Call to Worship The Lord be with you. And with your Spirit.

Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.

-Psalm 33:1-5 Holy, Holy, Holy

Holy, holy, holy! Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Though the darkness hide Thee, Early in the morning Though the eye of sinful man our song shall rise to Thee; Thy glory may not see; Holy, holy, holy, Only Thou art holy; merciful and mighty! there is none beside Thee, God in three Persons, Perfect in power, in love, blessed Trinity! and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee, Lord God Almighty! Casting down their golden All Thy works shall praise Thy name crowns around the glassy sea; in earth, and sky, and sea; Cherubim and seraphim Holy, holy, holy; falling down before Thee, merciful and mighty! Who was, and is, God in three Persons, and evermore shall be. blessed Trinity!

Prayer of Invocation

Scripture Reading Isaiah 61

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; 3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified. 4 They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. 5 Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks; foreigners shall be your plowmen and vinedressers; 6 but you shall be called the priests of the LORD; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast. 7 Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.

8 For I the LORD love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

9 Their offspring shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the LORD has blessed. 10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.

The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God

Confession of Sin God of all grace, we come before you today bearing in our hearts the weight of our own lives and struggles. We confess that often they have consumed our focus, and we have chosen to pursue peace for ourselves instead of your Shalom for the world. We ask Lord that instead, we would allow the pain that we feel and that which we see in the world around us to change our hearts. Grant us a willingness to suffer as you suffered, for the sake of others, that there may be true peace. Heal our apathy and our blindness. Help us to put our faith into how we live, that we might embody the good news that you bring. In the name of your son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy. From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight. -Psalm 72:12-14

People of God, receive the goodness and mercy of your Savior! We receive His mercies with thanksgiving! Now, lift up your hearts! We lift them up to the Lord!

Ah, Holy Jesus

Ah, holy Jesus, For me, kind Jesus, how hast thou offended, was thy incarnation, that we to judge thee thy mortal sorrow, hath in hate pretended? and thy life's oblation; By foes derided, thy death of anguish by thine own rejected, and thy bitter passion, O most afflicted! for my salvation.

Who the guilty? Therefore, kind Jesus, Who brought this upon thee? since I cannot pay thee, Alas, my treason, I do adore thee, Jesus, hath undone thee! and will ever pray thee, 'Twas I, Lord Jesus, think on thy pity I it was denied thee; and thy love unswerving, I crucified thee. not my deserving.

Lo the Good Shepherd for the sheep is offered; the slave hath sinned, and the Son hath suffered. For our atonement, while we nothing heeded, God interceded.

Greeting of Peace

Sermon – Shaynor Newsome Proverbs 1:1-7 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Come Thou Fount

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, O to grace how great a debtor, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Daily I’m constrained to be! Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Let that grace now, like a fetter, Call for songs of loudest praise. Bind my wandering heart to Thee. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Sung by flaming tongues above. Prone to leave the God I love! Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Here’s my heart,O take and seal it, Mount of God’s unchanging love. Seal it for Thy courts above.

Here I raise my Ebenezer, Hither by thy help I’m come. And I hope by thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood;

Confession of Faith The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

Communion

Let us proclaim the mystery of the faith. Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again. Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the feast. The gifts of God are for the people of God. Come eat and drink with thanksgiving. Hallelujah!

It is Well with My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, My sin, O, the bliss of this glorious thought! When sorrows like sea billows roll; My sin, not in part but the whole, Whatever my lot, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Thou hast taught me to say, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! It is well, it is well, with my soul. REFRAIN REFRAIN: It is well (it is well), And Lord, haste the day With my soul (with my soul), When my faith shall be sight, It is well, it is well, with my soul. The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, Though Satan should buffet, though trials And the Lord shall descend, should come, Even so, it is well with my soul. Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, REFRAIN And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

REFRAIN

Jesus Paid it All

I hear the Savior say, When from my dying bed, “Your strength indeed is small; My ransomed soul shall rise, Child of weakness, watch and pray, “Jesus died my soul to save,” Find in Me your all in all.” Shall rend to vaulted skies.

For nothing good have I, And now complete in Him, Whereby Thy grace to claim, My robe His righteousness, Lord, wash my garments white, Close sheltered ‘neath His side, In the blood of Calvary’s Lamb. I am divinely blessed.

Lord, now indeed I find, REFRAIN Thy power and Thine alone, Can change the leper’s spots, And when before the throne, And melt this heart of stone. I stand in Him complete, I’ll lay my trophies down, REFRAIN: All down at Jesus’ feet Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe! Sin had left a crimson stain; REFRAIN He washed it white as snow!

Benediction The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. - 2 Corinthians 13:14
