Picnic Areas City of Swan Picnic Areas Picnic Areas The City of Swan has many attractions including: Areas of historic importance The Avon/Helena/Swan River system Natural bush settings Parks and reserves with excellent facilities This brochure describes some of the selected spots within the City for picnics, day trips and information on park weddings. For more information regarding planning your park wedding please contact Leisure Services on 9267 9321. The City also has smaller local parks in almost every suburb, most with playgrounds and other facilities. You can find a selection of these smaller parks in this brochure listed under their ward. Supplementing the information in the brochure is the “Natural Beauty of Swan” brochure outlining the environmental heritage of the Swan Region. Important note on Barbecues Electric barbecues are free to use and can be used any time throughout the year. The use of wood-fired barbecues is subject to prevailing fire conditions during the prohibited burning season, from December to March. Please check with the City’s Community Rangers on 9267 9326 for the most up to date fire weather conditions information before using these barbecues. Please note that firewood is not provided for wood fired-barbecues. Altone Altone Park Benara Road, Beechboro A unique lakeside setting in Perth’s eastern suburbs and a short three kilometres to the Swan Valley SKATE vineyards. The many facilities of Altone Park Leisure Centre are located nearby. Located on the north side of Barkers Bridge heading out from Guildford on West Swan Road, gateway to the lovely Swan Valley. Includes a range of community facilities including an amphitheatre, tennis courts and a community centre. A very popular wedding location. St Matthew’s Church and other cultural attractions provide links to Guildford’s pioneering past. Hazelmere Anthea Street Park, Anthea Street Hazelmere Park, Corner West Parade and Bushmead Road Guildford Fishmarket Reserve Swan Street, Guildford A lovely riverside spot to have a barbecue or just take in the tranquil surrounds. South Guildford Kulungar Park, Armitage Close Queens Road Arboretum, Queens Road Riverview Avenue Playground, Riverview Avenue Waterhall Park, Waterhall Road Midland Middle Swan Reserve Middle Swan Road, Middle Swan One of the most popular parks in the City. A handy riverside location with most amenities for your day out. Bellevue Helen Street Playground and Reserve, Helen Street Viveash Viveash Foreshore, Elvire Street Midland Reg Bond Reserve Bernley Drive, Viveash This reserve, tucked away on a bend in the Swan River, is perfect for a secluded day out with the family. Links with Woodbridge Riverside Park via the John George walk trail. Midland Harper Park, Corner Harper Street and Great Eastern Highway Holmesdale Park, Holmesdale Road Midland Woodbridge Riverside Park First Avenue, Woodbridge The riverside area has been a favourite spot with locals for many years and is now complemented with playground equipment and picnic facilities. Links with Reg Bond Reserve via the John George walk trail. Rural Bells Rapids Cathedral Avenue, Brigadoon White water rapids make this an exciting viewing spot during the Avon OBSERVE OBSERVE Decent. Facilities are limited, although adequate for most picnic users. Flora and Fauna Highlights: Dominant trees – Marri, Jarrah, Bull Banksia Wildflower – Candlestick Banksia Bird – Splendid Fairy Wren OBSERVE CONSERVE Rural FRF Berry Reserve ReenRe Road, Gidgegannup This natural bush reserve is the perfect distance for a day trip from Perth. It has become more popular in recent years due to its unspoilt bushland values.
