NGS 2019 Family History Conference | Journey of Discovery | 8–11 May 2019, St. Charles, MO 1 PRESIDENT’S WELCOME NGS Members, Conference Attendees, Speakers, Sponsors, and Exhibitors: On behalf of the National Genealogical Society Board of Directors, our staff, and our local host, the St. Louis Genealogical Society (StLGS), I am pleased to welcome you to St. Charles and the NGS 2019 Family History Conference, Journey of Discovery. Our conference committee has created a powerful program of more than 150 lectures. During the next four days, our presenters will help you advance your research by offering techniques and resources to discover your roots and build your family tree. The conference is designed for family history researchers at all levels−beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Tracks of lecture topics will sharpen your skills in diverse areas including Technology, DNA, Methodology, Records, Ethnic, Military Research, and much more. Geographical focus will center on Missouri and neighbor- ing states, along with migration into and out of the region. Topics range from local, state, regional, and general genealogy to broader topics on genetic genealogy. We are pleased that on the Tuesday prior to the conference, the BCG Education Fund will host its workshop, Putting Skills to Work; ProQuest will host a Librarians’ Day; and StLGS will offer several tours in the area plus an all-day Irish seminar and African American seminar. Tuesday afternoon, representatives from county genealogical and historical societies throughout Missouri and nearby states will welcome you to a free Society Showcase event in the Grand Ballroom Foyer, St. Charles Convention Center. On Wednesday evening, StLGS will host a social event in the Junior Ballroom, St. Charles Convention Center. We thank our sponsors for their generous support. At the Platinum level, this includes FamilySearch and Ancestry. MyHeritage is a Diamond Sponsor and at the Silver level are Boston University Online Genealogical Programs, ProQuest, and American Ancestors by NEHGS. We also extend our thanks to the genealogical societies that sponsor luncheons and lectures and our exhibitors and speakers. Without the support of so many, including our terrific volunteers, our program would not be possible. Thank you for attending the conference and supporting the National Genealogical Society. We hope that you enjoy your time with us in St. Charles as you see old friends, meet new colleagues, and have fun. And most important, may what you learn at this conference help you build a solid foundation for your family history, fine-tune your research skills, and refine your methodology.
