NEW YORK ACADEMY OF ART CONTINUING STUDIES Painting & Printmaking workshop in ,

The New York Academy of Art will offer a special two-week painting and printmaking workshop this summer in the Italian countryside, from July 11 – 25. Open to all skill levels, the workshop will focus on landscape painting for the frst week, under the instruction of the renowned painter Robert Armetta. Students will learn perspective, light and shadow, color relationships, and key techniques for capturing nature. The second week will be devoted to printmaking with Master Printer John Volk, who will guide students in exploring the Italian landscape in relief and monotype techniques, developing the student's understanding of the craft of printmaking.

Participants will stay at La Romita, a beautifully restored 16th century monastery overlooking the city of Terni, with exceptional accommodation and meals. La Romita is located about an hour outside , and the artistic instruction is supplemented by a full itinerary of presentations on various topics of art history and technique and guided excursions to local villages and areas of historic importance. All-inclusive $4,495 per person Itinerary Group members begin each day with a continental breakfast and then board a bus to explore one of the many villages, sights or cultural centers of the Umbria region of Italy. They then return to La Romita for a delicious lunch highlighting local cuisine. Afternoons are spent plein air painting, drawing or working in the studio. After a relaxing dinner, group members may choose to enjoy the Italian culture by attending concerts in historic churches or castles or to continue working in the studio. This is an amazing opportunity to be immersed in Italian Renaissance art, explore a variety of stunning landscapes and hill towns, and have access to a large, comfortable studio to focus on individual work at the same time.
