Todestag August Bebels stellen wir den Vortrag von Ursula Herrmann, die Diskussionsbeiträge von Heinz Karl und Günter Wehner sowie – ergänzend – eine Rede August Bebels auf dem Dresdner Parteitag 1903 vor. Sie verdeutlichten nicht nur die heraus- ragenden Verdienste Bebels um die deutsche und internationale Arbeiterbewegung, sondern auch die große aktuelle Bedeutung seines revolutionären Erbes. Ursula Herrmann zog eine aufschlussreiche Bilanz der Bebel-Forschung, namentlich auch der DDR, und arbeitete insbe- sondere Bebels Auffassung des Verhältnisses von Revolution und Reform und seine antimilita- ristischen Positionen heraus. Faszinierend, wie sich in allen Fragen immer wieder Bebels Klassenstandpunkt manifestiert, am eindrucksvollsten wohl in seiner Dresdner Rede 1903: „Ich will der Todfeind dieser bürgerlichen Gesellschaft und dieser Staatsordnung bleiben, um sie in ihren Existenzbedingungen zu untergraben und sie, wenn ich kann, beseitigen.“ Die konkrete Analyse der Theorie und Praxis Bebels macht zugleich deutlich, welcher Abgrund zwischen ihnen und der Politik der SPD nach Bebel klafft.     久 留 米 大 学 御 井 図 書 館 ニ ュ ー ス No.105 2020 年 12 月 1 日発行 読書でワーキングメモリを鍛えよう 学生部長 木藤 恒夫 読書は劣化したワーキングメモリの改善に役立つようだ。ワーキングメモリは、文字通り「作業中に働く」記憶システム であり、情報を一時的に脳内に保ちながら、その情報を操作し利用する機能を持つ。会話や読み書き、スポーツや車 の運転といった日常のあらゆる場面で欠かせないものである。 ワーキングメモリをうまく機能させることができる人は、複数のことを同時にこなし、一連の作業を効率的に実行する。 いわゆる「仕事ができる」人である。逆にワーキングメモリの機能が低下すると、つい先ほど使った眼鏡や鍵の置き場所 がわからなくなる、買い物の際に目新しい商品に気を取られて目的のものを買い忘れてしまう、など日常生活場面で の失敗が多くなる。加齢とともにワーキングメモリは劣化する。ワーキングメモリの効率は 20～30 代がピークで、年齢が 上がるにつれて機能が衰えていく。ワーキングメモリの加齢変化は、一度に蓄えられる記憶量（もともと７個程度しか ない）の減少や、情報の保持時間（もともと 30 秒程度しかない）の短縮ではない。情報を脳内に保ちながら処理 する能力の低下である。この能力低下は、加齢のみならず、単にワーキングメモリの使用頻度が減ると顕在化する。 日常生活を健全に過ごすためには、老若を問わず、何か手を打つ必要があろう。 では、どのようにしたらワーキングメモリの劣化を防ぎ、機能の低下を改善させることができるのか。適度の睡眠や運 動はワーキングメモリの働きを保つために効果がある。もう少し強力にワーキングメモリを鍛えるには、筋肉の衰えには筋 トレがあるように、脳の機能低下にはさまざまな脳トレの手段がある。記憶力や暗算力を強化する脳トレ教材が巷に は出回っている。しかし、実際に試してはいないが，それらの多くはあまり面白そうには思えない。どうせならば、トレーニ ングは面白く楽しくやりたいものである。楽しければ持続するので効果も期待できよう。打ってつけのトレーニングとして 料理や読書がある。料理は相当に効果が期待できるが、実施におけるコスト、時間、設備・器具などの制約がある。 手軽さや効果の点から見ると、読書は有力なトレーニングの一つと思われる。 ミステリーを読むことをお薦めする。上質のミステリーでは、登場人物も多く、ストーリーの展開には様々な伏線があり、 一筋縄では結末にたどり着けない。登場人物の名前や年齢や風貌はもとより、性格特性や行動特性を理解し記憶 し、人物イメージを作り出す必要がある。もちろん、ストーリーの時間軸上の流れも把握しなければならない。ミステリー を読む愉しみは、それらの知識をもとに論理的な推理を展開し、著者が構築した論理への挑戦である。これでワーキ ングメモリを鍛えることができるのに、読書をしない手はないと思うのだが・・・。 - 1 - 「本を読む」とは 商学部商学科２年 宮崎 嵩民 少し硬い題名になっていますが、ここでは「私の本を読むことに対する気持ちの変化」とそもそも「なぜ本を読むのか」 について考えていきたいと思います。 まず私は、もともと本を読むことがあまり好きではありませんでした。時間も割かないといけないし、何より活字が苦手 でした。同じように思っている方もいるのではないでしょうか。そのような私が本を読むようになったきっかけは、レポートの 課題です。1 年生の時は、入門科目がほとんどでインターネットの情報をもとにすれば、完成させることができました。し かし、2 年生になり、授業の内容が専門的になるとインターネットの情報だけでは正確性や信憑性に欠けると気づき、

She rose to prominence as a social democrat beginning in 1890 and became a Marxist and, as of 1919, a member of the high-ranking cadre of the KPD; she was an activist of the Second International, starting in 1889, and belonged to the Executive Committee of the Communist International (EKKI) in the 1920s. She is known in history primarily as the leader and chief ideologue of the socialist, and later the international communist, women's movement, but is also a popular ®gure in the leftist women's movement of the twentieth century. Zetkin, the founder of International Women's Day, is still widely depicted as a heroine. However, in light of recent research conducted in Berlin and Moscow and from the perspective of the history of mentalities, the tendency to mythologize her needs to be questioned. This essay on Clara Zetkin's constructs of femininity is part of a biography oriented toward a history of mentalities, in which the socialist and communist Zetkin is presented in the entire societal context of her times, perceived as a contemporary of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. From this perspective, it is precisely Zetkin's comments on the women's issue that mirror the in¯uences of Social Darwinism and biological discussion at the turn of the century in Germany.
