Youth SYL U14 League Winners 2018/19 LCSYFL U14 League Runners-Up 2018/19 U7 Boys SYL Invitation Cup Runners-Up 2018/19 Westside FC History SYL U13 League Runners-Up 2017/18 U18 Boys SYL Division Winners 2017/18 Westside FC was founded by Graham Holder, our current Chairman, in May 1996 and is based at LCSYFL U13 League Winners 2017/18 West Side Church in Wandsworth. Graham travelled to the USA in 1994 with Ambassadors in Sport to U7 Boys SYL Invitation Cup Winners 2017/18 coach and evangelise in San Jose, California during the 1994 World Cup. While he was there he had U12 Boys SYL Division Runners-Up 2016/17 a vision to form a Christian football club on his return to the UK. LCSYFL U16 League Winners 2014/15

In 1996 this happened. With the team only having 7 players, it joined Division 5 of the Kingston & LCSYFL U16 League Cup “Finalists” 2014/15 District League (KDL). By the start of the season, the team had 17 players mainly from the West Side U16 Boys AFA County Cup Runners-up 2013/14 LCSYFL U16 League Winners 2013/14 Church youth group. In this first season the team, player managed by Graham Holder, won KDL LCSYFL U16 League Cup Winners 2013/14 Division 5, the Tec Cup, and the Sportsmanship Cup and were runners-up in the League Junior Cup. LCSYFL U16 Charity Cup Winners 2013/14 Not a bad start and with Dave Doran scoring 55 goals. U15 Boys London FA County Cup Runners-up 2012/13 The club grew to have three adult mens teams in the KDL with brothers, friends and friends of friends LSYFL U15 League Winners 2012/13 joining. The 1st team progressed through the divisions of the KDL and in 1999/20 were Division 2 LSYFL U13 League Runners-up 2012/13 Champions and were promoted directly to the KDL Premier Division and won this the following season U18 Boys SYL Premier Elite Division Winners 2011/12 2000/01. LSYFL U14 KO Cup Winners 2011/12

The club decided to have a further season in the KDL Premier and apply for promotion to the Surrey LSYFL U14 League Winners 2011/12 South Eastern Combination Intermediate League (SSEC) the following season. Unfortunately, the U14 Boys London FA County Cup Winners 2011/12 plan went wrong when the team ended 3rd. Graham decided to take a gamble and transferred the U12 Boys London FA County Cup Runners-up 2011/12 team into the SSEC Junior 1 and it gained promotion to the Intermediate League in 2002/03 by LSYFL U12 KO Cup Runners-up 2011/12 LSYFL U16 Shield Winners 2011/12 winning the last game of the season against promotion rivals Warlingham. LSYFL U16 League Runners-up 2011/12 Graham Holder remained Manager until 2008/09 and after 12 years stepped down to manage the Res U16 Boys London FA County Cup Runners-up 2010/11 in SSEC Junior 1. His Assistant Manager, Steve Walters took over the job of 1st team manager. LSYFL U16 League Runners-up 2010/11 During those 12 years, the club won numerous trophies – see clubs honours page - including being LSYFL U15 KO Cup Winners 2010/11 FA Charter Standard National Adult Club of the Year 2005/06. LSYFL U15 League Runners-up 2010/11 Steve Walters led the first team to the SSEC Intermediate Division 2 title in 2014/15 and Division 1 the LSYFL U16 KO Cup Winners 2009/10 following season gaining promotion to the Surrey Elite League and we switched to playing our home Boys U14 AFA Cup Winners 2009/10 games at AFC Croydon. In 2018/19 we finished 3rd and gained promotion to Step 6 of the National LSYFL U14 League Runners-up 2009/10 Football Structure and entered the Combined Counties Division 1. We moved to ground share with U16 Boys London FA County Cup Winners 2008/09 Chessington and Hook United and despite a relatively good start, our season like many others was LSYFL U16 League Runners-up 2008/09 curtailed by COVID -19. We are starting the 2020/21 season ground sharing at Colliers Wood United Boys U13 AFA Cup Runners-up 2008/09 FC. LSYFL U15 Sporting Spirit Award 2008/09 LSYFL U15 KO Cup Winners 2008/09 Also, in 2004, the club became the first Christian team to take a Mission Tour to Senegal in West LSYFL U14 Sporting Spirit Award 2007/08 Africa. A great adventure, two years of planning and a difficult one for a Christian team in a mainly LSYFL U14 KO Cup Winners 2007/08 Muslim country. The tour was a great success and we returned in 2007 with an even more gruelling LSYFL U14 League Runners-up 2007/08 schedule of matches, coaching and Christian evangelism. There were some very unusual pitches and Surrey County Girls U16 Prem Division Sportsmanship Winners 2007/08 football in the jungle is a real experience! We also have connections with Romania and Sierra Leone. Girls U16 London County Cup Runners-up 2007/08 We believe that our original vision to be a multi team club has blossomed over the years since 1996. Girls U16 AFA Cup Runners-up 2007/08 The club has expanded greatly since starting youth and girls’ football in 2002. Under the overall LSYFL U13 Sporting Spirit Award 2006/07 control of Jane Walters, we now have over 30 youth boys teams from U7 to U18 with teams playing LSYFL U12 League Runners-up 2005/06 on both Saturday and Sunday and a ladies and two girls teams (U14 and U10). All these teams have LSYFL U12 League KO Cup Runners-up 2005/06 also won numerous trophies across all levels of the club – please see the honours list in our LSYFL U12 Walter Perry Cup Winners 2005/06 programmes. The Chairman’s view

