integrity of the process, the congregation, the committee members, and their relatives.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration of who should serve as your church officers. The chairman and vice-chairman of the nominating committee are Chuck Klein and Mark Fuhrer. 9 COMING VERY SOON Women’s Bible Study begins Thursday , September 9 at 7:00 in Fellowship Hall. “With my whole heart I have sought you; Oh, let me not wander from your commandments! OPEN HEARTS MINISTRY MEETINGS Back to School, Back to Serving! We will resume to regular Open Hearts ministry meetings on the last Wednesday of each month and hope you can join us! Open Hearts ministry aims to serve foster children, vulnerable families at risk for children entering foster care, and those who work in child welfare. 11 POSITIONS AVAILABLE AT ST. STEPHEN’S ACADEMY St. Stephen's Academy has a few positions available. The only requirement is to love God, attend a Bible believing Church, and love children. The position is Kindergarten Assistant in the morning, and overseeing their Kindergartners as their teacher during their afternoon lunch and enrichment activities. This position is 7.5 hours from 8:00-3:30. Start time can be a little bit flexible in the morning if needed. They also need an Aftercare Assistant. They are looking for a H.S. or College student who is willing to work from 3:15 or 3:30 until 6:00pm every day M-F or M-Th. They would be willing to split these days with two students. Words cannot express our appreciation for the beautiful Farewell Celebration you gave us last Sunday. Your cards and testimonies of the Lord's faithfulness through our ministry at Liberty was encouraging and profoundly humbling and sweet.

We want to thank you for the lovely bouquet of flowers, gifts, cards, and for the beautiful Matthew Bird print which we will value in the years ahead. We also want to thank all those who made the celebration possible by their hard work and efforts in planning the luncheon and setting it up. It truly blessed us by giving us such a wonderful send-off.

Thank you so much for your love, fellowship and kindness which we treasure most of all. We will miss you and will be praying for you in the days ahead.

We also hope that you can come and visit us in Lancaster and please continue to pray for us as we look for a new home. Even though we are miles apart, our future hope and our hearts are knitted together in the fellowship we share in Christ!

For our church family and needs in the body: • Pray for Mary Caldwell who will be discharged from Fairhaven August 13 to go home. Praise that her blood clots are gone. • Pray for Robbie Byrd as he serves on the staff of Harvey Cedars Bible Conference during the month of August. Pray that the experience will increase his faith and that God will use him in a mighty way. • Praise God that Pastor Barry & Margaret have a contract on their house. Pray that Settlement in August will go smoothly and for their search for a new home in Lancaster. • Pray for John and Tori Upperman who are in the process of adopting a 9 year old girl. • Pray for healing for Jan Duty and Val Thomas.

For extended family, friends and others: • Pray for Lorraine, a friend of Linda and Charles Runkles, who needs prayer as she struggles with her faith. Please pray that the Spirit might open her heart. Also please pray for Linda and Charles as they minister to her. • Pray for Cindy Watkins brother-in-law, Doug, who is having surgery to remove pre-cancer polyps from his colon. Pray that they will not have to remove parts of his colon. • Praise to God that Milt Greffen, Susan Smith’s dad, is healing well from his falls. Thanks to everyone at Liberty for your prayers and concern. • Pray for the spiritual health of marriages and families within the Body. • Pray for a recovery of our economy in the United States and Worldwide and that businesses will be able to find and hire the needed workers for their job openings. • Pray for first responders and our military and their families spiritual, emotional and physical health. • Pray for repentance and revival in our country that many people would come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

For Liberty Christian School: • Pray for the staff at Liberty Christian School as they continue to look for new staff to fill their open positions. Pray that God will supply the best candidates for the jobs. • Please pray for Liberty Christian School that enrollment may meet or exceed their enrollment in the Fall of last year. Also, please pray about volunteering at the school beginning in September to help with some of the programs, assist teachers or tutor some of the students. Paul & Stephanie Billings, Executive Director of Campus Outreach (CO), reaching out to students with the Gospel at George Washington, Georgetown, Howard, and American Universities in Washington, DC: • Are praising God that they were able to have their annual Alpha Project conference in person this year! It is aimed at helping young Christians become established in their faith. It was so encouraging to see new believers changed by God’s Word and Christian community. • The staff is gearing up for what will surely be a busy and eventful fall semester! Please pray for all of the new students who will be coming to DC this fall, that the Lord would be working in their hearts now.

The Greater Baltimore Center for Pregnancy Concerns (CPC), located on Howard St and another location in Baltimore, and in Essex: • Thank God that they were able to fund all their operating costs for the fiscal year ending in June - during a pandemic, no less!
