Private Candidates Centres 2007-2008 Private Candidate Centres 2007-2008 Examinations Version 1.9 PRIVATE CANDIDATE CENTRES • It is your responsibility to find a centre that will accommodate you for your examinations. • This list of centres is general. It includes all AQA approved centres that have indicated that they may accept entries from private candidates for AQA examinations held in the 2007-2008 series. AQA cannot provide you with detailed lists of centres for the subjects in which you are interested. • All private candidate entries are accepted at the discretion of the Head of the Centre. In most cases, a centre will normally only accept an entry from you if it is entering its own candidates for the Specifications you are interested in entering, or has other AQA examinations scheduled at the same time as the papers you wish to take. AQA has no power to direct a centre to accept your entry if the centre refuses to do so. • If you are unable to find a centre from this list that is willing to accommodate you, please try contacting your local schools or colleges as some centres may still be willing to accept entries from private candidates even if they have not notified AQA that they might do so. • The left hand column of each table holds the National Centre Number allocated to each centre: the right hand column holds the centre telephone number(s). 2 AVON 50753 BATH Monkton Combe School, Monkton Combe, Bath, N E Somerset, BA2 7HG 01225-721201 50601 BRISTOL Backwell School, Station Road, Backwell, Bristol, BS48 3BX 01275-463371 50607 BRISTOL Bristol Cathedral School, College Square, Bristol, BS1 5TS 0117-9291872 50549 BRISTOL Filton High School, New Road, Stoke Gifford, Bristol, BS34 8QT 01454-862400 50449 BRISTOL Mangotsfield School, Rodway Hill, Mangotsfield, Bristol, South Gloucs, BS16 9LH 01454 862700 50637 BRISTOL St Katherine's School, Ham Green, Pill, Bristol, BS20 0HU 01275-373737 50615 BRISTOL St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School, Somerset Square, Bristol, BS1 6RT 0117-3772100 50621 BRISTOL Withywood Community School, Molesworth Drive, Bristol, BS13 9BL 0117-3772065 50629 CLEVEDON Clevedon Community School, Valley Road, Clevedon, BS21 6AH 01275-876744 50651 WINSCOMBE Sidcot School, Oakridge Lane, Sidcot, Winscombe, Somerset, BS25 1PD 0193-484-3102 BEDFORDSHIRE 15137 BEDFORD Biddenham Upper School and Community College, Biddenham Turn, Biddenham, Bedford, MK40 4AZ 01234-342521 15128 BEDFORD Rushmoor School, 58-60 Shakespeare Road, Bedford, MK40 2DL 01234-352031 15163 BEDFORD Sharnbrook Upper School and Community College, Odell Road, Sharnbrook, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK44 1JL 01234-782211 15169 BEDFORD Wootton Upper Foundation School, Hall End Road, Wootton, Bedford, MK43 9HT 01234-767123 15203 DUNSTABLE The Northfields Technology College, Houghton Road, Dunstable, Beds, LU5 5AB 01582-619700 15225 LUTON Challney High School for Girls, Stoneygate Road, Luton, Beds, LU4 9TJ 01582-571427 15247 LUTON Luton VI Form College, Bradgers Hill Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU2 7EW 01582-877500 BERKSHIRE 51207 HUNGERFORD John O'gaunt Community Technology College, Priory Road, Hungerford, Berks, RG17 0AN 01488-682400 51518 MAIDENHEAD Funtech School, 1A the Colonnade, High Street, Maidenhead, Berks, SL6 1QL 01628-621216 51219 NEWBURY Park House School and Sports College, Andover Road, Newbury, Berks, RG14 6NQ 01635-573911 51319 READING Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre, Surley Row, Emmer Green, Reading, RG4 8LR 0118-901 5800 51603 READING Maiden Erlegh School, Silverdale Road, Earley, Reading, RG6 7HS 0118-9262467 51609 READING The Piggott School, Twyford Road, Wargrave, Reading, Berks, RG10 8DS 0118-9402357 51205 READING The Willink School, School Lane, Burghfield