Een van de processen die globalisering met zich mee heeft gebracht is het zogenaamde ‗kleiner worden van de wereld‘; door onder andere technologische ontwikkelingen kunnen mensen steeds gemakkelijker in een ander land kunnen wonen dan waar ze geboren zijn. En bovendien kan het na verloop van tijd gebeuren dat zij of hun nakomelingen plaatsnemen in de regering of lokale bestuursorganen van het betreffende land. Dit roept echter identiteitsvraagstukken op voor zowel deze ‗nieuwkomers‘, als voor de mensen die al langer in het betreffende land woonden. Stine Jensen en Rob Wijnberg zijn twee filosofen die in hun boek Dus ik ben op zoek gaan naar de identiteit van de hedendaagse mens. Zij merken op dat sommige mensen het kleiner worden van de wereld ervaren als een positief proces, waarbij zij gemakkelijker iets kunnen betekenen in de wereld. Voor andere mensen is het echter iets negatiefs.

    13 december 2017 Onderzoek: Roemer stapt op ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Over het EenVandaag Opiniepanel Het EenVandaag Opiniepanel bestaat uit ruim 50.000 mensen. Zij beantwoorden vragenlijsten op basis van een online onderzoek. De uitslag van de peilingen onder het EenVandaag Opiniepanel zijn na weging representatief voor zes variabelen, namelijk leeftijd, geslacht, opleiding, burgerlijke staat, spreiding over het land en politieke voorkeur gemeten naar de laatste Tweede Kamerverkiezingen. Panelleden krijgen ongeveer één keer per week een uitnodiging om aan een peiling mee te doen. Op de meeste onderzoeken respondeert 50 tot 60 procent van de panelleden. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Roemer stapt op 13 december 2017 Over het onderzoek Aan het onderzoek deden 18.109 leden van het EenVandaag Opiniepanel mee, waarvan 1102 SP-stemmers die bij de landelijke verkiezingen in maart op de partij gestemd hebben. Het onderzoek vond plaats op 13 december 2017. Na weging is het onderzoek representatief voor zes variabelen, namelijk leeftijd, geslacht, opleiding, burgerlijke staat, spreiding over het land en politieke voorkeur gemeten naar de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen van 2017. 2 1. Samenvatting SP-kiezers gematigd positief over Marijnissen Lilian Marijnissen wordt door SP-kiezers gematigd positief ontvangen als nieuwe partijleider: 64 procent heeft vertrouwen in haar. Dat blijkt uit een gewogen peiling van EenVandaag onder 1100 kiezers die in maart op de SP stemden. Een kwart (26%) heeft weinig tot geen vertrouwen. Kiezers van de PvdA en GroenLinks lopen op dit moment nog niet warm voor haar, datzelfde geldt voor kiezers van de PVV. Driekwart (74%) van de ondervraagde SP-kiezers vindt dat Emile Roemer het goed gedaan heeft. Toch stelt bijna de helft (45%) dat het een goede zaak is dat hij nu opstapt.

Wim Kuiper bestuursvoorzitter Besturenraad Woord vooraf Het jaar 2009 was een belangrijk jaar voor de Besturenraad. Een jaar waarin de vereniging belangrijke keuzes maakte. De centrale vraag die beantwoord werd, was de vraag hoe we de Besturenraad klaar voor de toekomst moesten maken. Een toekomst, waarin we als christelijk onderwijs een belangrijke en relevante rol kunnen spelen in de maatschappij. Om dat te realiseren, hebben we verder gebouwd aan een krachtige vereni- ging met een duidelijke toegevoegde waarde voor de leden en een herkenbaar eigen geluid. In dit jaarverslag schetsen wij u hoe de Besturenraad in 2009 heeft geïnvesteerd in het toekomstbestendig maken van vereniging en bureau. We staan stil bij het fundament van onze vereniging, de totstandkoming van de herpositionering, de investering in de ledenorgani- satie en de belangrijke stappen die zijn gezet om te komen tot de nieuwe bestuurlijke inrichting van de vereniging. Dat hebben we gedaan terwijl we zijn door- gegaan met werken aan het stem geven aan het christe- lijk onderwijs, ondersteund door een professioneel bureau met de grote inzet van betrokken professionals. Ook gaan we in op de wijze waarop we werk hebben gemaakt van onze belangenbehartiging, van de contacten met onze leden en van de betaalde dienstver- lening. Het zijn die vele activiteiten die in samenhang er voor zorgden dat de Besturenraad in 2009 met succes verbouwde, terwijl de winkel open was.

