The Elephant Trust offers grants to artists and for new, innovative visual arts projects based in the UK. The Trust's aim is to enable artists and those presenting their work, to undertake and complete projects when confronted by lack of funds. The Trust supports projects that develop and improve the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the fine arts. Priority is now being given to artists and small organisations and galleries who should submit well argued, imaginative proposals for making or producing new work or exhibitions.

Arts Festivals are not supported.

The Trust normally awards grants of up to £2,000 but larger grants may be considered.

Henry Moore Foundation

Deadlines: 28 November 2012 (for 23 January 2013)

The Foundation supports UK organisations, institutions, museums and galleries focussing on aspects of the arts in which Henry Moore himself was engaged e.g. sculpture, drawing and print-making.

Ideas Tap

Deadlines: Specific for each type of Fund

Ideas Tap is a creative network and funding body for emerging arts talent. They are a not-for-profit organisation, bringing creative people together and offering cash funding, opportunities and a portfolio to showcase work. The Funds are broken down into parts:-

Ideas Fund Innovators Open all year with four deadlines for submission, offering £1,000 for projects from any creative discipline, e.g. performances, photography, films.

Ideas Fund Green Open in the spring for 6 weeks, celebrating creative environmental projects including through art. Awards of £5,000 are offered.

Ideas Fund Edinburgh Open for 6 weeks, from October, provides £10,000 each to two winning companies, to take a show to the world’s largest arts festival.

Ideas Fund Shorts Open for 6 weeks from February, offering young filmmakers £5,000 to create a 5 minute short film e.g. documentary, trailer for features, music video, fashion, etc.

Top Up Fund Open in the spring for 6 weeks, celebrating creative environmental projects.

Music Funding for Individuals Organisations & Groups

Deadline: 4th February 2013

The Performing Rights Society (PRS) for Music Foundation, the UK's leading funder of new music across all genres, has announced that its funding programme for individuals, organisations and groups is open for applications. Funding is available to any individual or not-for-profit organisation whose project or programme fits with all three of the PRS’s funding priorities, these are to:

 support the creation and performance of outstanding new music in any genre;  develop artists to their full potential;

Through this programme individuals as well as bands; ensembles; collectives; charities; local authority and schools; etc. can apply for grants of up to £25,000 (£5,000 for first time applicants).

Previous projects funded include:

Audioactive 2: a registered charity working to challenge disadvantage and enhance the development of children and young people by providing high quality creative and musical experiences throughout the South East.

Africa Express: This involved 100 of the top artists from Africa and the West touring Britain by train with short shows on station platforms, market towns, town halls, schools and car parks.

Strategic Touring Programme – Arts Council

Deadline: 31 January 2013

The £45 million programme is designed to encourage collaboration between organisations so that more people across England experience and are inspired by the arts.

Projects over £10,000 are eligible for funding provided they take place over a maximum of 3 years and at least 10% of total costs comes from other sources.

Theatres Protection Fund

The Fund’s Small Grants Scheme targets theatres run by charities and not- for-profit groups, which can demonstrate the value that capital improvements to their theatres would make to their work with local communities.

Children and Young People

Alec Dickson Trust

Grants up to £500 are available in the applicant’s local area involving local people and demonstrating they can enhance the lives of others, particularly those most marginalised in society.

Preference is given to supporting innovative projects from individuals aged 30 and under, and from small groups of young people in the UK. Recipients will need to report on how support was used and helped their project.

Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust

The Trust funds projects giving disadvantaged young people the chance to experience and develop an interest in the UK great outdoors. The Fund does not support one-off residential trips, foreign trips or capital expenditure.

Dickie Bird Foundation

Deadline: 30th November 2012

The Foundation assists young people (under 18 yrs of age) to participate in the sport of their choice irrespective of their social circumstances thereby improving their chances both inside and outside sport.

Eligible for funding examples: shorts, shirts, footwear, equipment, travel in the UK. Applicants will need to prove their circumstances prevent them from raising the necessary finance through any other means.

Equitable Charitable Trust

This Trust is an educational charity making grants between £3,000 - £30,000, for 1-3 years, to projects for children and young people (under 25 years of age), who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or are disabled.

Current priorities for such children and young people are:

 education projects or services supporting learning and development in the UK;  formal education projects in the UK, which support delivery of the National Curriculum (i.e. curriculum enrichment projects) or which deliver accredited vocational learning that will increase employability;  education projects that will increase participation in, or improve the quality of education, in developing countries, provided applicant is a UK registered charity.

Nominet Trust Launches New £2 Million Digital Edge Programme (UK)

Deadline: 12th December, 2012

The Nominet Trust has announced that it is inviting applications for funding through its new £2 million Digital Edge programme. Through the programme, organisations can apply for grants to fund projects that address key challenges faced by young people through the innovative uses of digital technologies - challenges such as high unemployment, social exclusion and low political engagement etc.