Common, Reading, Berkshire, RG7 3XJ 0118 9832030 51401 SLOUGH Baylis Court School, Gloucester Avenue, Slough, SL1 3AH 01753-531760 51433 SLOUGH Wexham School Specialist Sports College, Norway Drive, Wexham, Slough, Berkshire, SL2 5QP 01753-526797 3 BERKSHIRE (continued) 51611 WOKINGHAM Bearwood College, Bear Wood, Wokingham, Berks, RG41 5BG 0118-9786915 51621 WOKINGHAM Luckley-Oakfield School, Luckley Road, Wokingham, Berks, RG40 3EU 0118-9784175 51623 WOKINGHAM St Crispin's School, London Road, Wokingham, Berks, RG40 1SS 0118-9781144 51615 WOKINGHAM The Emmbrook School, Emmbrook Road, Wokingham, Berks, RG41 1JP 0118-9784406 BUCKINGHAMSHIRE 52131 BUCKINGHAM The Royal Latin School, Brookfield Lane, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, MK18 1AX 01280-813065 52229 CHESHAM Chesham Park Community College, Chartridge Lane, Chesham, Bucks, HP5 2RG 01494-782066 52423 HIGH WYCOMBE The Royal Grammar School, Amersham Road, High Wycombe, Bucks, HP13 6QT 01494-524955 52332 MILTON KEYNES Fenny House Milton Keynes Tuition Service, Jonathans, Coffee Hall, Milton Keynes, MK6 5DE 01908 679932 CAMBRIDGESHIRE 22149 CAMBRIDGE Cambridge Centre for VI Form Studies, 1 Salisbury Villas, Station Road, Cambridge, CB1 2JF 01223-716890 22184 CAMBRIDGE Cambridge Student Support Centre, Ascham Road, Cambridge, CB4 2BD 01223-712900 22131 CAMBRIDGE Parkside Community College, Parkside, Cambridge, CB1 1EH 01223-712600 22158 ELY City of Ely College, Downham Road, Ely, Cambs, CB6 2SH 01353-667763 22177 ELY Witchford Village College, Manor Road, Witchford, Ely, Cambs, CB6 2JA 01353-662053 22215 ST NEOTS St Neots Community College, Barford Road, Eynesbury, St Neots, Cambs, PE19 2SH 01480-374748 22312 WISBECH The Bridge School, 10A -14 South Brink, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, PE13 1JJ 01945 427276 CHANNEL ISLANDS 67151 ALDERNEY Saint Anne's School, Newtown, Alderney, Channel Islands, GY9 3XP 01481-822173 67102 ST ANDREWS Blanchelande Girls' College, Les Vauxbelets, St Andrews, Guernsey, GY6 8XY 01481-237200/232856 67108 ST ANDREWS The Grammar School - • Secondary School and Academy Admissions
Secondary School and Academy Admissions INFORMATION BOOKLET 2021/2022 For children born between 1st September 2009 and 31st August 2010 Page 1 Schools Information Admission number and previous applications This is the total number of pupils that the school can admit into Year 7. We have also included the total number of pupils in the school so you can gauge its size. You’ll see how oversubscribed a school is by how many parents had named a school as one of their five preferences on their application form and how many of these had placed it as their first preference. Catchment area Some comprehensive schools have a catchment area consisting of parishes, district or county boundaries. Some schools will give priority for admission to those children living within their catchment area. If you live in Gloucestershire and are over 3 miles from your child’s catchment school they may be entitled to school transport provided by the Local Authority. Oversubscription criteria If a school receives more preferences than places available, the admission authority will place all children in the order in which they could be considered for a place. This will strictly follow the priority order of their oversubscription criteria. Please follow the below link to find the statistics for how many pupils were allocated under the admissions criteria for each school - https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-admissions-scheme-criteria- and-protocol/allocation-day-statistics-for-gloucestershire-schools/. We can’t guarantee your child will be offered one of their preferred schools, but they will have a stronger chance if they meet higher priorities in the criteria.

