Dear Minister,

Re: Proposed School Cuts I write to you to seek your intervention to stop the planned cuts to administration staff in 65 Schools and Colleges across Tasmania.

For over five years CPSU School Administration members have been attempting to work with the Department of Education to resolve chronic understaffing of School Administration through the development of an updated School Administration Staffing Formula.

Despite the new staffing formula being developed to resolve under resourcing, the Department of Education is now proposing that the following schools will have their administrative staffing cut.

Proposed Cuts to Administrative Staffing: FTE FTE School Reduction School Reduction Latrobe Primary School -0.05 New Norfolk Primary School -0.12 Reece High School -0.15 East Devonport Primary School -0.15 Ridgley Primary School -0.15 Kempton Primary School -0.48 Don College -0.2 Campbell Street Primary School -0.05 Sprent Primary School -0.05 Cygnet Primary School -0.05 Spreyton Primary School -0.05 Fairview Primary School -0.05 Andrews Creek Primary School -0.35 JRLF - Gagebrook Primary School -0.34

Teachers and Specialist Teacher Assistants to lift the education attainment of Tasmanian children.

Every one of the above initiatives relies on a team of School Administration Officers and a School Business Manager to implement efficiently.

Many of the 65 schools earmarked for cuts are based in regional and remote communities that provide services important to that local community. A cut to these schools will impact their local community, students and will see dedicated staff have their income cut. We are writing to seek your guarantee that no school will have a cut to its administrative staffing and that additional funding will be allocated to ensure the updated staffing formula can be implemented without these cuts.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter and we ask that you provide a response by Monday, 12 April 2021 so that we can share your position on this important issue ahead of the election.
