Barrientos is best known for his albums Sin Reservas, Es Hora De Adorarle, Transformados and Ilumina. A story he graduated from Christ for the Bible Institute of Nations in 1985. He is a leader of worship and an international speaker. Since its graduation, he has been in a full-time ministry, starting with associate pastor Amistad Christian in Mexico City. He stayed there for 13 years and then founded the ministry of Amistad Cristiana Internacional and the music label Aliento Producciones, in which he is president. Barrientos has 30 records of praise and worship, and is the author of various books such as El Plan de Dios para ti (God's Plan for You) and Mustram Tu Gloria (Show Me Your Glory). He travels extensively, hosting the Aliento del Cielo conference around the world, and more recently in ELAM, Escuela de Laderes and Artes del Ministerio (School of Leadership and Arts Ministry). The pastors were the political leader of the local party Livable Rotterdam (Leefbaar Rotterdam), a member of the city council, and an alderman of the municipality of Rotterdam. He was also the political leader of One NL (Een NL), a Dutch political party nationally. Early Life In his political pamphlet At Your Service, which was published in 2006, he described his Catholic and rural upbringing as unremarkable, with his parents' problematic marriage as a recurring theme. Pastors were critical of the proliferation of mosques, the erection of minarets and opposed the practice of new Muslim immigrants, such as honour killings, polygamy, forced marriage and the suppression of women. He was regularly challenged for denigrating statements by the Muslim minority and left-wing politicians, which he perceived as politically correct. The denigrating remarks on immigration and the political party Groen Links in early 2005 led to pastors clashing with the city council, and he was forced to refrain even more from public commenting on immigration and integration. In October 2005, he again clashed with the city council when he commented in a Catholic newspaper that Muslims had abused their religion, justifying some of their actions. As a result, on 8 November 2005, the City Council ousted him from the election as an alderman. In the 2006 municipal elections in Rotterdam, Lifbaar Rotterdam won about a third of the vote, but lost 3 of the 17 seats, so the pastoral-led party moved to the opposition benches. National Politics In 2006 Pastors founded a new political party called E'n NL along with Joost Eerdmans formerly a member of Lijst Pim Fortuyn, who participated in the Dutch general elections of 2006. Her campaign's main issues were reforms in social security, education and minority integration. The party advocated for law and order, against bureaucracy. According to the new party, new immigrants must understand that Western culture is the dominant culture. Many of his constituents considered pastors the real heir Pima Fortuyn. In a widely circulated statement that sparked debate, pastors said that radical Islam is appeased just as Nazism was in Germany in the 1930s. There are great similarities. There are signs that events in Germany are going the wrong way; that Germany is preparing for war; A what makes jews a scapegoat. Pastors criticized customs such as arranged marriages, lack of tolerance for homosexuality and lack of freedom to renounce the Islamic faith. No one took action against what Germany is doing. What we are doing is not taking action against Muslims in the neighborhoods where they live. Populist parties have increased their support significantly since the early 2000s. They have enjoyed real success, thanks in particular to Pim Fortuyn, whose pro- vocative style boosted their popularity before his assassination in May 2002. The radical and populist right is now embodied by Geert Wilders’s Party for Freedom (PVV). Founded in 2006, the PVV’s orientation is more nationalistic and less liberal than that of the Pim Fortuyn List; it is vehement in its opposition to Islam and immigration. The Netherlands also has many smaller political movements, including agrarian, natio- nalist and far-right parties. All these parties have relays in the media, both in the press and on the internet, and their ideas are formalised and disseminated by a variety of think tanks and journals. Despite this fragmentation, the Dutch right presents a united ideological front on many issues: with the exception of the Christian democrats, it is generally Eurosceptic and favours strengthening the nation, at a time when the country’s openness to the world is perceived as a threat rather than an opportunity.

Vossen Het is nogal een understatement om te stellen dat Geert Wilders de gemoederen in Nederland de laatste jaren nogal bezighoudt. ‘De man is uitgegroeid tot een nationale obsessie’, zo stelde columnist Bas Heijne in de zomer van 2009 vast, nadat hij na een korte vakantie de Nederlandse kranten doornam. ‘Geert Wilders die nu eens een paar zetels in de peilingen zakt en de volgende week weer een paar zetels stijgt, Geert Wilders die de ene week op Hitler lijkt en dan weer ineens juist helemaal niet, Geert Wilders die zijn islamhaat via zijn Indische voorouders in zijn bloed gekregen zou hebben en een dag later juist via drie maanden sinaasappels plukken in Israël’, aldus Heijne´s samenvatting van de berichtgeving.1 Wie de naam ´Geert Wilders´ invoert in een krantendatabase als Lexis Nexis, ziet het gelijk van Heijne bevestigd: men wordt werkelijk overspoeld door artikelen over Wilders en zijn Partij voor de Vrijheid (PVV).
