IGN is reporting a bug when attempting to download specific games or apps on the PlayStation 5. The only fix is a factory reset of your PS5. Another day, another bug with the PlayStation 5. This time, the report comes not from a random internet source but instead from IGN themselves. According to the outlet, multiple IGN staff members have encountered a bug that “causes games and apps to be caught in a ‘Queued for Download’ or error state.” The bug appears to pop up when a game or app is readying to download. IGN explains: The bug can then seemingly take two forms, either listing the game/app as Queued for Download, or as having suffered a download error. Both will prompt you to check the Downloads menu, which then shows nothing. The game or app is then stuck in a limbo state, unable to download or be canceled and redownloaded. Your PS5 library will show that you own the game or app, but the PS5 Store will ask that you purchase it. It gets worse though. The only current fix for the bug should you get it is a factory reset of the console itself. It’s unclear what exactly is causing the bug to appear. A number of users online claims it happened with the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. However, IGN said two of its staff members encountered the bug with other games. So far, Godfall , Demon’s Souls , Spider- Man: Remastered and Sackboy: A Big Adventure , along with the Disney+ app, have all been linked with the bug. And it appears to only be affecting the PS5 versions of them. Activision is currently recommending a factory reset and while that solved the problem for an IGN staff member, it’s obviously less than ideal for the mass majority of people. The idea of wiping your entire console and having to redownload all your games — especially with the size of them — sounds like an obnoxious workaround. But unfortunately, it’s all that seems to work right . While no one at App Trigger has encountered this bug, we have had a report of another issue with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. While we own the PS4 version of the game, we are unable to download the PS5 version. There’s no prompt to upgrade to the PS5 version and when we go to the PlayStation Store it prompts us to buy the PS5 version of the game, even though we already own it. This download queue bug isn’t the first issue to pop up for the PlayStation 5 since launch. On launch day, there were numerous reports of the PS5 breaking with users posting how their database was corrupted. However, these seemed to be isolated incidents, which isn’t uncommon with new tech. This IGN issue seems a little more widespread so we’ll continue to keep an eye on it. PlayStation 5 Users Face 'Queued for Download' Bug Preventing Them From Downloading Games, Apps: Report. PlayStation 5 game library shows that you already own the game/ app, but the PS5 Store shows that you need to purchase it. PlayStation 5 was launched on November 12 in select regions. PlayStation 5 users face their first bug soon after launch PS5 players are unable to download certain games and apps has not shared a fix for the issue yet. PlayStation 5 users are experiencing a bug that prevents them from downloading certain games and apps. This bug is causing games and apps to get stuck at ‘Queued for Download' or in an error state, as per a report. This seems to be happening when a product is first set to download. What's even more frustrating than being unable to download a game is that the PS5 library shows that you own the game, but the PS5 Store says that you don't. According to a report by IGN citing users and its own staff members, PlayStation 5 has been hit by its first bug right after launch. Users have reported that their games and apps are stuck at ‘Queued for Download' or show a download error. This happens when an item is first set to download and, in this case, the Downloads menu doesn't list anything. This prevents users from downloading the game or cancelling the game to try and re-download. The PS5 game library does show that you already own the game/ app, but the PS5 Store shows that you need to purchase it. IGN mentions that a lot of user reports claim issues with the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, though the PS4 version of the game downloads without any issues. Other users have reported issues with Godfall, Demon's Souls, Spider-Man Remastered, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and the Disney+ app. Reportedly, users who got in touch with Activision regarding the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War issue were asked to factory reset their console and that fixed the issue. But it would not be possible for all users to completely erase their PS5's storage to be able to download these games. There seems to be no other fix in sight. Most of the problems associated with streaming video with your Amazon Prime membership are the result of poor internet connectivity, problems with your streaming device, or problems with the Prime Video app. Since most failures can be grouped into just a few categories, you can fix a lot of Amazon error codes with