    COUNTY Record of Protected Structures 2016 – 2022 WICKLOW COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Comhairle Contae Chill Mhantáin DECEMBER 2016 Wicklow County Council - Record of Protected Structures Each development plan must include policy objectives to protect structures or parts of structures of special interest within its functional area under Section 10 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000. The primary means of achieving this objective is for the planning authority to compile and maintain a record of protected structures to be included in the development plan. A planning authority is obliged to include in the Record of Protected Structures every structure which, in its opinion, is of special architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical interest. A ‘protected structure’ is defined as any structure or specified part of a structure, which is included in the Record of Protected Structures. A structure is defined by the Planning and Development Act, 2000 as ‘any building, structure, excavation, or other thing constructed or made on, in or under any land, or any part of a structure’. In relation to a protected structure, the meaning of the term ‘structure’ is expanded to include: (a) the interior of the structure; (b) the land lying within the curtilage of the structure; (c) any other structures lying within that curtilage and their interiors, and (d) all fixtures and features which form part of the interior or exterior of the above structures. Wicklow 2013-2015 Using the sociodemographic profile/audit of services, national and local information sources Subgroup looked specifically at Outcome Area One: Healthy both Physically and Mentally Focus on the area of health Increasing awareness of the change in patterns in the way that children play and spend their free time A lot of research to suggest that these changes have a detrimental effect on children’s development, both physically and mentally. There are a number of measures that can be taken to promote and facilitate children’s free play, involving a number of agencies.     Caring for Carers Supports & Services Saint Joseph’s Shankill Dedicated to Dementia Care SUPPORTS AND SERVICES AVAILABLE In this publication we have tried to identify resources and supports in the area surrounding Saint Joseph’s Shankill. We have included contact details for local HSE services and local support groups and organisations that we feel may be useful for you to have in your role as a carer for someone living with dementia. The HSE provides a range of services and support that can assist people living with dementia and their family and carers. Health Services in the community are delivered via the Primary Care Teams (PCT) and are responsible for organising and delivering primary health care for the local population. The Primary Care Team is made up of GP’s, Psychologists, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers. It is important to be linked with your Primary Care Team as they will organise an assessment of the person living with dementia. The aim of the Primary Care Team is to provide primary care services that are accessible, integrated, of a high quality and which meet the needs of the local population. There is a network of other services available to support the team including Podiatry, Area Medical Officers, Community Welfare, Dental, Ophthalmology and Mental Health. The Primary Care Team members work in partnership with the Department of Medicine for the Elderly and Psychiatry of Later Life in the acute hospitals. Your Public Health Nurse is a key contact in the local health centre. They can help you access services such as home help, day care and respite services.
