In its present form it is a nearly exhaustive guide to the published literature on the mineral resources, economic geology and areal geology of Bolivia. References pertaining to mineralogy, geochemistry, geophysics, stratigraphy, structural geology, and tectonics that are relevant to a study of Bolivian mineral resources are also included. An attempt has been made to include as much unpublished literature as possible, such a theses and company reports, but the compila­ tion of these is known to be incomplete. A number of references concerning the economic geology of south­ east Peru and northwest Argentina have been included as these areas contain the northern and southern extensions of the Bolivian metalliferous belts. Most published articles on Boli­ vian stratigraphy pertain to sedimentary units encountered in the hydrocarbon producing areas of the eastern foothills of the Bolivian Andes. These have not been included. The references included in this bibliography were compiled prin­ cipally from a number of published bibliographies, cited below, from the Bibliography and Index of Geology, published by the American Geological Institute, and from citations made in the published literature. The bibliography was compiled using the word processing program Lotus Manuscript version 2.1 which can search and sort by key words. A copy of the original file is available upon request from the Center for Inter-American Mineral Resource Investiga­ tions, 210 E. 7th St., Tucson, AZ 85705, USA. Historia de América II (Antropología de América) [email protected] Recibido: 9 de noviembre de 2007 Aceptado: 15 de noviembre de 2007 RESUME Este trabajo presenta una etnografía de los dos cerros tutelares de una comunidad de Nor Lípez (Potosí, Bolivia), atendiendo a su protagonismo en la tradición oral y en el ordenamiento del paisaje. En primer lugar se analizan distintos relatos que hablan del que denominaré «paisajismo mítico» de ambos cerros, remonta- do a un tiempo inmemorial y en relación con la civilización por parte del Inca de un paisaje antropomorfiza- do y en conflicto. Seguidamente, considerando las implicaciones espaciales del ritual de llamado de lluvia que anualmente se celebra en esta comunidad, se apuntan diferentes líneas a partir de las cuales defino la «ritualidad paisajística» desplegada en torno a estos dos cerros. Aceptado 29 de Marzo 2006 RESUMEN Este trabajo describe tramos de dos ramales del Qhapaqñan que comunican el desierto de Atacama (Región de Antofagasta, Chile) con el Altiplano de Lípez (Departamento Potosí, Bolivia). El primero de ellos, que se extien- de entre Licancabur y Laguna Chojllas, formaba parte de una vía que vinculaba el nodo inkaico de San Pedro de Atacama con los valles chichas y la Puna argentina. El segundo ingresa a Bolivia por el Portezuelo del Inca procedente de la cuenca del río Salado y se dirige directamente hacia la zona de Chiguana-Colcha K, que parece haber operado como eje del dominio Inka sobre el Altiplano de Lípez. Partiendo de estos datos, se discuten aspectos relacionados con la circulación de bienes, el aprovisionamiento de los contingentes en tránsito y las prácticas rituales asociadas a los pasos montañosos que atraviesa el camino. This paper describes segments of two branches of the Inka road that communicate the Atacama Desert (Antofagasta Region, Chile) and the Lípez Altiplano (Department of Potosi, Bolivia). The first, which extends between Licancabur and Laguna Chojllas, was part of a road that connected the Inka node of San Pedro de Atacama with the Chicha Valleys and the Argentine Puna. The second enters Bolivia through Portezuelo del Inca, coming from the Salado River basin, and heads directly toward Chiguana-Colcha K, an area that apparently served as the axis of Inka rule in the Lipez Altiplano.

Salvo algunos médanos movedizos, algunas cuencas de bañados secos y pantanos engañadores que la sequía prolongada le da aspecto de lagos amarillos; salvo uno que otro accidente imperceptible del terreno, la puna se presenta como una mesada regular, uniforme y pesadamente triste" (Debenedetti - 1930) INTRODUCCIÓN La percepción del arqueólogo argentino Salvador Debenedetti en 1930 sobre el altiplano jujeño es lo suficientemente elocuente para imaginar un páramo sin gente y sin vida, un lugar estático y desolador. Es verdad que las condiciones climáticas adversas pueden condicionar una primera aproximación o mirada al territorio, sin embargo, la puna ha sido un espacio habitado desde muy antiguo (10.000 a.e.) y con una alta movilidad poblacional. Se registran trabajos que tiene que ver con épocas tempranas o formativas (1000 a. e. al 700 d. C), las fechas entre el 700 y el 1000 d.e. abarcarían un Período Medio no muy bien entendido aún. Este trabajo intentará dar cuenta del estado actual del conocimiento prehispánico de la región, en el denominado Período de los Desarrollos Regionales o Tardío (1000-1430), antes del impacto inkaico.

Bolivia Abstract The Department of La Paz has the largest number of wild potato species (Solanum Section Petota Solanaceae) in Bolivia, some of which are rare and threatened by extinction. Solanum achacachense, S. candolleanum, S. circaeifolium, S. okadae, S. soestii and S. virgultorum were all searched for in their type localities and new areas. Isolated specimens of S. achacachense were found in its type localities, while S. candolleanum was found in low density populations. Solanum circaeifolium was also found as isolated specimens or in low density populations in its type localities, but also in new areas. Solanum soestii and S. okadae were found in small, isolated populations. No specimen of S. virgultorum was found at all. The majority of the wild species searched for suffered the attack of pathogenic fungi. Interviews with local farmers revealed the main factors negatively affecting these species to be loss of habitat through urbanization and the use of the land for agriculture and forestry.

The theoretical portion was held in the Auditorium of Telamayu (2 Days) and field trips (4 days) included visits to the sites of Choroma, Animas y Siete Suyos, Chorolque and Tasna. The instructors were Dr. Stewart Redwood (SEG 1992 F), Dr. Kevin B. Heather (SEG 1998 F) and Dr. Osvaldo Arce (SEG 2008 F). The course was sponsored by the Association of Geologists of Bolivia (CGB), The Stewart R. Wallace Fund from SEG, SEG Bolivian Student Chapter, San Cristobal Mining, Pan American Silver and Mining Corporation of Bolivia (COMIBOL).
