(ARDXC via GH - WWCR) CLANDESTINE RADIO STATIONS/ALGERIA Thanks to a tip of Christian Ratzer-AUT, Radio Nacional de la Republica Democratica de Sahara observed out-of-band channel 11320 kHz for relaying its medium wave programme of 1355 kHz, located in the ALG/MRC border region near Tindouf-ALG, approx. 0600-0800 and 1800-0058 UTC. Schedule on MW 1355 kHz has been rather varying 2037-2203 UTC, except on Thurs night extended to 1900-2303 UTC. All broadcast in Maghreb-Arabic and Spanish, ending with long National Anthem. Popular "Clandestine Stations List" by Finn Krone-DSWCI list this station on SW 11520 kHz, first observed on short wave in March 1993. Medium wave outlet appeared on Aug 21, 1979. Station announcing Amateur Radio (!) Worldwide Locator IL 56 in Western Sahara Territory. (CR, WB, FK) CZECH REPUBLIC In order to save money and energy, "Radiozurnal" Czech Radio Prague's first programme domestic service relay ceased using longwave Uherske Hradiste Topolna 270 kHz, 1500 kW, 0230-2300 UTC (but observed here Jan 1st to 3rd again!), and SW Litomysl Oborova 5930 kHz, 100 kW, 0500-2220 UTC. (RVI) FRANCE RFI Paris in French observed on odd 4902,5 kHz, a harmonic of 9805 kHz, scheduled 0500-0800 UTC to Ea/SoEaEUR. On Nov 25th, TDF France inaugurated first of twelve new 500 kW Thomson-CSF systems at Issoudun-C. Each of the twelve systems consist one most modern SW antenna revolving system (360 degrees) called ALLISS. Curtain antenna is 80 metres wide, 20 metres high. SW tx is placed in the foundation of the antenna tower(!), no expensive feeder lines are necessary. See picture copy on page 2 of WorldRadioTVHandbook '93. As such, many people have forgotten that the HF band can be used to support point to point or even networked connectivity over 10’s to 1000’s of miles using a minimal set of infrastructure. STEVENS Retired General Conference Worker/ Ponderer of Our Changing Times As promised in our last issue, we offer herewith its companion volume devoted to the pulpit ministry. The immediate emphasis falls within the time span extending from the second half of the 20th century up to the present time—in other words, the era of “modern” preaching. But we include, as is our usual practice, timeless counsel from the pen of inspiration. We daresay that if we polled our readers to suggest the single best sermon they ever heard, we would receive a dizzying variety of answers. Be assured, then, that your very favorite sermon is very likely not reprinted here. This is not to say—no, not at all—that we have thrown together a strictly arbitrary anthology of mediocre sermons or “filler” material in the present volume. On the contrary, each sermon has been carefully selected and endorsed by our editorial board. Considered individually, each addresses provocative, sometimes even sensitive, topics. Taken as a whole, they represent a wide spectrum of current trends and concerns—some highly alarming—among us as a people. The names of the speakers, for the most part, may be familiar to most of our readers. We would like to suggest, however, that each reader make a concerted effort to “listen” very attentively to the “spoken” word. See whether the Holy Spirit just now may be spreading a banquet table in the wilderness—a veritable feast in the midst of the prevailing spiritual famine (Amos 8:11 ).