Organisations that can apply for funding include:

 not-for-profits organisation; schools, PTAs, universities or other educational establishments;  statutory bodies e.g. local authorities;  social enterprises;  and other grant-making bodies to make awards on behalf of the Nominet Trust. There is no upper or lower funding limit as the Trust likes to encourage applicants to be realistic about what they need to achieve their project objectives.

Peter Cruddas Foundation

The Foundation gives priority to charitable programmes designed to help disadvantaged young people to pursue their education (including vocational)

True Colours Trust

The Trust offers small grants (up to £10,000) usually for one-off purposes, to help small, local organisations develop and deliver programmes for disabled children, their siblings and families.

Of particular interest are:

 hydrotherapy pools;  multi-sensory rooms;  mini-buses;  young carers projects;  sibling projects;  bereavement support.

Variety Youth Club Programme

The Club believes that a key way to help disadvantaged youngsters achieve their ambitions, and keep them from resorting to crime, etc, is through supporting youth clubs and similar community projects.

Young Persons Volunteering Fund Deadline: 2nd January 2013

Through this fund, the SITA Trust can provide grants of up to £10,000 for volunteering projects owned by 14-25 year olds. This fund has been created to assist young people aged 14-25 to volunteer their time to create or enhance facilities that can be enjoyed by the wider community. SITA Trust can provide funding towards the resources required by young volunteers to transform a derelict piece of land into a community green space or give a local community centre a much needed 'make-over'. Funding can be sought to provide necessary equipment such as tools, paint, plants, fencing and materials.

To be eligible applicants must be able to demonstrate that young people will be fully involved in the design and development of the project and projects must be compliant with the rules of the Landfill Communities Fund.

Youth Music Grants Deadline: 27 March 2013

Youth Music, the UK's largest children's music charity provides grants of between £5,000 and £30,000 to support music-making activities for children and young people, especially young people in challenging circumstances, such as:

 Mental health issues  Special educational needs  Physical disability  Rural isolation  Economic deprivation.

Youth Music will fund non profit-making organisations that are committed to music-making activities for children and young people up to 18 (or up to 25 if they have special educational needs, disabilities or are in detention).

Youth Music aims to support music making principally in out of school hours such as during weekends, holidays as well as in breakfast and after schools clubs. Youth Music understands that programmes may need to begin in school hours especially if the proposal involves encouraging first time participation in music. To help with this, Youth Music will consider applications for programmes where up to 25% of the time is spent in school hours. The proposed programme should aim to encourage children and

Community Buildings and Amenities

B&Q Waste Donation Scheme

B&Q operates a waste donation scheme through all stores, allowing donations of waste materials, e.g. slightly damaged tins of pain, off-cuts of timber, odd rolls of wallpaper, end of range materials, to community groups, charities and schools.

For health and safety reasons, no electrical, petrol or gas items may be donated.

Co-ordinated in-store, a Waste Donation Form is on file for interested groups. All donation forms must be signed by a representative of the group and no donations may be re-sold.

Funds support churches, religious charities, charities preserving UK heritage, theological colleges, schools promoting the Christian religion, and those concerned with the disadvantaged and disabled. Applications to detail:

Churchcare Deadlines: see website for different funds

The Cathedral and Church Building Division (which supports both the Church Building Council and the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England) administers grant schemes supporting PCCs, Chapters and Friends groups to conserve churches, cathedrals and their historic contents –furnishing, artworks and fabrics.

Greater churches may be eligible for the Cathedral Amenities Fund grant scheme.

Cathedral Chapters can apply for grants from the English Cathedrals Repair Fund or the Cathedral Amenities Fund.

Applications for grants for completed or already commenced work, cannot be considered.

“Carers Can” Programme Opens for Applications Deadline: 9th November, 2012

The Carers Trust has announced the launch of the second funding round for the Young Carers Can Programme. The programme is open to any Third Sector/not for profit organisation that wishes to provide support activities for young carers across the UK. Disability Sport and Play

The Lord's Taverners has announced that its Disability Sport and Play programme is expected to re-open for applications on the 1st January 2013. The Lord's Taverners is one of the UK's leading Youth Sports and Disability Charities and Official Charity of Recreational Cricket. Through the Disability Sports and Play programme funding will be available to schools, clubs and other organisations which cater for youngsters under the age of 25 years with a physical and or learning disability. Grants will be awarded for sensory, soft play and outdoor play equipment.

Grants do not generally exceed £5,000.

Healthy Hearts Grants Deadline: 28th February, 2013

Heart Research UK has announced the next funding round, under its Healthy Heart Grants Scheme, will open early January 2013.

