FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
DOOBIE BROTHERS TO HEADLINE EIU'S FAMILY WEEKEND
CHARLESTON -- Tickets are on sale to the general public for the Doobie
Brothers concert during Eastern Illinois University's Family Weekend, Oct. 11 -13.
Performances will be held at 6 and 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in Lantz Gymnasium.
The classic rock band was chosen to headline the weekend because they have
the ability to entertain both parents and students, according to David Milberg, director
of student life.
Tickets are $20 for floor seats and $15 for bleacher seats. For tickets, call
581 -5122.
The Doobie Brothers will be celebrating their 25th anniversary next year.
Between Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald and Patrick Simmons, the three Doobie
Brothers vocalists have been responsible for 27 chart hits since the band first burst
on the scene in 1972 with the rock classic, "Listen to the Music." One of the most
popular American rock bands of all time, some of the hits the Doobie Brothers are
known for include: "Jesus is Just Alright," "The Captain and Me," "Long Train
Running" and "China Grove."
