As previously touched on, this former working mill is positioned within the gentle vale of Afon Goch which ultimately runs towards the sea at Dulas Bay, nestled beneath the western slopes of the renowned rise known as Mynydd Bodafon on the far side of the valley. This landmark is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which includes the majority of the coastline that stretches from Amlwch to the north and Moelfre further south. But before we delve under the skin so-to-speak, it would be worthwhile touching on the history of the mill for just a moment, to understand its provenance and how it came to where it is now.

The present day Melin Esgob Cornmill appears to date back to the early 19th century on the site of a Medieval mill. It would originally have been known as Bodafon Mill in 1352, the first reference to Melin Esgob dates to 1425. In the early- mid 19th century, the nearby farm (of the same name) and mill were owned by Sir Richard Williams Bulkeley Esq, and farmed by Richard Lewis (who is also recorded as running a grinding mill). The present mill building probably dates from this period.

With all that provenance, Melin Esgob Cornmill has now well and truly entered the 21st century with a definite eye on the past, something which has been reflected in its renovation into what is now a family home. The interior (the main living space) incorporates the original mill machinery which stands proud on full display and is an authentic reminder of its working roots, whilst the vaulted ceilings and exposed 'A' framed beams create a real sense of light and space. The grinding wheel extends into the lower ground floor, whereby the staircase spirals the central hub in a graceful style. Externally, the water wheel has been restored so you're never in doubt of its past whilst it's certainly an eye-catching feature.

This is a practical and roomy home that incorporates contemporary touches throughout, creating a complimentary blend of old and new. The attention to detail and quality is evident throughout, such as granite worktops to the kitchen, en-suites (with under-floor heating) to all bedrooms, column style radiators, an integrated sound system and a large multi-fuel stove to the main living room being just a few highlights.

The countryside hamlet of Llandyfrydog and Parc is located inland between the villages of Amlwch, Llanerchymedd and Benllech which are positioned on the northern coast of Anglesey. The fabulous coastline situated nearby offers such gems as Lligwy beach and Dulas estuary which even has its own shipwreck to explore – mind the tide though! Just a short distance to the west lies Llyn Alaw, an award

winning conservation site which is an ideal leisure venue – great for picnics, fishing, walking and bird watching. It is also the starting point for one of the four main cycle trails on Anglesey, a pleasant way to explore the rugged coastline and beaches which extend for over 120 miles! Llangefni, in the centre of the island is an administrative market town with many shops, supermarkets and other facilities readily available. Both primary and secondary schools can also be found in the town, along with college facilities. The historic town of Amlwch to the north has a fascinating history associated with the discovery of copper on Parys Mountain. Anglesey is quite a unique island, separated from the mainland of North Wales by the famous Menai Strait and accessed via two different, yet equally fascinating bridges. London can be easily reached from Bangor in roughly 3½ hours by train, whilst the A55 Expressway provides a fast link to North Wales' coastal towns, Chester and the motorway network. Bangor also boasts a major university, fantastic shopping and a wide choice of schools. From Holyhead, a trip across the Irish Sea via the Seacat takes less than an hour, straight into the heart of Dublin.

From Llangefni, follow the B5111 in the direction of Llanerchymedd. On reaching the centre of the village, bear right at the roundabout (second exit) and continue along the B5111 heading towards Amlwch. After approximately 1 mile, turn right signposted for Parc and continue for roughly 2 miles to the village crossroads. Turn right signposted Llangefni and proceed for approximately 350 yards, taking the first turning on your left. Follow this road down the hill and over the bridge (sharp right hand bend). The driveway for the property is located just a short distance further on your right hand side.