Hello everyone and welcome to season 20/21, our second in the CCL.

I am very pleased that I can actually say that, because with COVD -19 hanging over us, there was a time when we were all wondering whether it might happen and here we are playing ahead of the CLUB HONOURS Premier Division and having spectators. All those fans missing football should come and see our Surrey FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 matches and those in the CCL generally. We must however, ensure that we follow all the rules to South East of England FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2005, 2006, 2007 keep us safe and playing, so I ask you all to do your bit towards this. Redhill have already had FA National Charter Standard Club of the Year 2006 someone test positive and the whole club is having to quarantine. Let’s make sure that this does not happen to us. Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Developing Community Sports’ Award 2006 Other than our five pre-season friendlies, this strange season has started with a massive bang for Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity’ Award Westside FC. Our first match of the season turned out to be in the FA Cup! A new chapter of Jane Walters, Westside FC 2015 Westside FC history was written on Tuesday evening when we travelled to Billingshurst to play in the Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity’ Award Extra Preliminary Round. When we started on a park pitch in Wandsworth 24 years ago who would Dave Crilly, Westside FC 2016 have dreamt that Westside would be in the FA Cup and we had five of the players from that first ever match at the game on Tuesday – myself, Steve Walter s, Alex Dowdeswell and Paul and Peter Cox. Adult Men Two more pieces of history were also written on Tuesday when Sian Forsythe scored our first ever FA Step 6 Promotion to Combined Counties League 2018/19 Cup goal and then when we won the match 2-0 with Tevon Webster getting our second goal which Step 7 Promotion to Surrey Elite Intermediate League 2015/16 moves us into the Preliminary Round at home to Chatham Town next Saturday here at Wibbandune.

Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate Division 1 Champions 2015/16 Today we are playing our first league game at our new home, Wibbandune Sports Ground. It is an Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate Div 2 Champions 2014/15 excellent facility and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all at Colliers Wood United for the Surrey South Eastern Combination Geoff Ellis Senior Shield Runner-up 2014/15 opportunity to ground share with them. We hope it will be a fruitful partnership for all concerned. Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Division 4 Sportsmanship Winners 2013/14 We also welcome the Players, Officials and Supporters of Sandhurst Town who we are playing for the Surrey South Eastern Combination League Junior Cup Runner-up 2013/14 first time as last season we did not meet because of the season being stopped. This afternoon also Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Division 4 Sportsmanship Winners 2012/13 welcome our referee, William Douglas and his two Assistants, Steven Tyler and Roger Wells and I am Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate Div 2 Sportsmanship Winners 2007/08 sure that they will make a great contribution to the enjoyment of the match without needing the Wandsworth Borough’s ‘Developing Community Sports’ Award 2006 assistance of VAR which I think is still causing controversy in the professional game! Kingston & District League Division 5 Runners-up 2003/04 Surrey South Eastern Combination Junior Division 1, Runners-up 2002/03 Those who read my comments regularly last season will know, I cannot finish these notes without a Surrey South Eastern Combination Geoff Ellis Premier Shield Runners-up 2002/03 reference to God who provides the talent that enables both our players and those of our opponents to Kingston & District League Intermediate Shield Winners 2002/03 play this great game. It is not only players at our level who have faith in God but those in the Kingston & District League Division 4, Runners-up 2002/03 Premiership as well. Premiership winner Roberto Firmino of Liverpool committed himself to God by Kingston & District League Premier Division Champions 2000/01 being Baptised in the swimming pool at his house. He was helped to reach this decision by his friend Allison and the Cross – Equals – Love organisation connected to Hillsong Church. Roberto said “I Kingston & District League Division 2 Champions 1999/2000 gave you my failures and victories I will give you too but my greatest title is your love Jesus. Jesus is Kingston & District League Sportsmanship Cup Winners 1999/2000 & 1996/97 love, just believe it and feel the Holy Spirit”. Kingston & District League Division 5 Champions 1996/97 May God Bless you all, players and spectators.

Ladies Please enjoy our hospitality and the game which hopefully is played in a way that is exciting, sporting and enjoyable. Greater London Regional Women’s League Division 3 Champions 2006/07 Greater London Regional Women’s League Division 4 West Runners-up 2004/5 Graham Holder

Review of Westside 1st Team Pre-Season Friendlies Action from our FA Cup Tie at Billingshurst By Graham (Scoop) Holder (Photos reproduced by kind permission of Billingshurst FC)

Saturday 1 August 2020 - Lingfield 0-1 Westside - Played at Felbridge FC On a warm day and on a very bumpy and hard pitch we played our first competitive friendly of a season which we hope might start on 5 September. We started the better of the two teams with Westside returnee Zak Guest starting up front. We produced a few chances in the first half but the score remained 0-0 mainly due to their keeper who pulled off some very good saves. Our defence with Josh Walters in fine form held firm and Gio had very little to do. For the second half, we started another Westside returnee, Nathan Turner, up front who showed in a few little spurts that he still has pace and power in the air. Tom Stanley came on at right back and had a very steady game against some fast forwards. However, our Man of the Match was Ryan Bell playing his first game for us who controlled the mid-field with his accurate passing and positional skill. He was closely followed by Josh Walters and Szyrus Shokoya who must have covered every blade of grass. Our winning goal came 5 minutes from the end when Ayman Dahdouh's free kick from the left touchline went in off the underside of the bar.. WestsideTeam: Giordano Zabotti; Chris Oguniana, Zak Johnson-Read, Josh Walters, John Jupp, Michael Tia, Sian Forsythe, Ayman Dahdouh, Nathan Hunter-Moses, Tyrell Stone, Szyrus Shakoya, Tom Stanley, Tevon Webster, Ryan Bell, Nathan Turner & Zak Guest.

Saturday 8 August 2020 - Colliers Wood United 0-3 Westside This was our second warm-up match of the season and our first at our new home, Wibbandune, even though we were away because we were playing our landlords, Colliers Wood United!! The ground and the pitch was in excellent condition and we are very happy to be ground sharing there. Even more so because of the result. We were without both our keeper, Giordano and last weeks Man of the Match, Ryan, but we had Alex making his main debut. We started fast and were in full control early on with Tevon scoring from close range in the 10th minute after other players shots were blocked. Colliers Wood had a shot well saved by Matt but other than a few corners we were totally in control with Sian causing their defence real trouble and Ayman, Roy and Szyrus controlling the midfield. Just before half time we went 2-0 up when Tevon cut in from the right and slotted the ball into the far corner of the net Several changes were made at half time with Zak G replacing Nathan T, Alex for Chris, Keiran for John, Michael for Sian, Tyrell for Szyrus and another débutante Sammy for Roy. However we still maintained our control on the game with Colliers Wood only having one real chance which was turned over the bar by Matt. After an hour, Zak G ran onto a fine pass from Alex and crashed a right foot shot past their keeper, making it. 3-0, the final score and a well deserved result against our new landlords. Westside Squad - Matt, Chris, Josh, John, Zak J, Ayman, Szyrus, Roy, Sian, Nathan T, Tevon, Alex, Keiran, Zak G, Michael, Sammy and Tyrell.

