The only building on the site was refurbished to allow use as a bar and clubhouse on the ground floor and changing rooms on the upper one. Most of this work was carried out or supervised by the Chairman Dave Reader. Much work was also done to the playing area to provide playable pitches for Bedfont Sports on Saturdays and Bedfont Sunday, one of the oldest Sunday teams in Middlesex, on Sundays. To give the Club a junior section Bedfont Eagles, formed in 1978,joined the two adult Clubs a short time later. Bedfont Sports started in the Hounslow and District League for two seasons and then joined the Middlesex County Football League, this being a feeder League to Step 5. More work was needed to enable the team to play in the Premier Division of the MCFL to which they gained promotion in 2004/05. After many ups and downs promotion was finally achieved to the Combined Counties Reserve Division in season 2008/09. During this time application were made to the F A and the Football Foundation for funds to enable Flood Lights and a new Dressing Room block to be built together with a 3G five a side pitch. This finally materialised in 2010/11to give the state-of-the-art complex now available at Bedfont Sports. In the Combined Counties League Bedfont gained promotion to the Premier Division in season 2011/12 and have spent the past two seasons consolidating that position. Permanent fencing now surrounds the ground and the erection of a 150-seater stand has been installed. Bedfont Sports is a true Community Club catering for 22 Junior Teams, 2 U18 youth teams, 3 Men's Sunday teams and our senior 1' 1 team. The Youth Section is particularly vibrant playing in the Ryman Youth and Allied counties Youth Leagues and having won the Combined Counties under 18 Cup 4 times in the last 5 seasons also we are currently the holders of the Under 15s Middlesex County cups. Players from the Youth section make the step up to adult football, at least 8 from that section being regulars in the 1st team at present. A successful kick boxing club use the facilities together with a boxing club, a rugby team and three darts teams. The bar area has been recently refurbished as a Sports bar with televisions on all walls. We are very proud that our Youth teams have been home-grown from Bedfont Eagles and with some real talent coming through this will continue for years to come. In 2018 Bedfont Sports won promotion into the Isthmian League, Step 4 in The FA Football Pyramid. • THE AMATEUR ERA (1897-1907) The
THE AMATEUR ERA (1897-1907) The founding of the club was the idea of Ralph Cole, a benefactor who was interested in the welfare of the local lads. The club, like many others, originally centred on a church; in this instance St Luke's Mission Church at the junction of Boulogne Road and Princess Road in Croydon. The inaugural meeting of the club was held in 1897 and it was attended by the above mentioned Ralph Cole together with H. Taylor, F. Worsfold Smith, Frank Chick, George Stockdale and A. Everett. The name of the club was chosen for the simple reason that St Luke's Mission was sited on ground that once formed part of what had been Croydon Common in earlier times. It was decided that the club would play in colours of gold and dark blue, although the next year saw a change to claret and white. George Stockdale was chosen as the club's first captain, with Frank Chick the club's first vice-captain. The club officials were Rev. C.A. Curgenven (Assistant Curate at Holy Saviour Church, to which St Luke's Mission was affiliated) as president and the above mentioned Frank Worsfold Smith as the honorary secretary. The fact that George Stockdale would have only been fourteen years old at the time evidences that this was very much a club for boys. This is the version of events set out in the club's handbook for the 1909-10 season, but contemporary records give cause to doubt the accuracy of this version. Firstly, the Holy Saviour parish magazines for 1897 make no mention of the club, nor do those of the years following.

/margatefootballclub /margate_fc /margate_fc GATE TV www.margate-fc.com #TimeForHeroes Tuesday 8th October 2019 MARGATE FC v LEATHERHEAD FC Kick Off—7:45pm 2 Welcome It has only been a couple of days since Jay and the players pulled off another emphatic win in the Emirates FA Cup beating Salisbury FC 4-2 in their back yard to add our name to the 4th round draw. Celebrations ran long into the night for the travelling Gate supporters and even the players managed to unwind for a couple of hours on the coach ride back to Kent. But now our attention turns back to the BetVictor Isthmian Premier league, and the visit of tonight’s opponents, Leatherhead. We found out yesterday that our opponents in the 4th Qualifying Rd will be Oxford City, with the Gate travelling to Court Place Farm on Saturday 19th October. Full details will follow in due course as we continue our adventure in the Emirates FA Cup. The fixture list is heavily congested in October and we haven’t even added in the FA Trophy yet, but the players, buoyed from the FA Cup win, the addition of centre back George Essuman and key players returning from injury, are ready for the challenge of Nikki Bull’s Leatherhead side who recorded a much needed 3-0 victory over Cheshunt on Saturday, lifting them out of the relegation zone. Following that we head to White Heart Lane to play the lesser known but in better form local club Haringey Borough, they also recorded a victory (1-0 v Cray) on Saturday and will prove another stern test for Jay and his young charges.

3 CHERRY RED RECORDS | COMBINED COUNTIES LEAGUE | PREMIER DIVISION 2019-20 Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Knights Community Stadium for this evenings Specsaver Surrey Senior Cup 1st Round tie. We would like to welcome tonights opponents Westfield FC and hope their players, sup- porters and officials enjoy their stay with us this evening. We would also like to welcome this evenings match officials, referee Mr Shaun Farrer and his assistants Mr Karl Parker and Mr Calum Edgcombe, and we hope they also enjoy their stay with us this evening. First up, an apology, due to being swamped at work this is only a small, online only pro- gramme. It is not something we like doing, or want to do as a regular thing, but at the mo- ment, it is the best we can do. Also doesn’t help doing a load of work, and then then having it not saving!! After the thrills of Saturday’s win over Lancing, where a Phil Page goal propelled us into the Fourth Round of the FA Vase and a new years trip to Christchurch (Dorset, not the largest city on the South island of New Zealand, although that would be fun), we are back in cup action. Over the years the Surrey Senior Cup has not been good to us, with recent defeats against Sutton Utd 2-0, and prior to that penalty shoot out losses to both Epsom & Ewell and Dorking Wanderers. Westfield are having another good season in the BetVictor South Cen- tral division, and currently lie in 6th position, and looking good for an- other tilt at promotion.
