The cranium was sectioned by a medical examiner, who worked with a forensic anthropologist after the remains were exhumed. The light color of the sawed edge of the cranial vault indicates that this cut occurred during the recent autopsy. Several teeth were also knocked out. Charring is evident on the top of the cranium and portions of the ankle and elbow bones — body parts least protected by soft tissues. How much and where the skeleton is burned gives information about the circumstances of death and the body's position. Erosion of bone can occur even in a coffin. The innominates and sacrum show erosion on the surface in contact with the bottom of the coffin. The pattern of the erosion indicates the body's position in the grave. As a result of the autopsy's findings and related criminal investigations in this case, a suspect was brought to trial and found guilty of murder and arson. Skip to main content. Clues indicate the burial took place during the first weeks or months of settlement at Jamestown. Was this the colony's first fatality? In , archaeologists opened a narrow, lead-covered coffin to find well-preserved remains of a woman strewn with rosemary sprigs. Her coffin lay between a larger lead coffin holding the remains of a man, and a small lead coffin, holding the remains of an infant. Mary's City, Maryland. Creator Hart Hanson posted on Twitter humorously regarding the notes he got from the network, "I received studio notes on the Bones spin-off idea. They want it to be better. Unreasonable taskmasters. Impossible dreamers. In the episode, Booth and Brennan travel to Key West, Florida , where the spin-off is said to take place. Nathan went on to say regarding the casting of character,. That's why when you have Hugh Laurie , who is essentially playing a very unlikable character, you love to see him. And that is a rare, rare quality to find. And the finder won't be an unlikable character, but because it is a unique character, it's difficult to find just the right person. Geoff Stults was cast as the lead character with Michael Clarke Duncan and Saffron Burrows cast as the other two lead characters. The Finder was picked up for the —12 season May 10, , with an order of 13 episodes. Reviews for the pilot episode were mixed, and it holds a Metacritic score of 55 out of , based on 29 critical reviews. USA Today comments that, compared to other crime shows, the show "is built on a more traditional and solid foundation: the strength of its characters", and "what sets Tuesday's Bones premiere apart from the procedural pack are stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, as the season's most appealing new crime fighters. In fact, it quickly becomes so derivative of so much else on television — especially, strangely, X-Files — that one might even call it bone-headed. The series has also won two Genesis Awards for the episodes "The Woman in Limbo" and "The Tough Man in the Tender Chicken" for raising awareness on the issues of pig slaughtering and industrial chicken farms, while the episode "The Finger in the Nest" received a nomination. A spin- off series consisting of 26 two-minute episodes, called Bones: Skeleton Crew , was produced by Fox and launched through a partnership with Sprint Nextel in conjunction with MasterCard 's sponsorship. It was released to Sprint TV subscribers in November and released on the official website of Bones on December 4, The episodes do not feature the show's main cast; its plot revolves around three Jeffersonian Institute lab technicians who use their skills to solve a mystery. Aside from the television broadcast of Bones , its characters and concepts have also been produced in print, on the Internet and in short videos for mobile phones. Currently, there are two print books related to the series, one a novel and the other an official guide. Fox initially made extensive use of the internet to promote Bones. Prior to the broadcast of the second-season episode "The Glowing Bones in the Old Stone House", profiles of the characters involved in the episode were put up on their own MySpace web page. The blog entries of the characters were created to give insight into the potential suspects to be featured in the episode. In the episode, Brennan and her team uses clues from these web pages, which the viewers can also access. Bonus content was posted by Fox on Bones ' official site during the third season, which include short videos featuring Booth and Brennan waiting to see Dr. Sweets for couple's therapy. The first three seasons, the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth season were released on DVD format only, while seasons four through eight were also released on Blu-ray Disc format. Eleven of fourteen coprolite specimens showed good pollen preservation, acceptable pollen concentration, and diversity of both arboreal and herbaceous taxa, together with a number of non-pollen palynomorph types, especially fungal spores. Radiocarbon dating suggests that the coprolite collection derives from badger colonies that established setts and latrines inside the cavern over the last three centuries. The coprolite pollen record depicts a mosaic, anthropogenic landscape very similar to the present-day, comprising pine forests, Quercus-dominated formations, woodland patches with Juniperus thurifera, and a Cistaceae- dominated understorey with heliophytes and nitrophilous assemblages. Although influential, dietary behavior of the badgers does not preclude palaeoenvironmental

