To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye, That by virtue of part of Certificate No. 63 dated the 21st day of July 1897 obtained from the board of Commissioners for West Tennessee by Thomas Dillon and entered on the 28 day of August 1897 by No. 171 as an occupant claim, there is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto Jacob Mitchell assignee of the said Thomas Dillon a certain tract or parcel of land, containing fifty acres, lying in White County in the third District, on the big spring branch of Cane Creek of the main fork of Cany fork. Beginning at a white oak standing on the bank of the big springs branch and on a conditional line of said Mitchell’s Daniel Hasting and Joseph Hastings, running thence north eighty two degrees west with Daniel Hastings conditional line crossing the big springs branch at three poles in all one hundred and thirteen poles to a post oak and dogwood, on the line of John Terryes preference right, thence north forty three poles with Terryes conditional line to a small post oak thence east with another of Terryes conditional lines crossing the big Spring branch one hundred and eighty poles to two small dogwoods on the bank of the branch and on Isham Bradley’s conditional line thence south fifty degrees west with Bradleys’s conditional line up the big spring branch ninety two poles to the beginning. Surveyed May 14th 1808 with the hereditaments and appurtenances; to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with its appurtenances, to the said Jacob Mitchell and his heirs forever. In witness whereof, John Sevier Governor of the State of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the great seal of the State to be affixed, at Knoxville on the twenty sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight and of the Independence of the United States the thirty third. I think perhaps so.] #529 …..same as above……. “there is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto Isham Bradley assignee of the said Thomas Dillon a certain tract or parcel of land, containing fifty acres lying in White County, in the third District, on the big Springs branch, Beginning at a White Oak marked IB on a conditional line with Jacob Mitchell running thence with said line down the branch north fifty degrees east fifty six poles to a maple, thence east sixty poles to two small hickories, thence south one hundred and two poles to two poplars, thence west forty eight poles to pointers on a conditional line with Joseph Hastings, thence with said line north fifty degrees west eighty five poles to the beginning. Surveyed June 18th 1808 with the hereditaments and appurtenances; to have and to hold……..Isham Bradley……..on the twenty sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight……….etc., etc.” Vol. C, pg. 108, Land Grant No. 535 26 Sept. 1808 Tennessee by part of Certif. 63 dated 21 July 1807 obtained by Thomas Dillard, to David Hastin, assee of sd. Dillard, tr of 150 acres in 3rd Dist. On the big spring branch of Cane Creek of main fork of Caney fork, adj. Joseph Hasting and Jacob Mitchell. Daniel Haston is reported to have purchased 150 acres in 1808, in what is now Van Buren County, at the time the 2nd district of White County. The land was located on the Big Spring Branch on Cane Creek and the fork of Caney Fork River. On this land he built his home and lived there until he died in 1826. He was a farmer. He was buried in the Big Fork Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. –from PIONEERS OF WHITE COUNTY, TENNESSEE by W. J. H.
