THE VADODARA SESSION OF THE AITUC It was again emphasised at the 33rd Session of the AIT.U.C. that there is urgency and necessity df reorientation of the working class movement so as to enable it both ideologically and organisationally, to effectively intervene in national affairs. The new economic and industrial policies of the Rajiv Gandhi Government providing virtually an open door to mono polies and multinationals, the weakening of the Public Sector and self-reliance, the growing menace of communal and divisive forces, increasing interference of imperialist forces of destabilisation across our borders, all these underline the requirements of the present day situation and the increasing role that the organised trade union movement is called upon to play The Conference, therefore, reiterated the necessity and possi bility of unity of left-led Trade Unions, particularly of the AITUC and CITU on the basis of four common fundamental premises viz, class struggle, anti-imperialism, secularism and international solidarity. -
