Events attended by cadets and staff up and down the country have brought the organisation well and truly into the public eye and, in so doing, have bolstered the ACO’s reputation as a leading youth organisation. It has also laid the foundations for attracting new adult volunteers and cadets, helping the organisation towards achieving its aim of 50,000 cadets by 2018. African Adventure - 18 Aside from that, it’s business as usual reflecting the busy, dynamic and varied programme undertaken by cadets throughout the country. This ACP is written for the newly appointed Corporal undergoing training to perform that role. The rank of Corporal is a Junior Non Commissioned Officer (JNCO) in the Air Training Corps. The difference between a rank and a classification, such as Leading or Senior Cadet, is that it is awarded through ability and subject to a vacancy existing. Given an academic ability and the appropriate training any cadet within the Corps has the opportunity to reach the classification of Staff Cadet. Not every cadet will be appointed to the rank of Corporal or above. 2. You will have earned the rank of Corporal by demonstrating to your Commanding Officer that you have the ability to perform the tasks required of a JNCO in the ATC and because a vacancy for that rank exists in your unit. What a JNCO does 3. To help you develop your skills and knowledge a job specification for the JNCO is given in ACTO 7, Annex A and is repeated here in Table 1.1.

  • The Canadian Cadet Movement and the Boy Scouts of Canada in the Twentieth Century
“No Mere Child’s Play”: The Canadian Cadet Movement and the Boy Scouts of Canada in the Twentieth Century by Kevin Woodger A thesis submitted in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of History University of Toronto © Copyright by Kevin Woodger 2020 “No Mere Child’s Play”: The Canadian Cadet Movement and the Boy Scouts of Canada in the Twentieth Century Kevin Woodger Doctor of Philosophy Department of History University of Toronto Abstract This dissertation examines the Canadian Cadet Movement and Boy Scouts Association of Canada, seeking to put Canada’s two largest uniformed youth movements for boys into sustained conversation. It does this in order to analyse the ways in which both movements sought to form masculine national and imperial subjects from their adolescent members. Between the end of the First World War and the late 1960s, the Cadets and Scouts shared a number of ideals that formed the basis of their similar, yet distinct, youth training programs. These ideals included loyalty and service, including military service, to the nation and Empire. The men that scouts and cadets were to grow up to become, as far as their adult leaders envisioned, would be disciplined and law-abiding citizens and workers, who would willingly and happily accept their place in Canadian society. However, these adult-led movements were not always successful in their shared mission of turning boys into their ideal-type of men. The active participation and complicity of their teenaged members, as peer leaders, disciplinary subjects, and as recipients of youth training, was central to their success.

  • RAF Halton Is One of the Largest RAF Stations in Terms of Numbers of Personnel in the UK
Vale of Aylesbury Draft Local Plan Consultation, July-September 2016. Representation by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation on behalf of the Ministry of Defence Background 1 RAF Halton is one of the largest RAF stations in terms of numbers of personnel in the UK. It is currently the RAF’s major site for development training for Airmen and women. The Station forms an important part of the local economy and community and includes extensive areas of built development. 2 RAF Halton covers approximately 291 hectares and consists of 2 sites straddling the B4009. East Camp contains living, messing, welfare, social and support facilities. West Camp contains training, teaching; administration and sports facilities. North of West Camp is Kermode Hall the SNCO’s mess whilst the Grade II* listed Halton Hall acts as the Officers’ Mess. The grounds of Halton Hall are listed parklands of high landscape quality. There is a Neolithic Long Barrow within East Camp. Topography and adjacent woodlands limits views over the Station from surrounding areas. 3 Whilst the Station does contain some important heritage assets and areas of high environmental quality the majority of the site is ordinary or low in terms of landscape value. Detail of Representation 4. The DIO previously made representations at the Issues and Options stage of the Local Plan, December 2015. At that time DIO asked the Council to consider as part of the Joint Review of the Green Belt whether there were areas of the site within the current Green Belt that should no longer be categorised as such. 5. DIO contended that in the context of the extensive built development on large areas of the RAF Halton estate that the Council should consider the appropriateness of these areas remaining in Green Belt as these areas perform poorly against the Green Belt purposes set out in National policy.

RAF Football Association - E-Bulletin RAF FA CUP ‘THE KEITH CHRISTIE TROPHY’ AND RAF FA PLATE 19/20 UPDATE With the RAF Cup now in full swing, the second round produced some more exciting ties and saw some big names exit the competition. RAF Leeming’s away trip to Akrotiri was the eagerly anticipated tie of the round, however it proved to be a tough trip for the visitors as they were on the receiving end of a heavy 5-1 defeat. SAC Liam Thornton grabbed four of the goals, taking his overall tally to six and making him the current top scorer in the competition. RAF Brize Norton faced the long journey up to Lossiemouth and it proved to be successful as they ground out a 1-0 win with Sgt Dave Wanless scoring the all-important goal, Brize Norton will be hoping for a slightly shorter journey if they are drawn away in the next round. SAC Liam Wood scored his first two goals of the competition helping RAF Northolt to an away win at Wyton with RAF Coningsby also picking up a convincing away victory running out 4-0 winner against JFC Chicksands & RAF Henlow. RAF Honington who have a great history with the competition were knocked out at the hands of RAF Odiham thanks to a single goal from SAC Clarke Goulding. RAF FA E-Bulletin – RAF Cup Update Elsewhere, RAF Shawbury and RAF Marham both scored four goals each to take them through with victories over MOD St Athan and RAF Waddington respectively.
