Having won back-to- back promotions in 2011/12 and 2012/13, Balham did the league and cup double in the Surrey South Eastern Combination in 2013/14. In 2014/15 Balham finished in a promotion position again, in the Surrey Elite Intermediate Football League, however promotion was denied due to Combined Counties League facility requirements not being met. Having moved to ground share with Cobham FC, in order to meet the facility requirements, Balham finished as runners up in the SEIFL in 2015/16 and as a result were promoted to Division One of the Combined Counties League for the 2016/17 season. The club had an exceptional first league campaign at Step 6, finishing in a promotion position for the sixth consecutive season and winning the London Senior Trophy. In 2017/18 the club had an equally exceptional season, finishing 5th at Step 5 in the Premier Division of the CCL and winning the London Senior Cup. 2019/20 will be the club’s third season in the top flight after flirting with ACTIVE WANDSWORTH AWARDS relegation in 2018/19. Having begun on Wimbledon Extension, before moving to Cobham, Balham are currently ground sharing with Colliers Wood United at their 2011, 2013, 2015 2011 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018 Wibbandune Stadium. • THE AMATEUR ERA (1897-1907) The
THE AMATEUR ERA (1897-1907) The founding of the club was the idea of Ralph Cole, a benefactor who was interested in the welfare of the local lads. The club, like many others, originally centred on a church; in this instance St Luke's Mission Church at the junction of Boulogne Road and Princess Road in Croydon. The inaugural meeting of the club was held in 1897 and it was attended by the above mentioned Ralph Cole together with H. Taylor, F. Worsfold Smith, Frank Chick, George Stockdale and A. Everett. The name of the club was chosen for the simple reason that St Luke's Mission was sited on ground that once formed part of what had been Croydon Common in earlier times. It was decided that the club would play in colours of gold and dark blue, although the next year saw a change to claret and white. George Stockdale was chosen as the club's first captain, with Frank Chick the club's first vice-captain. The club officials were Rev. C.A. Curgenven (Assistant Curate at Holy Saviour Church, to which St Luke's Mission was affiliated) as president and the above mentioned Frank Worsfold Smith as the honorary secretary. The fact that George Stockdale would have only been fourteen years old at the time evidences that this was very much a club for boys. This is the version of events set out in the club's handbook for the 1909-10 season, but contemporary records give cause to doubt the accuracy of this version. Firstly, the Holy Saviour parish magazines for 1897 make no mention of the club, nor do those of the years following.

Main Sponsor Umbro is a British sportswear and football equipment supplier based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The company is currently a subsidiary of Iconix Brand Group. Umbro designs, sources, and markets football-related apparel, footwear, and equipment. Its products are sold in over 90 countries worldwide. The company was founded by Harold Humphreys, along with his brother Wallace in a small workshop in Wilmslow, Cheshire, inspired by the growing interest in football witnessed nationwide. The name "Umbro" is a quasi-portmanteau inspired from Humphreys Brothers Clothing. Umbro's kit debut was in the 1934 FA Cup final, when both teams Manchester City and Portsmouth wore uniforms designed and manufactured by the company. Other teams supplied by Umbro during the 1930s and 1940s were Sheffield United, Preston North End, Manchester United and Blackpool. Umbro was the official sports manufacturer of the English FA Cup and official sponsor of The FA, being the exclusive supplier of balls to the body's leagues. In 1952, the British team at the Summer Olympics wore Umbro kits, tailored for the needs of their individual sports. Umbro would supply kits for the British Olympics team for the next 20 years. In 1957 Umbro entered the tennis market, producing sports clothing in collaboration with player Ted Tinling. This collaboration extended for three decades. Another sportsman who collaborated with Umbro was Manchester United manager Matt Busby, in 1959. That same year the company started to sell its junior boys' kits, a set of shirt, shorts and socks that would allow young players to wear the same look as their footballing idols.