  • Firefly Season 2” Is the Only Work of Fan Fiction I’Ve Ever Written, and I Wouldn’T Be Surprised If It’S the Only One I Ever Write
Firefly 201 + script bible 30th January 2016 revision Mike Le Page Author’s notes: The act of creating art is something I hold sacred, and I have no interest in shitting on someone else’s work, especially someone I respect as much as Joss Whedon. The following spec script for “Firefly season 2” is the only work of fan fiction I’ve ever written, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the only one I ever write. I only wrote it because I had a waking dream that provided a neat way to tie up several loose ends from the series/movie as well as a way to bring Wash back that performs a critical plot function and isn’t just fan-service. This was written with longer-format episodes in mind. The crazy idea I had was that Firefly would be the ideal property with which to trial a kind of in-cinema, once-a-month mini-movie format which would promote the community of fans gathering at cinemas and allow studios to recoup the costs of shooting more expensive “TV” shows – much the same way that iMAX cinemas sold out for showings of Game of Thrones episodes. The idea was a second season of 8x 80-90 minute minimovies of Firefly, shot in a LOTR style shoot and released once a month over a single calendar year. This idea is in no way necessary for this script to work, but it perhaps goes some way to explain the length of this script. What you’ll notice is that I’ve erred on the side of changing things considerably from the first season/movie, separating the crew and mothballing Serenity for reasons to be explained: I don’t think it’s plausible that we could come back to the crew 10+ years later and have it be exactly the same.

  • How I Set up My Own Body Farm by Jennifer Dean
How I Set Up My Own Body Farm By Jennifer Dean To prepare for a new forensic science elective at Camas High School, and determined to make this new course an exciting application of biology and chemistry principles, I began by collecting forensic science resources, ordering books and enrolling in the local community college course on forensic science. I spent every extra hour soaking up as much as I could about this field during the “time off” teachers get in the summer. I was particularly fascinated by the fields of forensic entomology and anthropology. From books such as Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach and Dr. Bill Bass’s work around the creation of a human body farm at the University of Tennessee Forensic Anthropology Center, I decided to create something similar for our new high school forensic science program. As we met for dinner after a day of revitalizing workshops in Seattle at an NSTA conference, I shared my thoughts about the creation of an animal body farm with my talented and dedicated colleagues. These teachers have a passion for their students and their work. I felt free to share these ideas with them and know I’d be supported in making it a reality. As the Science Department, we formally agreed to dedicate ourselves to submitting grants to make it a reality. Back at work, I sent copies of the farm proposal to my immediate supervisors, and they responded with letters of support. The next step was getting the farm started—with or without grant money—because the first class of forensic science would be starting in the fall.

“IT REVEALS WHO I REALLY AM”: NEW METAPHORS, SYMBOLS, AND MOTIFS IN REPRESENTATIONS OF AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS IN POPULAR CULTURE By Summer Joy O’Neal A Dissertation Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English Middle Tennessee State University 2013 Dissertation Committee: Dr. Angela Hague, Chair Dr. David Lavery Dr. Robert Petersen Copyright © 2013 Summer Joy O’Neal ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS There simply is not enough thanks to thank my family, my faithful parents, T. Brian and Pamela O’Neal, and my understanding sisters, Auburn and Taffeta, for their lifelong support; without their love, belief in my strengths, patience with my struggles, and encouragement, I would not be in this position today. I am forever grateful to my wonderful director, Dr. Angela Hague, whose commitment to this project went above and beyond what I deserved to expect. To the rest of my committee, Dr. David Lavery and Dr. Robert Petersen, for their seasoned advice and willingness to participate, I am also indebted. Beyond these, I would like to recognize some “unofficial” members of my committee, including Dr. Elyce Helford, Dr. Alicia Broderick, Ari Ne’eman, Chris Foss, and Melanie Yergau, who graciously offered me necessary guidance and insightful advice for this project, particularly in the field of Disability Studies. Yet most of all, Ephesians 3.20-21. iii ABSTRACT Autism has been sensationalized by the media because of the disorder’s purported prevalence: Diagnoses of this condition that was traditionally considered to be quite rare have radically increased in recent years, and an analogous fascination with autism has emerged in the field of popular culture.
