Landsborough Highway Construction activities The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to inform people planning to travel through the Central West region that reconstruction activities are being undertaken on the Landsborough Highway.

Reconstruction activities commenced late-2012 and are scheduled for completion late-2013, weather permitting. Throughout the Central West there are several stretches of the Landsborough Highway that will undergo reconstruction works.

Winton- Works will be underway from September 2013 to December 2013, weather permitting. A minor detour at Cockatoo Creek will be used while works are underway. Works will include stabilising, patching and major culvert repairs. Batter protection works 15 kilometres west of Barcaldine. Longreach-Winton Works will be underway from February to December 2013, weather permitting. Works involve stabilising, patching and drainage repairs. A major side track at Jessamine Creek (approximately four kilometres) will be used for these works from mid-late 2013.

Works to stabilise batter (road edges) and under bridge erosion at Thomson River will commence early-2013.

Barcaldine-Longreach Reconstruction works commenced mid-April 2012 and are scheduled for completion late-2013, weather permitting.

Several temporary detour tracks are open between Completed Barcoo River Bridge works Barcaldine and Longreach. Detour signage indicates entry 60 kilometres north-west of Tambo. and exit points.

Patching works will commence early-November 2012. At times traffic may operate under a stop and go arrangement, controlled by traffic signals or traffic controllers. The highway speed limit has been reduced to lower limits in some areas to allow safe access to work sites and local roads.

Blackall-Barcaldine Reconstruction works are scheduled to run from May to November 2013, weather permitting. The works will involve repairing the road and drainage structures.

Tambo-Blackall Reconstruction works on the Barcoo River Bridge were Jessamine Creek located approximately completed early-October 2012. The bridge is open to traffic. 5 kilometres south-east of Winton. -Tambo Works will be underway from early November 2012 to late-2013, weather permitting. Reconstruction works will include pavement repairs, pavement replacement, stabilisation, widening and bitumen resurfacing.
