2004 Barolo DOCG Essence Piemonte £ 79.00 Barolo DOCG “Essenze” Riserva is a Barolo blend of the finest pedigree. It is produced only in special vintages. Starting with 2000, first year of Vite Colte in Barolo village, they selected small lots of cru-grown Barolos from prestigious vineyards to create a prestigious Riserva blend. Barolo, one of Italy’s great wines, has the capability to enchant and enhance life. From Vite Colte, an award winning winery, this wine, blended from grapes grown in the best vineyards, is testimony for that position. A deep ruby red tending to garnet, a complex nose that includes ethereal, with hints of violets and blackberry jam, licorice and cloves. On the palates it is dry, full-bodied, with silky tannins and a lovely chocolate, berry aftertaste.

2011 Capichera ASSAJE Sardegna £ 99.00 The first red wine produced by Capichera. “Delightful aromas of cherries, blackberries, myrtle, spices, eucalyptus, cocoa powder and salty sensations The Ragnedda family have been land owners in Arzachena, in the northern region of Gallura, since the 1900s. Capichera produce rich and deeply complex wines which are considered to be among the best wines in Sardinia. 100% Carignano The colour is intense ruby red with purple hues. The wine releases a delightful blend of ethereal, heady aromas with hints of black berries, bottled cherries, blackberries, myrtle, spices, eucalyptus, cocoa powder and salty sensations. Rounded, warm and tangy on the palate, with rich, mouth-filling, ripe fruit and finely soft tannins.

2010 Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Brigaldara Veneto £ 118.00 .Brigaldara is one of the best producers of Amarone, a wine that is now beginning to be regarded as one of Italy’s jewels. Made from dried grapes in the Valpolicella’s Classico (and best) region and with a full, dry flavour. An enormous, muscular wine with tones of damsons and herbs that is best drunk with game or strongly flavoured cheese.

2012 Amarone della Valpolicella "CAJO" Ca'Botta Veneto £ 130.00 This luxurious Amarone is very deep and dark in colour. It is full bodied yet balanced with convincing yet sensible tanins. Oak further sheaths and smoothes the overall perception of the wine. The palate brings out dark chocolate and ripe pomegranate. Aroma is complex and slightly spicy with prominent notes of cherry and raisins. Long and smooth aftertaste 2010 Montevetrano colli del salerno rosso Campania £ 140.00 Although the wine was created only in 1991 it has made a significant impact from its first vintage when Robert Parker gave it a top score and regarded it as one of the best wine from southern Italy. Winemaker Riccardo Cottarella created this bordelaise blend with the local Aglianico grape. Originally created as a wine just for friends, its production, even now despite its reputation, is small, barely 30,000 bottles.50% Cabernet Sauvignon 30% Aglianico 20% Merlot. A wine to represent both Campania and the modern style of wines from one of the region’s most important producers. A lovely bouquet of berry fruit with a touch of grassiness, on the palate it is rounded and an easy lingering finish.

2012 Barbera d'Asti Bricco dell' Uccelone Piemonte £ 155.00 Intense ruby red with purple hues. Notes of red berries, mint and vanilla. The bouquet is rich, aromatic and complex with a remarkable intensity and multilayered concentration. The wine is generous, voluptuous and full-bodied with a multidimensional structure, perfectly balanced between the grape characteristics and high quality oak, with a persistent long finish. Heavy meat dishes, roasts, also seasoned meat dishes and aged cheeses.

2011 Tignanello IGT Antinori Toscana £ 189.00 This was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first red wine to be blended with non-traditional varieties (like Cabernet) and one of the first Chianti reds not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is made from a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in barriques for about 12 months and for a further 12 months in the bottles. An intense ruby red in color with purple highlights, the 2013 Tignanello shows a nose of great red fruit intensity along with highly pleasurable notes of vanilla, chocolate, and leather from the well balanced contribution and fusion of the aromas of the oak. The spicy and balsamic sensations which give additional complexity are also quite important. The wine is ample and enveloping on the palate with supple tannins and a savory freshness which fully respects the character and personality of the Sangiovese grape. The balance between acidity and tannins is excellent, and the finish and aftertaste are of a lovely length and persistence 2004 Gaja Brunello di Montalcino Ris. -Sugarile- Toscana £ 225.00 In 1994 Gaja acquired its first property in Toscana, Pieve Santa Restituta south west of Montalcino. The property's 16 hectares (40 acres) of vineyards produce three Brunello wines. This wine is made from grapes grown on the 4ha. Sugarille vineyard. This vineyard was first recorded in the inventory of Pieve parish church in 1547. A big muscular wine with dense fruit behind it and extreme length on the palate. A majestic wine.