these troubleshooting tips. Restart your streaming device. Restart your home network devices. Improve your wireless connection, if possible. Switch from a wireless to a wired network connection. Update your Prime Video app. Clear your Prime Video app cache, or reinstall the app if necessary. Make sure your streaming device is fully updated by Amazon. Update your streaming device if necessary. Most Amazon Prime Video problems can be fixed by going through those basic troubleshooting steps, but an error code can help you focus on the actual source of the problem more quickly. If the Amazon web player or the Prime Video app provided you with an error code when you experienced your playback error, check below for more specific instructions. How to Fix Most Prime Video Streaming Problems. Most streaming problems with Amazon Prime Video are related to internet or network connectivity. To stream from Amazon, your device needs to be able to sustain a 3.0 Mbps for standard definition content, a 5.0 Mbps connection for high definition content, and 25 Mbps for 4K streaming. If your device doesn't have a solid internet connection, or your internet connection is too slow, you will experience trouble streaming from Amazon. You may see one or more of the following error codes: 1007, 1022, 1060 7003, 7005, 7031, 7135, 7202, 7203, 7204, 7206, 7207, 7230, 7235, 7250, 7251, 7301, 7303, 7305, 7306 8020, 9003 9074. To fix Amazon Prime Video streaming problems: Verify your internet connection speed on the device that provided the error code, if possible. If your streaming device isn't connected to the internet, or it has a slow connection, try moving the device or your wireless networking equipment to establish a better connection. If you have a large house, your router may not be powerful enough to reach every room with a signal strong enough to stream video. If possible, remove sources of wireless interference and switch your Wi-Fi network to a channel that isn't congested. If other devices are using a lot of bandwidth on your network, temporarily disable them. Try switching to a wired Ethernet connection. Power cycle your network hardware and your streaming device. Since most streaming issues are caused by connectivity problems, the idea is to rule out all of your hardware and software. If everything checks out on your end, then you can contact your internet service provider (ISP) and Amazon to let them know about the problem. In most cases, you'll have to wait for one or the other to fix an underlying issue before Prime Video starts working again. How to Fix Amazon Error Code 1060. Amazon error code 1060 is a connectivity error that indicates your streaming device doesn't have a good connection to the internet, isn't connected to the internet, or that the Prime Video servers are down. This code appears when the Amazon web player or the Prime Video app isn't able to load a video, and it provides a message like this: Ensure your device is connected to the Internet and then select Retry. If the connection works, but you are still seeing this message, restart the app or contact Amazon customer service. Error code: 1060. To fix Amazon Error Code 1060, you need to make sure you're connected to the internet and have enough bandwidth. Verify that your device has an internet connection and to make sure that you have enough bandwidth to stream from Amazon Prime Video. If you still see Amazon error code 1060 after shutting down your devices and restarting them, and you've verified that you have a solid internet connection and enough bandwidth, there may be an issue with Amazon's servers. How to Fix Amazon Error Code 7031. Amazon error code 7031 indicates a server error. When this error occurs, you'll usually see a message like this: Video Unavailable We're experiencing a problem playing this video. This error is commonly seen when streaming from the Amazon website using the Prime Video web player, but it can also occur on streaming devices. When this error code appears, you may find that you are able to stream some shows and movies while others fail to play. Check to make sure there isn't a problem with Amazon Web Services. Since Amazon error code 7031 is a server error, it's often caused by problems with Amazon's servers. Check social media like Twitter, and service monitors like Down Detector. Update your web browser or streaming app. Turn off the Do Not Track setting in your web browser. If you have this setting enabled, you won't be able to stream Prime Video using your web browser. Either disable the setting, or try streaming with the Prime Video app on a different device. Enable two-step verification. If you're trying to stream Amazon Prime Video through a third party service, you need to enable two-step verification on your Amazon account. Try a virtual private network (VPN). If you're trying to stream content that isn't available in your location, you may see error code 7031. Either stream content that is available, or use a VPN to access the content you're interested in. Since Amazon error code 7031 is a server error, it's important to verify that the servers are actually