t was yet another successful conference in Manila with more than 250+ independent international forwarders with a global focus and local solutions that joined and participated in this year’s conference. IIt was all worthwhile, with more busy days in the memorable activities we’ve spent with each other, it’s really where friendships are made.

Greeted by the tropical country’s bright and sunny day, everyone enjoyed a game of golf at Villamor Air Base Golf Club. Making the best swing of them all was Oliver Marbach from Nova Traffic who was declared as the top golfer of the game.

Our Filipino-themed welcome cocktail reception sponsored by CT Freight Pty Ltd greeted everyone that evening. Everyone enjoyed the classic Filipino dishes we served with local beers as they met with other delegates. We also had an outstanding cultural dance performance provided by the Tourism Board of the Philippines (TBP).

We officially launched our 17th Annual Meeting on the second day of the conference on March 26, 2019. The Samba Performance broke the ice before we went on stage for our traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony led by our Director, Nils Walle, with the sponsors: Royal Cargo Inc., State Logistics, RWOutsourcing, SE Global Logistics SA DE CV, Resource Freight Pte Ltd, Perimeter Global Logistics, Korman Shipping, Co., Ltd., CT Freight Pty. Afterwards, we had our community open mic that allowed sponsors to introduce themselves and other members who took part in the activity. We also had our keynote speaker, Oliver Ortiz, who spoke on the subject of “Digitalization of Freight Forwarding” and Mark Millar: Asia’s leading speaker and a respected authority on logistics and supply chain strategies who addressed the subject of “Shifts beyond Globalization -- Into the Asian Century”. Finally, we also had our Diamond Sponsor Speaker, Mr. Michael Raeuber, the CEO of Royal Cargo.

In the afternoon of Day 2, we had our first set of face-to-face meetings with more than 250+ independent international forwarders that met with their desired delegates. As we continue with day 3, everyone was excited to join our city tour while wearing their CLN shirts and limited caps. The tour was backed with our very own police escorts, giving a real VIP experience.

We can’t end this homecoming hype in Manila just yet, we gave them another memorable night during happy hour in another venue just across Makati Shangri-La, Manila at Johnny B. Good sponsored by CALENBERG OVERSEA LOGISTICS GMBH & CO. KG. Jam-packed with delegates, everyone enjoyed the rock-and-roll environment blended with our DJ mix. ur #CLN2019 Welcome Cocktail was indeed a night to remember. Surrounded by delegates wearing their tropical/beach attire from floral tops, boho dresses to a Baywatch-inspired outfit completed with a lifebuoy Oshows that CLN members enjoyed this 17th Annual Partnership Meeting at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Manila, Philippines.

Aside from the theme which was inspired by the tropical climate of our host country, this year’s annual meeting was adorned by decoration and food that showcased Filipino culture, including the Bahay Kubo (Nipa Hut); Banderitas (Bunting); famous Filipino corn nuts; Filipino chocolate candies; coconut trees on display; Lechon (roasted pig); Sapin-Sapin (glutinous rice) and many more.

The welcome cocktail was concluded with the Barrio Fiesta folk dance of Sindaw Philippines Performing Arts Guild provided by the Tourism Board of the Philippines (TBP).
