Different operations such as grinding, lapping, honing, buffing, barrel rolling, polishing, super finishing, and burnishing are required to be performed to achieve the high surface finish. Amongst all, burnishing is a process where the hard roller or a ball tool is engaged to the workpiece to get the better surface finish. In the present study, using Taguchi approach preliminary plan is made for the experimentation then according to it a roller burnishing of the 20MnCr5 workpiece at different input conditions is performed. From the analysis, it is concluded that the hardness of the material is the main contributing factor for burnishing process. The loggingg harvester simulator is an important infrastructure means for modern forestry characteristics of higher education. Through the demonstration and operation of the system , it can play a key role in professional cognitive teaching and mechanical , electronic and hydraulic integrated forestry equipment production internship . It is a multiplier effect for students to quickly master the advanced production methods and improve their practical ability of forestry machinery . The system is based on the actual multifunctional breeding machine control system , and is equipped with simulation visual software compatible with the input and output signals of the control system . With this system software , it can simulate mechanical operation , control system interface debugging, forest logging , Simulated Driving Suit to Control a Virtual harvester hitting branches, making materials, etc. This paper focuses on the dynamic motion simulation platform sawing wood work and vehicles in Unity3D scene 2.3 Data export and processing was simulated and experimental testing, through a single scene Unity3D wood sawing and dynamic simulation of the vehicle can be achieved anywhere, detailing for forestry equipment Key simulation techniques for job simulation and driving scene reproduction. -

Chamfer Plane Christopher Swingley Introduction These plans are for a wooden chamfer plane modelled after the chamfer plane shown in Making Traditional Wooden Planes by John M. Whelan. My plans differ slightly because I used a two piece laminated plane body instead of the single block used by Whelan. My plane iron is a bit wider than his, so my plane body is also slightly larger. Detailed instructions on plane making appear in Whelan’s book and should be consulted as a supplement to these plans. Plans The first set of plans show the body of the plane. Two pegs through the body will strengthen the connection between the halves of the body. However, there are increasing concerns that ongoing selective logging practices have led to decreased forest product supply, increased forest degradation, and contributed to forest based carbon emissions. Taking cases of natural forest harvesting practices from the Tarai region of Nepal and Queensland Australia, this study assesses forest product recovery and associated carbon emissions along the timber production chain. Field measurements and product flow analysis of 127 commercially harvested trees up to the exit gate of sawmills and interaction with sawmill owners and forest managers reveal that: (1) Queensland selective logging has less volume recovery (52.8%) compared to Nepal (94.5%) leaving significant utilizable volume in the forest, (2) Stump volume represents 5.5% of total timber volume in Nepal and 3.9% in Queensland with an average stump height of 43.3 cm and 40.1 cm in Nepal and Queensland respectively, (3) Average sawn timber output from the harvested logs is 36.3% in Queensland against 3 3 61% in Nepal, (4) Nepal and Queensland leave 0.186 Mg C m− and 0.718 Mg C m− on the forest floor respectively, (5) Each harvested tree damages an average of five plant species in Nepal and four in Queensland predominantly seedlings in both sites, and (6) Overall logging related total emissions in 3 3 Queensland are more than double (1.099 Mg C m− ) those in Nepal (0.488 Mg C m− ). -

The Art of Stone Masonry In the Rockbridge County Area (1700 to present) Steven Connett Archaeology 377 5/25/83 Dr. McDaniel The art of stone masonry in the Shenandoah valley seems to be somewhat of a mystery prior to the nineteenth century. However, as some of us have learned from the anthropology 101 course: The absence of artifacts (documents in this case) is just as important as the presence of artifacts. In order to make sure that the lack of information was not due to my possible incompetence in research, I spoke with a current day stone masoner named Alvis Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds relayed t o me that when he was trying to learn the skills of stone masonry he, too, had great difficulty in obtaining information and thus decided to teach himself this art through the process of trial and error. Although this information did not directly aid me in my research, Mr. Reynolds did provide me with a bit of information that allowed me to derive a hypothesis on why there is this unusual lack of information in this line of study. I will state my hypothesis in this paper, however, I will not be able to prove it or disprove it due to the deficiency in available information. Mr. Reynolds explained to me that in the eighteenth century there were nomadic stone masoners. These nomadic workers went from valley to valley in search of people who needed help with building their houses. Since these people did not know how to cut stone themselves (after all, stone cutting is not the type of thing that is innate to most people) they had no choice but to p~y these men for their services or go unsheltered.