up before you do anything else. If you don't see any evidence that the servers are down, then you need to move on to checking your own internet connection and updating your software. If you still experience this error after everything, you'll need to contact either Amazon or your ISP for more assistance. How to Fix Amazon Prime Video Download Problems. Amazon Prime Video allows you to download content to your phone or tablet using the Prime Video app. Once you've downloaded content in this way, you can watch it even if you don't have an internet connection. If you find that you have a problem downloading and viewing Amazon Prime Video content, there are a few things you can do to fix the issue. When this type of problem occurs, you'll usually see a message like this: We've encountered a problem with this video. Please try again. If this problem continues, please contact Amazon Customer Service. You don't have any downloaded movies. To fix this problem: Verify that your Amazon Prime membership is active. This feature is only available if your membership is currently active. If you are a member through someone else, make sure they didn't remove you. Check your location. The Prime Video download feature only works if you are in your home region, and if your region supports the feature. If you are from the United States and travel out of the country, you won't be able to watch downloaded Prime Video content. Disable your VPN. Do you have a VPN on your device, or is there a VPN set up on your router? If Amazon thinks you're in a different country due to a VPN, you won't be able to watch downloaded content. Restart your streaming device. In some cases, restarting Roku, or Chromecast will fix whatever glitch might be causing problems. You can even turn your Apple TV off and then back on to see if a power cycle will help it. Clear your Prime Video app cache, or reinstall the app altogether. If there is corrupt data in the app cache or a problem with the app, then clearing the cache or reinstalling the app will fix your problem. How to Check If Amazon Prime Video Is Down. If it seems like everything is okay on your end, then you may want to use a service monitor like Down Detector to check for problems. These service monitors constantly check to see if services like Amazon Prime Video are functional, and they make it easy to see if there is a widespread problem. While this won't help you fix your Amazon error code, it will show whether or not the problem is actually on Amazon's end. Here's how to use Down Detector to see if other people hare having trouble with Amazon Prime Video: Click on the search box and type Amazon Prime Video , then press Enter on your keyboard. Don't just type Amazon or Amazon.com, because we care about the Amazon Prime Video service here, not just the main website. Look at the Amazon Prime Video problems timeline and make note of any recent reports. Scroll down and click the Live Outages Map button. Check for any outage hotspots in your area. If you see an active outage in your area, you will have to wait for Amazon to fix the problem. The most common PS5 problems, and how to fix them. The PlayStation 5 is finally here and has been receiving rave reviews from gamers so far. The latest Sony console has exceeded expectations we had for the next-generation system so far, and exclusive titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls have kept gamers glued to their controllers since launch. That being said, there have been a handful of issues with the console that owners have been pointing out online. There are a few minor (and fixable) issues that have commonly arisen since its release. In this guide, we’ll go through the most common problems players have been experiencing and walk you through fixing them. Make sure you’ve installed the latest console software updates before diving in. Further reading. Issue with the download queue. As games move to a digital marketplace, players will be downloading massive files in order to play unbreakable copies of their favorite games. Gone are the days of scratched disks and unreadable data. However, downloading these huge files has caused a few bugs in the software. The problem: Games and applications are being caught in a “Queued for Download” state of limbo or will just appear as a download error. Your system will show the game/app in your library, but it won’t be usable, nor can the download be canceled and restarted. The solution: We wish we had better news, but as of now the only way to fix the problem is by initiating a full factory reset of the system. This will remain the solution until Sony can patch the bug via a wireless system update (assuming that the problem exists in the system’s code/software). To factory reset: Go to Settings > System Select System Software Select Reset Options Select Reset Your Console Select Reset. This will wipe the system of its memory, and players will have to download their previously saved games. Thankfully, the cloud will maintain in- game progress. Players are advised to make sure their cloud is working properly before initiating the factory