Abstract: With the increase in the standard of living, most of the families have at least one vehicle, typically a car, to move around easily and quickly. Along with other maintenance tyre replacement is one such kind whenever a tyre fail. Often the car is provided with wheel nuts remover and for instant replacement of the spare tyre. But it is really a difficult process. Based on this we have fabricated portable powered nut removerand tightner . The tool is designed to remove and tighten the wheel nuts with easy maintenance, easy storage, easy to handle and using minimum available energy source from car battery. The main concept of the proposed system is nut removing and tightening wheel nuts with less human effort.

INTRODUCTION

Car is not a symbol of luxurious anymore. It is a need for every family. People need car due to several reasons. Some of them are, to get to a destination, to travel conveniently, to do daily job and to move things to a greater distance. The problem occurs the most during car operation is the problem with tyre puncture [1]. The flat tyre needed to be replaced with spare tyre. Vehicle is an important machine in human daily life. Nowadays, each family has at least one car to make the transportation easy and faster. For a car, the tool set-up for each vehicle is a T-nut or L-nut wrench and car jack which is hard to use for a women or teen to remove or tight car’s nut due to high required torque. The tool used to remove the wheel nuts should be designed for economic, easy to handle and requires small space for storage. To atomize the labour work in tightening or loading the nuts and focuses on the minimization of human effort and time consume. The very essence of our economic life and growth is dependent in a great part upon the continued improvement of Mechanical fields. To aid these fields, we have fabricated portable powered nut remover and tightner tool which can be widely used to tight/loose the products like automobile wheel, Engine nuts and other Automobile components. Extreme care should be there to tight/loose the nuts at different layouts. It is helps to achieve accurate and identical tightening nuts layouts in mass production. We have fabricated thisPortable Powered Nut Remover and Tightner Tool model to tight nuts of various places in an automobile wheel. In case of tight/remove large layouts in mass production, we can apply this type of tight/remove methods [5].

Problem Statement

To fabricate a portable powered nut remover and tightner using 12V DC output from the car with help of motor.

Literature Overview

Mohd Azman Abdullah.et.al. Have focused on multi nut remover and the design parameters, torque required and time spent on removing and tightening the nuts by different methods or tool like L-shaped wrench, VAWNR and lever, Impact wrench, VAWNR and Impact wrench and suggested the VAWNR and Impact wrench by considering the time it swept to remove and tighten the nuts[1]. Amol Bhanage.et.al. Have focused on the design and modelling of 6 in 1 all nut remover for automobile wheels with 139.7mm PCD using CATIA V5R20 and analysed the efficiency for manufactured all wheel nut remover, testing was performed using the various available nut remover such as , Pneumatic gun and all wheel nut remover tool[2]. Nitesh L.Gomase.et.al. specified that maximum moment of tension for the screw to be screwed requires a determined torque, the driving power of the screw driver must likewise be made high in accordance with the relatively high speed of rotation, although a high torque is required for only a short time during the tightening of the screw, unless some shock action is utilized for the purpose of producing this peak degree[3]. Vaibhav Chowki.et.al. studied on Multinut opener cum tightner for four wheeler with the adjustable PCD. And developed a single tool with multiple mechanisms, which can be made use during assembling and dismantling of wheels in automobiles and used as a standard tool irrespective of the model of the vehicle [4]. Jadhav Sourabh.et.al.worked on reducing the weight of the tool by having the lighter material on the base plate of the design and fabrication of multinut removing tool [5]. Summary of Literature Review: By referring to work done till now on multi nut remover and tightner, below mentioned are the available options are lever operated tool, pneumatic operated tool, multi setting PCD, cordless impact wrench. The above option have some of the demerits are it requires uniform flat surface to place it on ground, it also requires centre alignment with all the nuts, it occupies large boot space, it also requires two totally discharging full batteries in the cordless impact wrench, probable difficulty when operating with the nuts that are tightened with different torque previously, to overcome to all these demerits this project has been done on the fabrication of portable powered nut remover and tightner.

www.ijcrt.org © 2018 IJCRT | Volume 6, Issue 2 April 2018 | ISSN: 2320-2882 OBJECTIVES The main objective of the project is to reduce the human effort used for the wheel nuts removal and tightening processes, to reduce time and energy used to change the tyre, to develop a tool that can be operated by anyone i.e. irrespective of age and gender as it will be easy to use and light in weight, to develop cost effective portable device for nut remover and tightner.