Healthy Heart Grants support innovative projects designed to promote heart health and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to community groups, voluntary organisations and researchers who are spreading the healthy heart message.

The types of projects supported in the past have included:

 Watford and District YMCA which received funding to work with local schools to encourage children to make healthy lifestyle choices through games and activities.  The Foresight Project in Grimsby which encourages visually impaired people to take regular exercise using tandem bicycles.

There are two application rounds per year. Applications are only accepted during January and February for the May round of grants and July and August for grants awarded in November, each year.

The Cathedral and Church Building Division (which supports both the Church Building Council and the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England) administers grant schemes supporting PCCs, Chapters and Friends groups to conserve churches, cathedrals and their historic contents –furnishing, artworks and fabrics.

English Heritage – Historic buildings, monuments and designed landscapes

Deadline: for +£2000,000 - by 31 January 2013.

Grants available for urgent repair and conservation, required within 2 years to prevent significant loss or damage. All applications are assessed against English Heritage’s National and Regional Priorities and are handled by the regional offices (see website below).

Conditions of the grant:

 the public can access the completed work;

National Heritage Memorial Fund

The Fund provides grants to help with the acquisition, preservation and maintenance of land, buildings, works of fine and decorative art, museum collections, archives, manuscripts, items of transport and industrial history, etc., which are of outstanding importance to the national heritage, and are under threat of loss or damage or relate to the original purpose of the Fund – to commemorate those who gave their lives.

Charities, voluntary and public and not-for-profit organisations may apply for grants.

Applications for projects such as revenue funding, daily running costs, payroll staff, research/development, general furniture and fittings, will not be considered.

Arthur Rank Centre – Computers for Rural People

To encourage people living in rural areas to appreciate the opportunities provided by e-mail and internet, the Arthur Rank Centre has set up the “Computers for Rural People” to provide computers at very low cost to:

 people retired or approaching retirement;  a very busy person, trying to organise things by telephone and letter;  assist school-children with their homework.

The Centre has arranged with the global charity Oasis, to supply re- furbished computers at charity prices. Applicants are requested to make voluntary donations of £12 minimum, to the Centre, to cover costs and help the charity’s charitable work.

Microsoft aims to help 500,000 people into employment by giving them access to vital IT skills over the next 3 years. A major component is their NFO Programme providing resources to UK registered charities with an employability programme.

Homelessness Transition Fund Launches Future Ready Fund The Homelessness Transition Fund has announced the launch of its new Future Ready fund. The aim of the Future Ready Fund is “To protect and enhance essential and strategically critical services for single homeless people and support them in the transition to becoming sustainable”.

Big Society Capital has launched a £600 million fund to finance grassroots social projects run by charities and community groups which can prove they are able to repay an investment through the income they generate.

The Lord's Taverners has announced that it’s Disability Sport and Play programme is expected to re-open for applications on the 1st January, 2013. The Lord's Taverners is one of the UK's leading Youth Sports and Disability Charities and Official Charity of Recreational Cricket. Through the Disability Sports and Play programme funding will be available to schools, clubs and other organisations which cater for youngsters under the age of 25 years with a physical and or learning disability. Grants will be awarded for sensory, soft play and outdoor play equipment.

Sport England – Get healthy, get into sport

Sport England’s Youth and Community Strategy (2012 – 2017) is to encourage more people to participate in sport once a week, especially those who are the least active, to produce the greatest potential health benefit.

Equitable Charitable Trust

This Trust is an educational charity making grants, between £3,000 - £30,000, for 1-3 years, to projects for children and young people (under 25 years of age), who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or are disabled.

Freemasons’ Grand Charity – Non-Masonic Grants

Hilton in the Community Foundation Grants (UK)

Santander Foundation

Grants up to £10,000 can be awarded anywhere in the UK. All funding is for one off donations. No multi-year funding is offered.

The Foundation has two grants programmes to help disadvantaged people in the UK:

1. Santander Community Plus – grants up to £5,000 to small local UK charities or local projects of national charities – funds to cover salaries, equipment, materials.

Santander Launches Community Plus Fund

Following the launch, in September, of a new £250,000 pilot fund for charities in the South West, Santander Foundation has announced the launch of a new £1.23 million Community Plus fund to support charities helping local disadvantaged people across the UK.

B&Q Waste Donation Scheme

B&Q operates a waste donation scheme through all stores, allowing donations of waste materials, e.g. slightly damaged tins of pain, off-cuts of timber, odd rolls of wallpaper, end of range materials, to community groups, charities and schools.

For health and safety reasons, no electrical, petrol or gas items may be donated.

Co-ordinated in-store, a Waste Donation Form is on file for interested groups. All donation forms must be signed by a representative of the group and no donations may be re-sold.