reset. Issue transferring data from PS4. While setting up your PS5, you will be prompted to transfer your PS4 data either wirelessly or via USB/LAN cable. This step is completely optional, but transferring the data is most easily done during set-up. The Problem: PS5 users have reported extremely long wait times when transferring data via cable. There’ve been reports of full system crashes as well. The Solution: While hardwiring may seem like the safest solution, it is actually easier for the system to transfer data via Wi-Fi. Make sure both systems are connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal. Players who continue to experience issues are unfortunately advised to initiate a factory reset. Cross-generation games are running the PS4 version. As we inched closer to launch day, players were offered the choice of purchasing digital copies of the latest games with cross-gen compatibility. This either came in the form of an extra few dollars for Black Ops: Cold War pre-orders or as a built-in feature with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. The Problem: Both versions of the game (PS4 & PS5) are being installed. The PS5, for one reason or another, defaults to the PS4 version of the game. The Solution: A tweet from Activision support in reference to Black Ops: Cold War (the game players have reported experiencing this problem) advises the following: To make sure you’re playing the next-gen version of #BlackOpsColdWar on PS5: 1. Highlight the game tile on the Dashboard 2. Scroll down and highlight “Play” 3. Select the 3 dots and open the menu 4. Select “PS5 | Full | Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” 5. You should also make sure this bug isn’t tied to the “download limbo” bug previously mentioned. Your system may only have the Ps4 version of the game downloaded while the PS5 version is stuck. PS5 may crash in rest mode. Players use rest mode when downloading games overnight or charging their controllers when out of the house. It’s a great way to conserve energy and let your system do its job in a low-power mode. The Problem: PS5 has been reported to crash unexpectedly when entering rest mode. The Solution: Err on the side of caution and don’t use rest mode until Sony can figure out what the issue is. Players are advised to disable rest mode completely by going to: Setting s > Power Saving Select Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode Disable rest mode. This will ensure players don’t accidentally enter rest mode and crash their entire system. It’s not a bug that is plaguing everybody, but there is no sense in risking it. PlayStation 5 Bugs and Glitches (With Fixes) You Should Know About At Launch. The PlayStation 5 is finally here, and those who managed to be first in line are now embracing the next generation of video games with open arms. So far, it has impressed with the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales , Astro’s Playroom and Demon’s Souls , and our minds have been blown especially with the tech on the new DualSense controller. However, while many who have it now are probably having the time of their lives, those who are still patiently waiting for their PS5s to arrive on the sidelines won’t envy the fact that this first wave of gamers will also be privy to the numerous system bugs and glitches that have cropped up in the past week after the console’s launch. Fear not, fellow gamer. If you’ve been experiencing any of the following errors on your PS5, know that you’re not alone; we’ve had our fair share of system issues too. Currently, Sony has yet to dole out an update or a proper hotfix for most of these problems (hopefully they’ll address these issues soon), but thankfully there are always ways to work around them for now. As such, here is the list of known problems encountered on PS5 systems and possible ways to counteract them: 1. Games and apps are stuck in download queue. A lot of players, us included, have encountered this rather frustrating issue of digital downloads perpetually being “Queued for Download” on their PS5, and aren’t even downloading despite waiting for an extended period of time. This not only applies to games, but apps such as and Disney+. Solution(s): A factory reset seems to fix the issue. If it occurs once more, you might have to perform another factory reset, unfortunately. 2. Can’t connect to PlayStation Network. Somehow, users also can’t seem to connect to the PSN properly, let alone download games and apps. Solution(s): While there isn’t any hard fix for this, you can try to get around this by either Checking the PSN’s Network Service Status on the official website, or Checking your home’s router to see if it’s working properly (or check with your internet service provider to see if there are any issues). 