Saturday 15 August 2020 AFC Croydon Athletic 1-1 Westside After three matches against Step 5 sides we remain unbeaten and were very close to keeping a 100% record. On a very hard and bumpy pitch, we showed great energy and physical strength against a skilful Croydon team. We had Jay available for the first time this season and Nathan H and Ryan B back after missing last week’s match at Colliers Wood. The game also gave us the opportunity to try a couple of different formations both of which went well. In the first half, we hit the post three times but the scored remained 0-0 at half time. In the second half we introduced Tevon, Michael and Sian up front playing 4-3-3 and Ryan B at left back and other Ryan in front of the back four and it was him who played a long ball over the Croydon defence for Tevon to slot it past their keeper. Following a scramble for the ball on the edge of the Croydon box the ball dropped to Chris but his shot was well saved by the substitute keeper. We were still in command but with eight minutes left the ball broke to one of their players just inside our area and he powered it past Gio. Still a good result from which came plenty of positives for the season. Westside squad: Gio ,Chris, Zak J, Josh, John, Michael, Sian, Ayman, Nathan H, Jay, Szyrus, Roy, Tevon, Ryan B, Ryan, Nathan T and Sammy G www.westsidefc.org.uk

Action from our FA Cup Tie at Billingshurst Saturday 22 August 2020 - Westside 4-2 AFC Cubo This was an interesting game against our old Elite League rivals, AFC Cubo, who we (Photos reproduced by kind permission of Billingshurst FC) have never beaten in a competitive match. We started really well with Szyrus and Ryan B controlling the mid-field and Sian and Tevon causing problems on the flanks. After missing a few close range chances we finally took the lead in the 15 minute, when Zak G headed a shot come cross into an empty net. We went further ahead a few minutes later when Szyrus beat the right back and lobbed their keeper. We continued to play some good football and after an excellent passage of sharp passing, Zak G was left one on one with their keeper and chipped the ball over him into the net to put us 3-0 ahead. With only a couple of minutes left in the first half we lost the ball on the edge of our area and their No 9 drove the ball into the far corner - 3-1 at half time. We made a number of changes for the second have with Dan coming on a centre back for his Westside debut. Unfortunately the number of changes caused the intensity of our play to drop slightly and they pulled another goal back after twenty minutes. However, we continued to press and with ten minutes left Michael cut into their bow only to be brought down. Nathan sent the keeper the wrong way and our first win over Cubo was confirmed 4-2. Saturday 29 August 2020 - Westside 3-1 Lyne This was our final pre-season game before we play for the first time in the FA Cup next Tuesday. We faced a strong and well organised side in Lyne from the Surrey Elite League who probably would have been in the CCL this season if last season had finished. They kicked off and within a minute a stray pass from their right back put Zak G clear but his strong shot was turned away by their keeper. We were in control for the first 20 minutes but Lyne gradually fought their way back into the match and a clever run and turn by their centre forward saw Gio make a great save from a goal bound shot. With 15 minutes of the half left, a long ball found Szyrus on the back of their defender who failed to head the ball and Szyrus burst past him and shot into the net past the onrushing

keeper to make it 1-0. We made several changes at the start of the second half and the "new" line up played

really well with Jay leading the line and making great runs, one of which led to him laying on a tap in for Tevon. Our pressure kept us on the attack and Tevon added a further goal to put us 3-0 up. Lyne however kept pushing forward and scored a consolation goal with a low shot into the far corner of our net.

Final score 3-1 to complete an unbeaten 5 game pre-season programme.
