Korpuksen pohjalta koottu, 466 elokuva-aiheista uudissanaa käsittävä sanaluettelo analysoitiin

The films Boyz n the Hood (1991) and Kidulthood (2006) explore the current problems of the South Central and Grove hoods respectively, while presenting the effects of the historical construction of these spaces. Both are written and directed by black men, set and shot in the areas in which they grew up, John Singleton’s Boyz n the Hood (Boyz) and Noel Clarke’s Kidulthood intimately reveal the nuances of their hoods. Through analysing the two hood films’ depiction of race and space, the socio-economic effects on race relations in London and LA can be examined. The “Great Migration” in the US, out of the South from 1910-1930, due to obtainable wealth in factory jobs, caused a shift in the African American identity; black people were not simply associated with the South’s con- 4 notations of slavery. • A Game Engine Designed to Simplify 2D Video Game Development
A Game Engine Designed to Simplify 2D Video Game Development Miguel Chover ₁ Carlos Marín ₂ ₅ Cristina Rebollo ₃ Inmaculada Remolar ₄ Institute of New Imaging Technologies - Universitat Jaume I. Castellón. Spain. ₁ [email protected][email protected][email protected][email protected] ₅ Corresponding Author. E-mail: [email protected]. Phone Number: +34 616 29 76 65 Abstract In recent years, the increasing popularity of casual games for mobile and web has promoted the development of new editors to make video games easier to create. The development of these interactive applications is on its way to becoming democratized, so that anyone who is interested, without any advanced knowledge of programming, can create them for devices such as mobile phones or consoles. Nevertheless, most game development environments rely on the traditional way of programming and need advanced technical skills, even despite today’s improvements. This paper presents a new 2D game engine that reduces the complexity of video game development processes. The game specification has been simplified, decreasing the complexity of the engine architecture and introducing a very easy-to-use editing environment for game creation. The engine presented here allows the behaviour of the game objects to be defined using a very small set of conditions and actions, without the need to use complex data structures. Some experiments have been designed in order to validate its ease of use and its capacity in the creation of a wide variety of games. To test it, users with little experience in programming have developed arcade games using the presented environment as a proof of its easiness with respect to other comparable software.

  • An "Official" Spelljammer Guide to the Spheres [Revised 1.0]
Guide to the Spheres An "official" Spelljammer Guide to the Spheres [revised 1.0] By Paul Westermeyer aka GMWestermeyer Table of Contents: Page Section 1 Introduction 2 Phlogiston Navigation 4 Phlogiston Transit Times 4 Where is the Rock of Bral? 6 “Official” Flow Map 7 The Spheres and other Phlogiston Locations 23 ‘Loose’ Planets/Worlds 34 Bibliography: Introduction Spelljammer is a very unique and creative setting, but it is also one of the worst organized settings TSR produced with material is scattered among many different products. This makes it very difficult to find what you are looking for, a problem exasperated by Spelljammer’s status as a ‘connection’ campaign, designed (like Planescape) to connect the ‘big’ three settings, Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, and Dragonlance. I’ve been working to alleviate this problem by writing guides and indices for those aspects of Spelljammer that are most important for creating a coherent, rational game setting. The first of these guides was An “Official” Spelljammer Timeline, which collated Spelljammer-related historical mentions in published TSR products into a cohesive, coherent timeline that Spelljammer (or Hackjammer) gamemasters could use as the foundation of their own, personalized campaigns. This guide, An “Official” Spelljammer Guide to the Spheres, has a similar purpose. Spelljammer’s iconic center is the Rock of Bral, just as Sigil is the iconic heart of Planescape, Spelljammer’s setting cousin, but Sigil’s location is quite firmly placed at the center of the Plane of Concordant Opposition, metaphorically the heart of the entire Advanced Dungeons and Dragons multiverse. Moreover, the various inner and outer planes are all well mapped in relation to each other, and have been ever since the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Player’s Handbook in 1978.

Holding those you love, listen: To the cries of the dying, To the whisper of the wind over the silent dead, To the song my broken heart will ever sing Of the story of the Tree of the World And the death of all the dreams It once cradled in its mighty boughs. 1 PART ONE: IN THE IVORY TOWER In purity, all things are born. The eldest tree was once a tender sapling, And even the stars were young. O Lady Elune, Weep tears so sweet At the thought of the innocence That once was ours. Clang! The martial music of swordplay rang out as the two blades clashed. The combatants sprang apart, circling. The older man, hair and beard as white as moonlight, feinted, then brought his weapon arcing up and around. But the younger man was quick and deftly blocked the blow. Sparks flew, and the colliding blades glinted in the sunlight. “Nicely done,” Genn Greymane grunted even as he lunged. Again, the youth parried. “But one of these days, you’ll have to go on the—” Greymane barely got his sword up in time to prevent King Anduin Wrynn’s blow. “Offensive?” Anduin grinned. He bore down with the weapon, feeling the older man’s blade straining against it. His sun-colored hair had come loose and was falling into his eyes, and he grimaced as he realized Greymane had noticed. The Gilnean king abruptly pulled back. Caught off balance, Anduin stumbled forward.
