AROUND OLD TBILISI (WALKING TOUR) Our tour will start at Rike park. Firstly, we’ll enjoy the fantas8c panorama of the Old City on the opposite bank of the river, and walk a bit around the park. From the park we’ll take the cable car up to the Narikala Fortress - the main citadel of Tbilisi for many centuries. Then we will go down along the narrow, cute streets, with lovely green yards, and unique Tbilisi buildings, framed with grapevines and circled with a lacy balconies. Further we’ll pass by the mosque- the only one in Tbilisi. The beauful walls of the mosque are staying on the bank of the small river, which runs sparkling and bubbling from the top of the hills straight to the Kura river. The river takes its way through the picturesque gorge. We will go up, along the gorge, and this path will bring us to the lovely waterfall, which is situated straight in the middle of the city. The following stop in our walking tour - Abanotubani (literally "the baths area"). It is well known spacious sulfur baths resort. In previous centuries this was not just a SPA center, but a place where friends and rela8ves met, spent couple of relaxing hours, and enjoyed the company of each other. Along the road we will see lovely and cozy open cafes and small restaurants, which are famous for the Caucasian hospitality, incredibly tasty kitchen and wines. We will go across the well-known "Bridge of Peace", which spanned the Mtkhvari (Kura) River. It is remarkable for the futuris8c design. Aerwards we’ll visit famous Sioni Cathedral (built in 17th century). Earlier it served as the main Cathedral and at the same me was the residence of the Patriarch of Georgia, unl the construc8on of Holy Trinity Church was finished in 2004. We will see the oldest of the remained temples in Tbilisi — Anchiskha8 (6th century BC). It is a spiritual heart of the en=re country First stop – we’ll explore ancient and unique Jvari Monastery. It is considered to be the first monastery in Georgia. According to the historians it was built in V-VI century. Exactly here St. Nino set up the cross from a grapevine and began to preach Chris=anity. The monastery stands on the top of the hill. The slope of this hill goes down, straight to the place where two rivers, Kura and Aragvi, meet, to prolong they way together. The place is famous not only for its cultural and historical roots, but also for the spectacular, unforgeNable view on the surrounding mountains and valleys. Visit monastery Sve=tskhoveli, where the central cathedral of Georgia is situated. It was erected in the 10th century and it is s=ll the seQng for important ceremonies of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The kings of Georgia where crowned and buried in the Cathedral in the past. Unique frescos and can be seen on the walls of this monastery. We will explore the lovely and cozy pedestrian streets of Mtskheta. The center of the city was renovated and restored not so long ago, and now looks charming and aNrac=ve. Here we can find lots of small cafes, cute and unique stores. On the main street there is a small street market where one can see or even try different local products, such as churchkhela, honey or house wine. We are returning back to Tbilisi to take part in the CITY TOUR Holy Trinity Cathedral ‘Sameba’, which is the main Chris=an Orthodox cathedral in Georgia. Con=nue onwards to see the Metekhi Church of Assump=on which rests upon the top of the hill. The church was built by the Georgian king St Demetrius II between 1278-1284. Svetitskhoveli, known as the burial site of Christ's mantle, has long been the principal Georgian church and remains one of the most venerated places of worship to this day. The church counts UNESCO world heritage sites. Chateau Mukhrani, one of the must-visit venues to get a fascinating insight into the traditions and secrets of Georgian wine-making, blended with remarkable stories about the Georgian royal family. In 1873, designed by French architects, Ivane Mukhranbatoni began construction of the castle that took 12 years to complete. The surrounding gardens were designed by a Versailles gardener. Both castle and grounds captured visitors’ attentions. The huge venue was a cultural centre for the Georgian elite. Chateau Mukhrani is the first Georgian Chateau.
