Opening the exhibition, Prof. E. K. Sakyi, the Rector appealed to corporate and financial institutions to support the initiative of students and graduates of the industrial arts industry to enable them to establish businesses after the completion of their studies. He said the private sector had a great responsibility to support the growing and creative economy, since that support, especially for the Art industry would not be a wasteful venture, because there was enormous untapped creativity in the Ghanaian society which could effectively be made competitive in the modern world. He observed that the global economy was being driven by the use of knowledge in the industry which in itself is manifested in the form of creativity and innovation. As a result of this, there was the need to focus on this development tool as a nation, and also support the skillful students and graduates to showcase what they had even to the international level. Appreciating the works, Prof. Sakyi said 'the output within 18 months in an environment of scarcity of resources, was gratifying and as I can see, are very good products of high market value'. He commended Mr. Samuel Kwame (HoD) and his colleagues for a good work done. Dr. Noble Dzeblor, Dean of the Faculty said the faculty could contribute to the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) of the Polytechnic considerably, if provided with a production unit. 2nd National Sanitation, Food Hygiene and Safety Conference Held two-day National Conference on theme: The status, current practices and Sanitation, Food Hygiene and Safety policy options for enhancing sanitation, was held at Ho Technical University food hygiene and safety in Africa. These important personalities should be identified and acknowledged by the beneficiaries of their labor, and be given the due recognition. It is in light of this that Ho Polytechnic, now Ho Technical University, decided to label the names of her heroes and heroines on the various structures in honor of their contributions towards the success of the Institution . The main aim of this study is to create the awareness that three dimensional or relief sculpture, could be the appropriate ways of keeping visual records of renowned personalities, or important historical figures of an Institution, instead of only graphical representations of their names on buildings. The main tools used in this research were interviews and the internet to identify and ascertain the facts about the Ho Polytechnic's heroes and heroines. The study stressed the use of busts and relief sculptures to portray images of the heroes and heroines of the Ho Polytechnic which is backed by their concise histories.
