Barth in the Opdai-Sunndai district in the north-western part of Southern Norway in 1936, the conciusion has been arrived at that rock masses of the said district, hitherto generally regarded as beionging to the Archæan, must represent younger rocks, Iargeiy Eocambrian feidspathic sandstone (sparagmite) in highiy metamorphic facies. The present contribution gives the results of more comprehensive fieid investigations undertaken in 1937 with the object of settling more de finiteiy the question of the age, and aiso of the structurai conditions, of the rock-compiexes. �ORSK GEOLOGISK TIDSSKRIFT 32 LITT OM TROLLHEIMEN UNDER SISTE ISTID AV ARNE GRØNLIE. Det har i de siste åra vært ført en livlig diskusjon i Naturen om det var isfri områder i Trollheimen under siste istid. Diskusjonen ble reist av NILS A. SøRENSEN som i mars 1949 hadde en artikkel med tittel: <<Gjevilvasskammene- nunatakker i Trollheimens midte?>>. SøRENSEN peker her på at det på Hemre Gjelvilvasskam i ei høgd på ca. 1400 m o.h. er 3 steinfri jordlag som han meiner er fra siste interglasialtid. På toppen av Midtre Gjevilvasskam (1640 m o.h.) er et liknende jordlag. Vi skal ha å gjøre med dannelser av noenlunde samme slag som ROLF NORDHAGEN har påvist bl.a. på Sørøya (NORD HAGE� 1945 og seinere).l Han konkluderer med at dersom forvit ringsjordrestene i Gjevilvasskammene er interglasiale, kunne siste istids kåpebre i disse områda ikke ha nådd høgre opp enn til et nivå som i dag ligger ca. 1350 m o.h. Dette meiner han ikke står i strid med resultata av den kvartærologiske forsking på Møre og i Sør Trøndelag. For å vise dette finner SøRENSEN gradienten for breen fra Gjevilvasskammene til Ørlandsstadiet og til UNDAs' Rundestadium. 2 Dersom han forutsetter at Ørlandsstadiet representerer yttergrensa for siste istids ismasser, får han en gradient som varierer mellom 1! 70 og 1!100. (Han rekner da gradienten langs de naturlige passa sjer og daler som isen måtte følge). Dette meiner han er for store verdier. Der::.om Rundestadiet representerer den ytre grensa, får han en gradient som varierer mellom 1/120 og 1/160 . -

Forskrift om vern av Saltfjellet-Svartisen nasjonalpark i Beiarn, Bodø, Meløy, Rana, Rødøy og Saltdal kommuner i Nordland fylke. Fastsatt ved kongelig resolusjon ..........................med hjemmel i lov 19. juni 2009 nr. 100 om forvaltning av naturens mangfold (naturmangfoldloven) § 34 jf.§ 35 og § 62. Fremmet av Klima- og miljødepartementet § 1. Formål Formålet med Saltfjellet-Svartisen nasjonalpark er å bevare et stort og vakkert naturområde som inneholder særegne og representative økosystemer og landskap og som er uten tyngre naturinngrep. I nasjonalparken skal ingen varig påvirkning av naturmiljøet eller kulturminner finne sted, med mindre slik påvirkning er en forutsetning for å ivareta verneformålet. Nasjonalparken skal sikre variasjonsbredden av naturtyper og landskap i et naturgeografisk sentralt område der variasjonene i naturforholdene er særlig markert og verdifull. Her finnes nord- og sørgrensen for en rekke arter som skal ivaretas. Området skal ivareta rike botaniske interessante arter og et kjerneområde for den norske fjellrevbestanden. Saltfjellet-Svartisen ivaretar større intakte økosystemer som den meget produktive Stormdalen, de viktige våtmarksområdene Krukkimyrene og Riebbievaggi. Landskapet er variert og storslått og nasjonalparken sikrer områder fra fjord til fjell i Nordfjorden, og fra kyst til innland. Nasjonalparken skal også sikre et av Norges største isbremassiver, Svartisen, interessante avsmeltningsområder og glasiale løsmasseavsetninger. Saltfjellet – Svartisen skal også bidra til å sikre deler av kjerneområdet for norske grotte og karst- forekomster, herunder Pikhågan, Jordtullasystemet, Marmorslottet og Jarbrudalen med Russåga, Norges største uregulerte underjordiske elv. I tillegg skal nasjonalparken sammen med Gåsvatnan, Saltfjellet og Melfjorden landskapsvernområder og Blakkådalen, Dypen, Fisktjørna og Semska-Stødi naturreservater bidra til å bevare et sammenhengende naturområde som også inneholder mange samiske og andre kulturminner. -

Distribution of Boreus westwoodi Hagen, 1866 and Boreus hyemalis (L., 1767) (Mecoptera) in Norway. Norwegian Journal of Entomology 58, 73–80. An extensive material collected during nearly fifty years adds new detailed information on the distribution of the winter active insects Boreus westwoodi Hagen, 1866 and B. hyemalis (L., 1767) in Norway. Since females are difficult to identify, the new data rely on males. Based on the revised Strand-system, the following geographical regions are new to B. westwoodi: Ø, BØ, VAY, ON, TEI, TEY, MRI, MRY, and TRY. For B. hyemalis, AK, BØ, TEI, RY, SFI, and NTI are new regions. While B. westwoodi is widespread in Norway, including the three northernmost counties, B. hyemalis seems to be restricted to the south, with the northernmost record in NTI. In Sweden, the situation is similar: B. westwoodi is widespread, while B. hyemalis has been recorded as far north as Västerbotten, at a latitude corresponding to the northernmost record in Norway. Primary Production Enhancement by Artificial Upwelling in a Western Norwegian Fjord

Pumping 2 m3 s–1 brackish surface water to a depth of 30 m created an artificial upwelling of nutrient-rich deeper water. The entrainment of deeper water into the buoyant brackish plume resulted in a transport of about 450 kg d–1 nitrate, 760 kg d–1 silicate and 75 kg d–1 phosphate to an intrusion depth of 8 to 10 m. The artificial upwelling approximately tripled mean chlorophyll a (chl a) concentration and related primary production rate during the summer within an influence area of 10 km2 near the head of the fjord. The size of the area of influence and the relative increase of the algae biomass within it depend on both the water exchange and the photosynthetic effectiveness. The relatively high silicate content of the deeper water stimulated diatom growth inside the area influenced by the artificial upwelling. A higher stable level of phytoplankton biomass, dominated by nontoxic species, would probably increase the carrying capacity of seston-feeding shellfish and could form the basis of more predictable mussel cultivation in fjords.
