Career pathways Develop a strategy to provide a joint offer on work experience, e.g. share knowledge on what placements are offered by each organisation and build on this to provide a networked offer which may flex and respond to needs across the borough. Co-develop strategy with organisations such as 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning and Photofusion, with young people’s input? Develop a joined up approach to careers fairs/open days, by sharing knowledge and possibly partnering with ERICFestival, ‘an alternative careers fair for young people who want to get into the creative industries, designed by young people for young people’ rapidly growing in its success and in good contact with Lambeth Council. Work with schools Working with all of the borough’s (60?) primary schools to nurture sense of cultural entitlement at a young age. Develop modules as a group, scale for rollout (Mayor’s London Curriculum). Testing at what age a child or young person needs to find out and engage in the world of arts and culture in order to think of it as for them. Co-create with schools; teachers designing; delivering in cultural institutions Build on mapping of activity between organisations: NT, SBC, BFI, Rambert and work with schools (primary and secondary?) across borough to achieve 100% reach (bringing further organisations into mapping exercise: Old Vic, Young Vic, ITV?) and aiming to increase % or Artsmark schools to X%? (STEM to STEAM.) Cultural Trail (Doing the Lambeth Walk?) An exploration of the borough, which will make the most of the assets the South Bank cultural campus has to offer and link these to assets across the borough, historic and current, e.g. a trail which might take in the history of the Old Vic, visit the walkway at the NT, weave through SBC’s archives, walk along Lambeth Walk to the Pleasure Gardens, take in the rich history of the Music Halls and perhaps complete at West Norwood’s newly refurbished (2018) South London Theatre? Trail to be co-designed with young people in schools? To involve parents & carers, families… To involve artist(s) commission... (In Hull every school has an artist in residence) To produce a mapping of the borough’s cultural life, which could take multiple forms – a map for each child’s bedroom, a digital life, appearance in public realm? Exploration and representation/expression of the borough’s cultural DNA. .

The Lambeth Local Plan 2015 sets out planning policies for Lambeth to guide growth in Projects housing, jobs, infrastructure delivery, place-shaping and the quality of the built environment over the next 15 years to 2030. Together with the London Plan, it forms the development plan Delivered for the borough. The spatial strategy and strategic objectives for West Norwood and Tulse Hill are set out in Policies PN7 and ED1 of the Local Plan. PN7 promotes the role of West Norwood as a vibrant district centre through the development of key sites. The area includes West Norwood Commercial Area to the south, which is designated as ‘Key Industrial Business Areas’ (KIBAs) by ED1. The Council is preparing a Masterplan for the West Norwood and Tulse Hill area to expand on the guidance in the Local Plan and provide a framework for managing change and development in this area. A Masterplan is a framework. It sets out key principles of an area, and creates a vision for its future. It shows the overall development concept that includes urban design, landscaping, infrastructure, service provision, present and future land uses and built form. This work will provide the evidence for the Local Plan Review that is currently underway. Message from the Chairman Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and a warm welcome to the Network Theatre Company's production of Romeo and Juliet . Andy Bradshaw directs, with his inimitable style, a large and experienced cast in this popular Shakespeare play, ably supported by his backstage crew. What a wealth of talent we have in the Network Theatre Company, as you will see from this production. Congratulations to everyone involved. Tonight you will be sitting in a recently refurbished auditorium. Under the guidance of Paul Lunnon, a dedicated crew has removed the old staging and seating rostra, and has replaced them with a new, adaptable layout, making our theatre more comfortable and practical. We, in the NTC, are very grateful for all the hard (and heavy) work undertaken. So, tonight: sit back and enjoy the show (our third production this year). Enjoy the performances, the music, the dancing, and new stage and seating layout. May I also remind you that the Green Room bar is open before and after the show, as well as during the interval, and thank you for your support. It includes 682 buildings and sites known to be at risk from Tneglect, decay or inappropriate development - everything from an early 18th century church designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, to a boathouse built during WWI on an island in the Thames. These are sites that need imagination and investment. In London the scale of this challenge has grown. There are 12 more assets on the Heritage at Risk Register this year compared to 2015. We also know that it’s becoming more expensive to repair many of our buildings at risk. In the face of these challenges we’re grateful for the help and support of all those who continue to champion our historic environment.

The first comprehensive cultural plan for the borough. Its priority is people are healthier for longer. The council is faced with taking decisions that it would not normally like to take, but failing to operate within a legal budget is not an option. Culture 2020 seeks to take an ambitious approach by creating the foundations for growth beyond merely reacting to the unprecedented cuts to our funding. Our Ambition By 2020 we want Lambeth to be recognised as the destination in South London for those wanting to enjoy world-class cultural activities, or grow a cultural enterprise. We also want all residents to live within 20 minutes average walking distance of a facility where they can enjoy culture, as well as having access to a range of affordable, excellent facilities to participate in culture be it sport, physical activities, parks, libraries, or the wider arts. Once the plans within Culture 2020 come to their full fruition they will create foundations which will help the borough to navigate some, but not all, of the worst impacts of the deepest cuts known to local government finance. These foundations will include: A sustainable library service built around 5 town centre libraries and 5 neighbourhood libraries, which are overall open for longer hours.

The Little Theatre Guild A Brief History 1946 - 2016 by Michael Shipley Introduction When the National Committee decided to commission a history of the Little Theatre Guild to celebrate the 70th Anniversary, there was no one better qualified to perform this important task than Michael Shipley. The history contains many notable events along the way and chronicles how the Guild has grown and evolved to become an important organisation in the world of amateur theatre. In a modern world where staging plays involves many new technical innovations and we are drawn into the digital world, the original objects of the Guild, as agreed at the inauguration meeting at the Waldorf Hotel, London on 18th May 1946 still hold good. The Little Theatre Guild continues to promote close co-operation of the member theatres, working together for mutual benefit. Through membership of the Guild, theatres all over the UK have a unique opportunity to regularly network with their fellow members. They can access advice on a whole range of topics to assist with managing their own theatre and help is on hand through the structure of the National Committee, Regional Secretaries and local theatre LTG Reps. The Little Theatre Guild is still growing and each year we manage to add to the membership numbers, this is testimony to the value that many theatres place on being part of a truly special organisation. This history is a fascinating read and is full of milestones and memories. It catalogues events and issues from around the UK. It gives you a true understanding of how the Guild has evolved and is great potted history to have in this our 70th birthday year.