Jansz Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC) Voorwoord Voor u ligt de afsluiting van vijf mooie studiejaren. De eerste vier jaar bracht ik door in Tilburg op de universiteit en in het studentenleven. Die tijd is onvergetelijk geweest en heeft me veel vrienden, kennis en ervaring opgeleverd. Het afgelopen jaar stond volledig in het teken van mijn studie. De master Media & Journalistiek in Rotterdam bood me de kans mijn wereld iets te verbreden. Hoewel ik het reizen naar Rotterdam in combinatie met de pittige vakken af en toe zwaar vond, besef ik nu waar ik het allemaal voor deed. Een masterdiploma. Deze scriptie over betekenisgeving aan mediateksten door burgers heeft me ook wat tegenslagen bezorgd. Het regelen van de focusgroepen was een helse klus. Verscheidene keren is een groep uitgesteld en zelfs één keer afgezegd. De grootste tegenslag bleek het beschadigde Word-document, waardoor ik een week terug in de tijd geworpen werd. Ook gebeurde er tijdens het schrijven een aantal zaken die nauwelijks nog te verwerken waren, zoals de aanslagen in Noorwegen en het proces tegen Wilders en zijn uiteindelijke vrijspraak. Dat betekent wel dat het onderwerp actueel is, maar ik kon het niet meer gebruiken in mijn onderzoek. Uiteraard gaat het maken van een scriptie je niet in de koude kleren zitten en ik wil veel mensen bedanken die me door deze tijd gesleept hebben.

    Who revived the basic income debate? Investigating the role of social media in the political agenda-setting process Naam: Erwin Gielens ANR: 853440 Collegejaar: 2017-2018 Research master social and behavioral sciences Sociology track Begeleider: dr. F. Roosma 1 Abstract This study addresses the lack of scholarly attention for the role of social media in the political agenda- setting process. It is expected that social media help draw attention of politicians by making some issues more visible and increasing their urgency. Taking the basic income debate on Twitter as a case study, I find that high public attention coincides with high political attention, although debate integration and leadership do not meaningfully predict these spikes in attention. The content of conversations reveals that politicians engage in discussion because Twitter cues the public relevance of particular issue, facilitates the diffusion of information and lowers barriers to participation in public debate. Politicians that support the issue are more likely to respond to public attention, while opposing politicians tend to refrain from engagement until impending political consequences make the issue urgent. The overall implication is that social media can modulate the impact of traditional media coverage on political agendas.     Bias in television interviews towards politicians Master thesis Communication Science Student: Faranak Babai (10437983) Supervised by: Marjolein Moorman Graduate School of Communication University of Amsterdam June 2015 Abstract Television can be biased in many different ways; in this research two ways of possible bias are measured. The first is the bias in the representation of politicians on television. The second is the bias of the journalists in their approach towards politicians in interviews, on television. This study investigates the first type for the following characteristics: age, gender, experience, and political party and the second type for the following characteristics: Left/right winged party, coalition/oppositional party and gender. Bias is measured using six elements being: initiative, directness, assertiveness, accountability, opposition and persistence of the journalist, a research tool that is developed by Claymen, Elliott, Heritage and Mcdonald (2007) and improved by Huls and Varwijk (2011). Bias is measured in the political oriented program Pauw, a late night show about topicality with, among other guests, politicians, journalists and lawyers. The result of the study show that indeed bias is found. The first bias measured that males were more represented than females and among political parties, the PvdA was more represented than all the other parties. The second bias measures, left winged politicians, oppositional party politicians and males were approached more biased than right winged politicians, coalition party politicians and females. In the discussion these results were put in context with other bias studies and implications for future research are discussed. 2 Introduction The political arena is inseparably bound to television.
