The force needed to split wood varies a lot, so when choosing a log splitter consider the following. It’s not all about price but more about making the job as easy and quick as your budget will allow. Vertical Log Splitters are usually used when you can lift the wood by hand and put it on a waist height table for splitting into logs. To make big wood easier to handle and lift onto a table, it is often cut into rings. Some of the vertical models have an adjustable table height that can also be removed so you can split long wood up to 110cm high. If it is a big diameter, the 12-14-16-18-25 ton models can have a lifting arm to stand the log up. Horizontal Log Splitters are mainly designed for what we call Billeting, IE you take a 100cm log and split it into long Billets that you then season (dry). When the Billets are seasoned, you can cut them to the log length you want, hopefully with one of our saw benches, or saws and conveyors. However, you can place a number of rings in a row on a horizontal splitter and push the row through the knife. To do this, the rings must be cut parallel so they don’t fly off whilst splitting! Horizontal log splitters can be specially ordered to take the log length the customer wants. For example, the A22OR could be with a 2 or 2.5 meter log length. Again, the Billet can then be cut to log length on a saw. Using this method you can also take large diameter timber and make it into Billets for a firewood processor. For example, if the firewood processor takes a maximum diameter of 30cm timber, you can use something like a 30 Ton horizontal log splitter with 2 meter log length to make four 2 meter long Billets that can then be put through the 30cm firewood processor. To help you decide what size log splitter you need, the following guide may help. It is based on splitting green, average / good timber, the maximum length the splitter will take and with a single knife into two pieces. They will of course split bigger diameter timber but this is a general guide that will make sure you are happy with your log splitter even if you have bad timber: Vertical splitters Horizontal splitters 5 ton = 12cm diameter & 35cm long. 12 ton = 30-40cm diameter & 70-110cm long 8 ton = 20cm diameter & 55cm long. 14-16 ton = 40-60cm diameter & 70-160cm long 9 ton = 25cm diameter & 56cm long. 22 ton = 60-80cm diameter & 70-250cm long 11 ton = 30cm diameter & 70cm long. 30 ton = 60-100cm diameter & 100-250cm long 12-14 ton = 30-40cm diameter & 110cm long 40 ton = 60-120cm diameter & 100-300cm long 16-18 ton = 40-50cm diameter & 110cm long. 60 ton = 60-140cm diameter & 100-300cm long 25 ton = 50-80cm diameter & 110cm long. 100 ton = 60-200cm diameter & 100-300cm long If the timber is very bad with lots of knots and twists, or is seasoned, then you will need more power for the diameter. Especially if it is seasoned hard wood such as Oak, as this becomes very hard to split. When a vertical splitter is available with a 4 way knife, you should consider the following: 1) The 4 way is for splitting one log / piece of timber into four equal logs. 2) The timber should be nice and straight with no big knots 3) The timber should be straight grained and not all twisted. So if the 4 way knife is for a 12 ton machine, then the maximum diameter is 30cm. Information we need to offer advice on which log splitter is best for you: • Is it for commercial or private use? • What timber, i.e. hardwood or softwood? • What diameter? • What length do

On the other hand, the go-paperless crusaders don’t draw a clear enough distinction between the exploitive forest practices going on in some parts of the world and the responsible, important tree farming that’s going on around here. FIREWOOD PROCESSORS AND EQUIPMENT FIREWOOD PROCESSORS AND EQUIPMENT We are proud to introduce a modern range of firewood processors. Since we started manufacturing our first firewood processors back in 2004 we have actively been improving and developing new models. We are thankful for feedback from our customers. We continuously introduce improvements in order to offer better product at any time. Originals ideas (a story full of innovations is our background). Since we in the early sixties started manufacturing safety frames for tractors we took unorthodox steps and made a more cost efficient and user friendly design than our competitors at that time. Even at that time we applied new technology and new materials. This means hydraulic shaped high tensile steel materials in order to meet approval specifications and tests. The leading principle for all our products is to offer improved features and have cost effective production. Active use of new material qualities. There is a continuos development in steel materials and qualities. New qualities (so called high tensile steels from 500) have a much higher resistance to damage like breakage and bends compared to traditional quality. Such materials are especially suitable for firewood processors being strength-tested all the time. We do all the time actively apply such materials in order to get the very best resistance to damages. This also our motivation for investing in new production technologies and machines which can handle such steel qualities. A very skilled manufacturer. We have long time experience with manufacture and deliveries of complex items and components to other industry. This means high requirements to finish, welding quality and surface treatment in addition to being competitive.

Ember Bentley Macon The forest products industry remains a strong economic force in Georgia. Our latest study of Ben Gillis Dublin the industry shows an increase in economic output from 2017 to 2018. The total direct and Chad Nimmer indirect impact of the forest industry on Georgia’s economy in 2018 increased .9% to $36.3 Blackshear billion, with a total of 148,414 jobs. Forestry ranked first among all industries in the state in Robert Pollard Appling wages and salaries, with $4.0 billion paid. Ken Sheppard Vidalia Georgia’s commercial forest totals 24.5 million acres that are sustainably managed primarily by private landowners. This forest should continue to supply solid wood and fiber to a strong forest industry for decades into the future. The Commission’s staff is working to insure that Georgia firms invest in Georgia wood product manufacturing as globalization places increasingly competitive demands on the industry. Creating enhanced forest value by marketing Georgia’s products through this Primary Wood-Using Industries Directory is an important part of our mission.
