EXECUTIVE SUMMARY A. General Plan Description The mounting cost of disaster recovery in our nation during the past decade has engendered a renewed interest in uncovering effective ways to minimize our country’s hazard vulnerability. The Oceano Community Services District has joined a nationwide effort to develop a jurisdiction specific hazard mitigation plan. The goal of this local hazard mitigation plan is to arrive at practical, meaningful, attainable and cost-effective mitigation solutions to minimize the District’s vulnerability to identified hazards and ultimately reduce both human and financial losses subsequent to a disaster. After reviewing existing applicable plans, technical reports and historical data, in-depth risk assessments were performed to identify and evaluate
