Adorno INTRODUCTION: IN QUEST OF A NEWER MUSICOLOGY Sixty years after its original publication, Max Horkheimer and Theo- dor W. Adorno’s Dialektic der Aufklärung resonates uncannily with our times. The central motifs of their bleak and horrifying diagnosis of the culture industry ring as true today as ever. While contemporary critics mostly regard Horkheimer and Adorno’s analysis of audience demand and reception dynamics as antiquated, this essay argues for the continued relevance of their indictment of culture under the (oppressive) authority of monopoly capital. In particular, the essay traces an emergent Schulterschluss between commercial and political power, with a special interest in the involvement of the music indus- try and the media conglomerates. This is not to say that contem- porary America operates under identical rules and constraints as the America of the 1940s. It does not. Nor is it to argue that capitalist America essentially approximates fascism, as Horkheimer and Adorno sometimes imply. The opening arguments of “The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception,” for example, are predicated on this fundamental similarity: “Even the aesthetic activities of political opposites are one in their enthusiastic obedience to the rhythm of the iron system. The decorative industrial management of buildings and exhibition centers in authoritarian countries are much the same as anywhere else” (1997, 120).

Breastfeeding length: It is best if you feed your baby only breast milk for the first six months of their life. After they are six months old, you can begin offering them foods to try along with feeding them your breast milk. Breastfeeding for the first six months makes sure that both you and your baby get the most health benefits. Making enough milk: Your breasts make milk when baby empties them. Make sure that you are feeding your baby every 2-3 hours or more so that your breasts empty often. Most newborns want to nurse every hour when they are young. They will drink very little milk, but want it often. Feeding them every time they are hungry will tell your body to increase your supply of milk so that you have plenty when baby needs it. Away from baby: When you aren’t with your baby, you will usually need to empty your breasts so that your body makes more milk. This is called expression. Saving this expressed milk will let you feed it to baby later so that they don’t miss out on your milk. If you know you are going to be away from baby, you can express extra milk and have someone give it to baby while you are gone.

    Sparrow Discography by Mike Callahan, David Edwards & Patrice Eyries © 2018 by Mike Callahan Sparrow Records Discography Sparrow is a Contemporary Christian label founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn. Hearn was the A&R Director for Word Records’ Myrrh label, founded a few years earlier also as a Contemporary Christian label. Sparrow also released records under their Birdwing subsidiary. Hearn’s Sparrow label was in competition with Hearn’s old boss, Word Records, and was quite successful. Even today, Sparrow is among the top Christian labels. Hearn sold the label to EMI in 1992, and it was placed under the Capitol Christian Music Group. Sparrow signed a distribution agreement with MCA in April, 1981 to release their product in the secular market while the regular Sparrow issues were distributed to Christian stores and Christian radio stations. The arrangement with MCA lasted until October, 1986, when Sparrow switched distribution to Capitol.
