NAVILLUS CONTRACTING ADVANCES CONCRETE WORK FOR BROOKFIELD AT TWO ‘MANHATTAN WEST’ TOWERS
PROMINENT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY ACTIVE AT BOTH 72-STORY COMMERCIAL BUILDING AND 66-STORY RESIDENTIAL TOWER
NEW YORK, October 26, 2016- Navillus Contracting, a New York City-based, unionized construction company specializing in concrete, masonry, tile and stone, and general contracting, has been advancing concrete work at two large-scale buildings at Manhattan West on the borough’s west side.
Brookfield, developer of Manhattan West, says the overall seven-million-square-foot project will ultimately stand as “a thriving community made up of state-of-the-art, custom-designed office spaces, curated food, retail, pop-up experiences, abundant green space, homes and a boutique hotel.”
Navillus Contracting is assuming responsibility for concrete work at two structures that together represent a total of approximately 2.9 million square feet of the overall development. This amounts to roughly 41 percent of the entire project. Tishman, an AECOM company, is serving as construction manager for the project.

Under the first of the two Navillus Contracting engagements, Brookfield tapped Navillus Contracting to provide the superstructure concrete element of the 66-floor Manhattan West residential tower situated on West 31st Street between Ninth and Tenth avenues. The 844-unit, 814,000-square-foot property is designed by SLCE Architects.
Navillus Contracting began operations at the site in March of 2015 and is scheduled to complete work there next March, shortly before the building’s scheduled opening.
On the second engagement, the company is undertaking the concrete component at the 2.1- million-square-foot One Manhattan West, a 72-story commercial tower rising on the corner of 33rd Street and Ninth Avenue. Navillus Contracting’s assignment includes both the structure’s concrete core as well as the concrete portion of the property’s metal deck.
Navillus Contracting commenced concrete work in June at the building, which is designed by the SOM architecture firm. The construction company expects to complete its part of the project in May 2018. The office building is slated to open in the third quarter of 2019.