  • Oakbank Author: Department for Education (Dfe)
Title: Oakbank Author: Department for Education (DfE) Impact Assessment – Section 9 Academies Act Duty 1. Section 9 of the Academies Act 2010 places a duty upon the Secretary of State to take into account what the impact of establishing the additional school would be likely to be on maintained schools, Academies and institutions within the further education sector in the area in which the additional school is (or is proposed to be) situated. 2. Any adverse impact will need to be balanced against the benefits of establishing the new school. Background 3. Oakbank is an 11-16 school for 560 pupils, due to open in September 2012 with 84 pupils in Year 7. It was proposed by existing Academy sponsor CfBT in partnership with a parent group known locally as WoW (standing for west of Wokingham). The group feel that those living in the rural villages to the West of Wokingham are disadvantaged in securing a school place for their children as a result of the admissions arrangements for other schools in Wokingham which prioritise children living closest to schools. They feel that this means that they get “what’s left”, and have to travel long distances past their closest school. It was envisaged that establishing Oakbank would provide a school closer to home to which these children would be admitted. 4. Oakbank will be situated on the site of the old Ryeish Green School in Wokingham Borough. It is, however, closer to Reading than it is to the town of Wokingham, although the M4 separates the school from the south of Reading.

Editorial Oh my!! Can anyone spot the mistake opposite? Sad but true: I very much doubt it was deliberate or ironic – and I think we can safely assume that whoever wrote the copy for the Worcester News sign has enjoyed neither the benefits of an education on a par with that of our former school, nor remembered F7 (spell check) before hitting the print button! But let’s set our giggles and smiles aside for a moment because the sign was the culmination of an intense period of work for a small number of Governors and senior leaders in school, the welcoming of Dodderhill School to the RGS family. As an institution, we take pride in tracing our roots back to the 7th century and we have many notable buildings – Britannia House, Whiteladies and Springfield come immediately to mind. Dodderhill, however, can offer us something none of our three current sites have: a Roman fort! As someone who has always had a keen interest in the Classical world, this is hugely thrilling. To whet appetites, Historic England’s entry about the site begins: “The remains of Dodderhill Roman fort survive well despite some disturbance caused by continuous use and development of the area. Its prominent location will add to the understanding of Roman military strategy during the earliest period. In addition, its position above the salt springs and adjacent to the Roman road will provide information about Roman exploitation of the salt deposits in Salinae.” I am not sure how we top that exciting development!!!!! The eagle-eyed reader (and I know from my correspondence that delightfully, you are many in number) will have noticed my perhaps overly- liberal use of exclamation marks.

REPORT AGENDA ITEM 9 LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL HIGHWAYS FORUM FOR HARBOROUGH 7TH MARCH 2012 SCHOOL TRAVEL PLANS – UPDATE REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT AND TRANSPORT Introduction 1. To update Members of the Forum on the delivery of School Travel Plans. Background 2. The County Council has been working with schools to develop travel plans through successive Local Transport Plans (LTP) since April 2000. School Travel Plans (STP) aim to reduce the number of cars arriving at the school gate, by supporting initiatives, with schools, to improve the safety and convenience of non-car travel. 3. The Leicestershire County Council Scrutiny Review Panel on Home to School Transport made a number of recommendations in 2010. These included continued support for STPs, walking buses and opportunities for Councillors to get more involved, helping schools in their patch. The Council under the Education and Inspections Act 2006 continues to have a duty, to promote sustainable travel to school. Progress to Date 4. 83.75% of schools currently have a STP in place (21/12/2011). The remaining schools which are developing or have yet to commit to developing a STP, are found in Appendix A . 5. The County Council has continued to encourage the review of STP and that schools share their reviews, with us. A STP Review template and supporting guidance for schools has been developed. They can get this from the County Council’s website. In the past year, 9 schools have completed a review of their STP. Approximately 40 more, in development, are listed in Appendix B . 6. Schools have and continue to be offered programmes that can support their work to encourage more sustainable travel: • Approximately 216 Advisory 20 m.p.h.