3. Can’t transfer PS4 data to the PS5 via USB/LAN during/after initial setup. The initial setup phase for the PS5 will inevitably prompt users to transfer data from their PS4 console, either via WiFi, USB via an external HDD/SSD, or a LAN cable (this part can be skipped if you don’t have one, or if you just don’t want to) on the ports on the back of the console. As it turns out, users have reported issues stemming from the latter two options, where transferring data has been either abnormally long, or has resulted in the PS5 crashing, or in worst cases, bricking fully. Solution(s): The best possible way to transfer data from your PS4 to the PS5 is by doing it via WiFi at present. If you absolutely need a USB port for the PS5, you could still try the front port, which currently doesn’t seem to have an issue. However, do so at your own risk, as Sony doesn’t have official external storage support for the PS5 yet. Currently, there have been reports of PS5 consoles crashing with an external storage drive connected (see error #5). Another plausible quick-fix is to perform a factory reset, though this means you’ll have to re-transfer all the PS4 data as the factory reset wipes all existing data on the console. 4. PS4 games are unplayable on the PS5. Even after getting your PS4 games on the PS5, there seems to be the potential issue of them being registered as “unplayable” on the new console, with users being prompted to purchase the game again on the PS Store. While there is a list of games that can only be played on the PS4 (check out Android Central for the full list), Sony has confirmed that all other games should be backwards-compatible with the PS5. Solution(s): Currently, possible way to get around this issue is to manually restore game licenses on your PS5 system. To do this: Under Settings, go to User and Accounts Scroll to Other Finally, press Restore Licenses . The following screen should let you play your PS4 games on your PS5. 5. PS5 freezes/switches off while running games. This is arguably one of the scarier issues here, and unfortunately has been happening to quite a number of PS5 owners now. The worst part is that the sudden stalling or crashing can happen at any point in time, be it running Netflix or playing Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales . This might also be due to connecting an external storage drive, which, at the time of writing, doesn’t have a hotfix from Sony as of yet. Solution(s): While awaiting a system update from Sony to patch this issue, you could try doing a factory reset, which, unfortunately means you’ll have to reinstall all your games and apps again. 6. PS5 crashes when activating rest mode. Another rather hair-raising bug folks have encountered is that the PS5 will occasionally crash when entering rest mode, to the point where it might actually brick the console (via Reddit). Scary, right? Yeah, we know. Solution(s): Currently, Sony has yet to address this system issue, but the best way to counter this is to simply switch off your PS5 when it’s not in use. Yes, while many might be used to putting it on rest mode while downloading games overnight or when going out, it might be wise to just… not use rest mode until Sony comes up with a patch for this problem. Also, you can completely remove rest mode for your PS5 console by doing the following: Go to Settings , then Power Saving Select Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode Select Disable rest mode . 7. DualSense controller malfunctioning after initial setup. Aside from updating the PS5 console when you first set it up, you will be prompted to update the DualSense controller by connecting it directly to the console directly via USB-C, and leaving it there until the update installs fully. However, if for whatever reason you decide to disconnect the cable while the update is being installed, it might cause the DualSense to act up and not work properly. Solution(s): Should this problem occur, you will have to re-download the PS5 update following these steps: Go to Settings , then System , and then System Software Update and Settings Set updates to download and install automatically Select Update System Software If the problem persists, you might have to perform a factory reset on your PS5. 8. PS Camera unable to connect (Error CE-111161-1) For those planning to stream games on the PS5, one would naturally have to connect the new PS Camera accessory in order to do so. However, some users have encountered the error code ‘CE-111161-1’ while trying to install a camera. Solution(s): According to the official Sony PlayStation troubleshooting page for error ‘CE-111161-1’, users have to perform the following steps: If you are using PS Camera, you need a dedicated adapter to use it with PS5. Please check the connection method according to the device you have. Use it in a bright room as much as possible Check the position by adjusting the distance to the camera or the camera’s angle. Review the settings of the camera on your PS5. 9. PS5 images look distorted on the TV/monitor. Some users have reported their images, while booting up games or apps on the PS5, looking rather distorted or shaky, or there doesn’t even seem to be any signal at all. This typically happens as a result of using third-party HDMI cables to hook the PS5 console up to the TV or monitor. Solution(s): Switch over the official HDMI cable provided in the PS5’s box and your images should go back to normal.
