Micromax Yu Yureka The first Yu device from Micromax is the new king in the sub 10k category — Rohit Arora icromax and Cyanogen’s first Yu device “Yureka” is a sub 10K smartphone. Its specs sheet can definitely spin your head Mwith highlights being the 64-bit 615 CPU, 2GB RAM, 4G connectivity and a lot more. Affordable but not at all cheap: Unlike those glossy plastic backs which is the common sight in budget , Yureka fits in a fine textured removable back panel (moonstone grey colour), which somewhat resembles One Plus One’s back but has a soft touch to it and feels very good to hold. It does not take fingerprints, smudges and adds a grip to the device. The large device is ergonomically constructed with buttons rightly positioned over the side edges. Overall we found the design quite pleasing and much better than Xiaomi’s Note. The power of Cyanogen OS: Yureka comes preloaded with Cyanogen 11, an Android version which offers an array of customisation that touches each and every aspect of the device. For instance, you can control display brightness by sliding your finger on notification bar, alter the functionality of touch capacitive buttons and can even take them to screen. Then there are themes which changes Price: `8,990 font, icons, notification panel, etc. So you might never look for a launcher in Play Store to customise Yureka, it’s all in there already. Key Specs: 5.5” IPS LCD HD screen (267ppi) Gorilla glass 3 with Overall the stock calendar, icons, widgets, notification panel, etc. look Oleophobic coating, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor MSM8939 quite refreshing on Yureka. (64 Bit), 2GB RAM, Cyanogen OS 11/Android kitkat 4.4.4, 16 GB internal Display disappoints: Though Yureka features a 720p display memory & expandable up to 32GB, 13MP autofocus rear camera (Sony (not Full HD), it is the large 5.5” size which results in a not so good IMX135 CMOS Sensor) with LED flash, 5MP front camera, Dual-SIM count of 267 PPI. This is not the best combination as the low (GSM+GSM), 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, 2500 mAh battery pixel count (on this size) results in poor sharpness and not so vivid Pros: The best value for money smartphone, very well crafted with multimedia content. And we also noticed that the colour reproduction a soft matte finish back, weight is very well managed, 4G enabled, of the LCD panel has a bluish tone. But the overall performance of the Cyanogen OS with its customisation abilities, loud and clear output speakers, on door replacement and services display is not bad. You also get Gorilla Glass 3 which is a welcome addition at this price-point. Cons: Display has a bluish tone and pixel count is not the best (267ppi), available online only A powerhouse: Micromax has integrated the 64 bit octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 chipset (clocked at 1.5GHz) which Write to: Micromax House Ph: +91-124-4811000, Email: [email protected] handled multiple tasks thrown by us without any issues.