Methodology

The working of the vehicles wheel nuts remover and tightner is simple and can be performed by anyone. It does not require any skills or anything, just basic knowledge about the setup is required for operation. This works under the principle of removing the wheel nuts at the less time by automatic process with the help of a electric motor. It consist of an electric motor, a shaft, box socket, the electric motor is run by 12V DC output. First the machine setup is placed with correct fitting of the box socket to the nut of the vehicle wheel. Then the motor regulator is turned on. The motor drives the shafts which then lead the box socket at the end of the shaft. As the shaft rotates the socket also turns and the nut in the wheels are thus removed or tightened by the rotation of the socket. The tightening and removing process can be changed by changing the rotation of the motor. Thus the wheel nuts can be tightened and removed by this process. It is found to be a simple process and very much convenient for every one for the tyre removal and tightening process. Thus with this simple process we succeeded in making a convenient process in the tyre replacement technique. By this setup the tyre could be easily removed and tightened more efficiently with less wastage of time and energy used.

Components and Description

1. DC Motor

A DC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical machines that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on theforces produced by magnetic fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic; to periodically change the direction of current flow in part of the motor. Different number of stator and armature fields as well as how they are connected provides different inherent speed/torque regulation characteristics. The speed of a DC motor can be controlled by changing the voltage applied to the armature. The introduction of variable resistance in the armature circuit or field circuit allowed speed control. Modern DC motors are often controlled by power electronics systems which adjust the voltage by "chopping" the DC current into on and off cycles which have an effective lower voltage. 2. SPUR GEAR Spur gears or straight-cut gears are the simplest type of gear. A gear having involute teeth either straight or helically cut on a cylindrical surface. Two such gears are used to transmit power between parallel shafts. They consist of a cylinder or diskwith teeth projecting radially. Though the teeth are not straight-sided (but usually of special form to achieve a constant drive ratio, mainly involute but less commonly cycloidal), the edge of each tooth is straight and aligned parallel to the axis of rotation. These gears mesh together correctly only if fitted to parallel shafts. No axial thrust is created by the tooth loads. Spur gears are excellent at moderate speeds but tend to be noisy at high speeds. 3. BEARINGS A bearing is a machine element that constrains relative motion to only the desired motion, and reduces friction between moving parts. The design of the bearingmay, for example, provides for free linear movement of the moving part or for free rotation around a fixed axis; or, it may prevent a motion by controlling the vectors of normal forces that bear on the moving parts. Most bearings facilitate the desired motion by minimizing friction. Bearings are classified broadly according to the type of operation, the motions allowed, or to the directions of the loads (forces) applied to the parts. 4. NUT REMOVER (SPANNER) Wrench or Spanner is a tool used to provide grip and mechanical advantage in applying torque to turn objects usually rotary fasteners, such as nuts and bolts—or keep them from turning. In Commonwealth English (excluding Canada), spanner is the standard term. The most common shapes are called open-ended spanner and ring spanner. The term wrench is generally used for tools that turn non-fastening devices (e.g. tap wrench and ), or may be used for a monkey wrench - an .

5. BASE PLATE A 1018 Mild Steel Alloy is the most commonly available of the cold-rolled steels. It is generally available in round rod, square bar, and rectangle bar. It has a good combination of all of the typical traits of steel - strength, some ductility, and comparative ease

Chemically, it is very similar to A36 Hot Rolled steel, but the cold rolling process creates a better surface finish and better properties. 1018 Mild (low-carbon) steel. These are the main components which hold all the parts of the multiunit remover. Spur gears, bearings are placed in between this two plates. They hold driver pinion which is connected to the motor and responsible for the rotation of the nut removers which are in turn brought into contact with the nuts to be removed. It also housing for the driven gears. These two plates act like a covering to the gears placed inside. The two base plates are separated by some distance.

CONCLUSION

This kit reduces the time consumed in removing the lug nuts. In conventional method, certain torque has to be applied to remove a single lug nut. In this case, the torque applied for removing/tightening of one lug nut is higher than the conventional method. So, this process of replacement of the wheels can be done so faster and it reduces the time. It doesn't cost more as compared to hydraulic and pneumatic devices. It reduce the human effort used for the wheel nuts removing and tightening process. It that can be operated by anyone of different ages from young people to old people as it is easy to use and light in weight. As it is simplicity and compactness easy to carry and store. This device can be used for the any vehicle by changing the box socket of different sizes.
